Had a totally weird call from this number......  Called apple via Skype and was told by the agent to hang up... He then called me back from this number and pumped me for all sorts of personal, completely irrelevant information..... The call was completely unnatural and really sounded fake....  I punched the number into a search engine and it gave me the name of a person and a location in Austin Texas together with an approximate value of the property $365,000.  Hard to believe that apple customer service is based in a small residential unit of this value.....  Very disturbing, stopped my credit card

No one responded to my greeting - the background sounded like a telemarketing room, full of people all talking at the same time.

They called me to check on an order that was placed online with my credit card which had been hacked. They cancel the order at my request and they even gave me the emergency phone number of my bank so I could report immediately this illegal transaction. Obviously, nobody's sleeping on the switch at Apple. Thank you for your vigilance.

Apple called me to say an iPhone had been ordered on my CC. That order was only 1/3 of the purchases the hacker has made in the past 2 days. On the phone with mastercard now.... YAY APPLE!

I ordered an iPhone worth over a grand. They didn't process it and said they would hold it until they heard from me. They did. I cancelled mo order for a 5s 64gB! That was easy! I was until now a regular customer.

The (512) 674-2000 number is the main number to apple's austin call center it is not tied to any department but just a general line. If you need to call apple back it'd be better to use the 800# this one is not toll free

The call was not identified and as such I do not answer such calls. They left a message and they identified himself as an Apple representative about a photo reproduction order they messed up several weeks ago. They should identify their number as I may have picked it up.

Just got a call from this number, but no message left.  (I don't pick up unknown numbers...)

I have never, nor will I ever, own an Apple computer, iPad or iPhone.  No idea why they would be calling me, unless it's some scam.  I have only one debit card, and it has not been compromised in any way, so that's not the reason either. (They'd never get away with charging $1000 to my card as others here have said...I never have that much in my account at one time!!)

Legit call from Apple.
Left Call Type as Unknown because there wasn't a type that would indicate this as a legitimate call.

Apple calling to confirm an order I had just placed for an iPad.

VERY professional, and if I hadn't taken the call, the order would have been on hold until I was available to confirm.

This is actually a legit Apple number. It is the number for the sales department. And I would know because I talked to 3 representatives on this number.

I got a call from this number today and it seemed very strange.  Don't ask why I was suspicious, but I was.  I answered and talked to a man who said he was from Apple.  It seemed odd that it was a random number from Austin, TX.  He sent me an email with his contact information.  I decided to call AppleCare direct.  They found the information and the new agent ended up connecting me with the original agent who had called me earlier in the day.  Looks like I can trust the number after all.  They were calling about an iphone repair.

It's a legit number for Apple and their employees are awesome. They called me, I missed the call. Called them back and it is legit. It was a follow up to a recent case I had with them and I appreciated them checking in to make sure everything was still going well. Very professional and it's rare to find a company these days that go the extra mile to provide customer service. Apple makes you feel valued and appreciated. The number is legit. Don't be afraid to answer it. And if the call wasn't actually for you, then most likely someone who called them gave them the wrong number or maybe a typo or something because there is nothing suspicious about their calls at all. Thanks Apple for making me feel my investment with you is always a good one. Would rather pay a little more and feel valued and get a quality product with quality customer service than to pay less and get crap. You get what you pay for. LOVE Apple and I love their products and their people that work for them.

A few days ago, I emailed Tim Cook, Apple CEO, about the policy on getting iPhone 4Ss covered by AppleCare+. Today (1/10/2012) I got a call from them at this number about adding AppleCare+ to my iPhone. Great service.

Because of so many sales calls, I don't usually answer numbers that are 'out of area'. I quickly googled the number however and found this site saying it was an Apple number. I answered and it was an exec from Apple responding to an email I had written the day before. Wow! He answered my question and gave me his email and ph. # in case I had a problem in the future.
Excellent PR, very impressed. This is why I'm an apple fanatic...  :)
