I got two calls from them today on my cell phone but wasn't able to answer and they left no message.

To the person above, depending on the type of debt the collector is dealing with, you would be surprised at how easy it is to get info on people with the tools provided to a debt collector. I used to have access to a website through my old employer that literally gave me everyone's social security number, current and previous addresses, phone numbers, credit reports, family names and information, neighbors, prison and arrest records, literally anything. So I'm not surprised they contacted you at work even though your wife never gave them that information, you are listed as her spouse so your info shows up too.

If you say that you don't know the person and they have the wrong number and you ask to not be contacted anymore, they have to mark your number as a bad contact. I'm pretty sure that's a law within the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I've received 6 calls from these people in the last week, 2 of them at my work the other 4 on my cell.  The first call I received was at work and politely told the gentleman that the issues are between my wife and her ex-husband.  The other calls I ignored.  Told my wife about being contacted at work and she was LIIIIIIVID!!!  We both can't understand how they were able to get my work and cell number when she never submitted them to anyone.

These people stop at nothing. They call anyone and everyone who they even remotely think might provide them with information.They recently called about looking for someone who I haven't had any contact with in over 10 years, and still have no idea where this person is (nor do I know anything about their whereabouts).When I told them this, they were extremely nasty, and accused me of things, using abusive language. When I plainly stated that I had no idea where the person they are looking for was (or how to contact them), I politely asked them to remove my number from their "call list", and not call me any more. They got even nastier. When I threatened them with legal action, I was told "you'll be sorry if you make any threats". They never did give a personal or company name. If I have to, I will pay to find out who owns this number, and I will have these calls stopped, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!

What you are doing is clearly illegal according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I have gotten several phone calls from this number. They have not left a message. I called the number and asked for them to identify themselves. A man answered, said they were URS and hung on me when I asked what URS stands for.

I have been getting serveral calls on my home phone from this number.  today, they started arriving on my cell.  does anyone know who this belongs to?

I received a call from this number on my work voicemail.  Just background noise, no message.

This number is for United Recovery, a collection agency.  I called the number back and the person who answered was very polite.  I had done some research since I have received literally hundreds of calls from various collectors who were searching for the guy who had my number previously.  He is apparently still using my number (a year later) for his contact number.
Just call the numbers and explain to the collectors.  They can and will remove your number from their call lists.

513.297.5169 Called asking for a person who I do not know, does not live at my adresss, and who is unrealted to my family. We do however share the same last name. The CR was rude and hung up on me after I told her I don't know who this is don't call again. She called at 8:31 a.m.! I
