I am usually just as annoyed as the next guy to receive telemarketer calls or fraudulent scam calls. "You've won an all-expense paid vacation, we just need your credit card number to..." You know the drill. But I have to say after receiving a few messages from Gila Corp on my voice mail and checking here, since it sounded plausible that it was legit, I called them. I spoke with an extremely pleasant and professional person, obviously not a 10-minute trainee in some sweat shop, who quickly verified that the ticket they were trying to collect on was for a different person, no relation to me. They assured me that they would remove my number from their records and wished me a good day. I don't have any complaints... I suggest if they leave you a message, just call them up and find out what they are calling you for. It could be a camera-based traffic ticket or it could be somebody gave your number out as if it was theirs to avoid being found.

!E-mail me with information about class action suit. I have said someone needs to do this for three years now. Darlagoulla@yahoo.com
!
The reason for my memo today is to make you aware that when checking my voicemail on 8-31-12 our home phone 512-xxx-xxxx I was greeted with this threatening phone call. MSB LEFT A VOICE MAIL ON MY HOME PHONE. (WORD FOR WORD) I saved the voice mail just in case it becomes a matter resolved in your presence.
?Hello this is MINICIPAL SERVICES BREAU the Customer Service Provider FOR 183-A Toll road CALLING ABOUT AN OUTSATDING TOLL ACCOUNT. MISTAMEMER CHARGES ARE PENDING against the vehicle owner who failed to pay the tolls in question please call MSB AT 1-888-261-7556 to discuss the this obligation and payment options before this is unpaid toll account is referred to The Williamson County Prosecutors office and mist meter and charges filled our hours of operation are Monday ?Friday 8-5.?
I returned their phone call this same day, I was highly upset. I expressed my ACCOUNT HAD Credit for un-used toll charges. I see the DOCTOR once a month and transferred m y visits to Round Rock location to AVOID HAVING TO USE THE TOLL ROAD. MINICIPAL SERVICES BREAU had been billing me for years. I keep any and all records that I may need at a later time in the event of a dispute. I have been sending memo?s with pmts to TX TAG, AND COPYING MY TX TAG STATEMENT TO MINICIPAL SERVICES BREAU. After numerous times of never getting a response for either one of them I assumed it was no longer a problem. I continue to pay TX TAG.
According to MSB THEY OWN THE TOLL ROAD AND THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE GETTING PAID. I explained to her, when TX TAG opened their TOLL ROAD, they sold TX TAGS. I bought one then and December of 2009 purchased a second TX TAG. MSB CLAIMS BY PAYING TX TAG I AM PAYING TO TRAVEL 130 & 45. Well I have never been on either one of them! TX TAG has advertisement all up and down 183-A TX TAG (PAY BY MAIL) I have never seen a sign with pay by mail MSB.

Then why is it when they call me to collect on tickets I never received is it from a different 512 number every time?
David Bosworth 2011-07-29 07:05:11 Unknown
GilaCorp is the parent/owner of MSB. which IS in fact a collection agency contracted to collect old unpaid parking tickets. Whether or not you are in fact responsible for an individual ticket is another question. Whether someone cvalls around imitating MSB is yet another but quite unlikely if your callerID shows their ph.#. Their # is (Austin) 512-454-4757. (TollFree) 800-616-0166.
These are the facts.
David Bosworth 2011-07-29 07:00:01 Unknown
YES. It IS Municipal Services Bureau. It is their local Austin,TX number.
Southwestguy 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
The company is MSB and they do collect for court systems across the country. I believe the bulk of there calls are in regards to photo radar and camera speed traps. These obviously come from our home cities or cities that we have visited over the years. The prosectuing jurisdiction researches your home address, through your license plate information, and sends you out a ticket. If you throw it away, have moved or have never recieved it, they still consider it an active ticket that needs to either paid or a non guilty plea/court date set up. After a set time period, the court systems considers it unpaid and forwards it to collections (i.e. MSB). MSB hounds you forever until it is paid, since they get a nice cut out of the deal.
My question is, how badly does an unpaid collection (ticket)of $100-400 effect your credit score? I would assume that everyone that has recieved this call and not settled, has taken a hit on their credit score. Is that correct?
lorett 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
Got a call from them and when I answered they hung up
Kim 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
If you ever receive a call from these people saying you may have a pending court case, just go directly through the court to find out if that is true. I received a few calls form them so I went to the City of Austin Municipal Court website and I found out that a warrant had been issued for a ticket I received for an expired inspection.
I went to the automotive shop and got a copy of my receipt, took it to the court and got it dismissed. Only cost me $20. There is no telling how much I would have had to pay if I had gone through the collection agency.

I've been recieving calls from this number telling me to call 800-616-0166 for the same reasons...to resolve an important court matter. They have called about 10 times today. I have ignored their calls. I live in colorado. and have never been to austin.
stephen 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
all you have to do is call the number back, and choose option 3. when the rep comes on the line ask them who they were trying to reach. they can pull the info from the number. tell them they have the wrong number and they will take you off the list.
CRS 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
I dunno who says these guys are legit, but they aren't. The court they say they are reporting a ticket for has no record of the ticket they are claiming. Whats worse is when I identified myself to the caller they tried to say they would call back for the real person.
This is a scam, and even if this company has made a few legit calls, they probably got lucky by looking up public information. Don't pay them a dime, deal with the courts directly or you may find yourself jailed with no recourse.
anonymous 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
It's not MSB. I did the reverse lookup on the Yellowpages online and if they were with the bureau, you'd think that their number would be listed. That number is not even listed on the MSB website, only the real 800 number is. Seriously, if they were looking for me, you'd think they'd leave my name or the person they are trying to contact in the voice mails that they leave claiming that they are with the bureau... Strange, yes?

I have been receiving calls from this number for months. They say I have an outstanding ticket so I called the Municipality and they had no idea what ticket or fine MSB was talking about. I've never gotten pulled over, let alone gotten a ticket for anything so I'm thinking its a scam. No parking tickets, unpaid fines, nothing. I'm not sure how to make them stop calling but I've just stopped answering for now. I wish they'd just go away and try to steal someone else's money!

It is a federal crime for anyone to use interstate communications facilities (whether that be wire (a landline phone), radio (cellphone), or television) in carrying out a scheme to defraud.
Before someone can be convicted of this crime, the prosecution must prove the following four things beyond a reasonable doubt:
That the accused knowingly devised or participated in a scheme to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false pretenses, representations or promises;
That the false pretenses, representations or promises related to a material fact;
That the accused did so willfully and with an intent to defraud; and
That the accused transmitted or caused to be transmitted by wire or radio or television in interstate commerce some communication for the purpose of executing the scheme to defraud.
So, create a detailed log with day, date, time and length of call, and if you can get a name. After about 4 or 5 entries, contact the local U.S. Attorney's Office and sign a federal complaint.
That will stop them cold.

These people just called our business and tried to sell us some posters citing the "new" Pennsylvania business laws. This is a scam. I will be reporting these people to our State Attorney General because they are very mysterious about who they are and what they want. And they act like they work for the State. Annoying rude people.

They call and call. They told me I had "an important court matter". I called them, then I called the city. I thought I had taken care of the matter, but I did have an outstanding ticket. The problem is, MSB will tell you the charge is more than what you actually owe. They tried to scam me out of over $100 dollars of what I actually owed. I paid them what the city says I owe and they still keep calling. I told them that it is not a bill for service so they are not going to collect interest or late fees. They already got that with court fees.
The operators you speak to are the rudest and think they know the law. Every time I made a legal comment they would remain quiet because they did not know the answer or how to rebute my comment without being a lie. After all, they do record the calls.

This phone number is somehow related to 800-616-0166 and 800 669-0102. If you google the other two numbers you'll find postings similar to this site. Looks like a scam to me. The first two calls I received asked for a person I never heard of. I said that and not to call me. Since then I get several calls every week from one of these numbers. I registered the first two numbers on the do not call website

The culprit is MSB. They are the Municipal Services Bureau. They are bill collectors for the court systems of america. If you have had a parking ticket or other court action they are after your money. The Courts pay 50% of what MSB collects from you. They use hundreds of numbers all over the country to make sure someone is at your number.

It is not the Municipal Services Bureau. They might say they are, but they aren't!! It's a completely different number than the MSB phone number. They are scammers; claiming I have a ticket in a city I haven't been to in years.

They called asking for me by name and I kept asking who it was and they hung up. I really DO have a ticket that is in collections but I also think it is public record so they can call everyone on there trying to steal money SO BE CAREFUL. You should always find the official number to the collections department (online on your own, not by asking the caller) and handle your issue on your own.
HERE'S A TIP: For annoying frequent calls (ie debt collectors) to your cell phone you could save the numbers that call and assign them a unique ringer ID to ring as 'Silent'. So you'll get the call but it won't ring your phone and bother you. Then instead of getting annoyed or frustrated you can just laugh. Sure it seems they call from a million numbers but after a week or two you'll have them all saved and silenced. (ps. I ran into an old Nokia phone with no Silent setting so possibly you could just create your own ringtone with just of couple "pauses".)

This number has called me two time every morning at 7:00 for the past 3 weeks.
It's rather annoying, because while I did have a ticket, I already paid it.
Every time I tell them, they say o.k. and just call the next morning.
Kill me.
lloyd 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
This # has called me twice and left msgs about a "pending criminal court manner" - I do not have anything like that and it is a scam I think

I just called the 4757 number, it definately is MSB. They were looking for my deadbeat brother at our Mom's house. I explained the situation and that the brother doesn't live at this number. The lady said they would take the number of their list. We'll see if they call again, and I'll let you all know.

I have been flooded with up to three calls a day, mostly at supper time. I told this company I was not who they wanted, but they keep pestoring.
All I could do was create a "Distinctive Ring" and cancel all their calls.

I'm getting several calls a cay from this number saying I have an important matter that needs my immediate attention and gives my "case" number. Of course, I have no case number because I've never been in trouble with law, no tickets, no outstanding tickets, nothing.
Who do I report these folks to?
n/a 2011-06-06 20:50:14 Unknown
They are calling about the red light enforcement program
