They call every few hours day and night, and it doesn't matter:

I answer and it hangs up after 5 seconds, or I don't answer and it stops ringing after 3 rings.

My wife is on call, so we have to look at the phone.
This is not collection, or political, and beyond "pranking" - too enduring an occurrence, since it has been months now - this is purchased harassment.

I have yet to make contact with a human or recorder.

At first Ms. Johnson called using Columbus, OH area code (614), 'on behalf' of the District Attorney General that we owe some money and wanted us to give her more detail about our contact information prior to discuss this matter further. Weird! We don't live in OH and if we do owe them something they should have our information. I told her that we'd contact the DA office ourselves & I just hung up and ignore it because we know we don't owe anything and we don't even live in OH. After a while they stopped calling and started again using CA area code (949) & left a message. We just kept ignoring them. Now they are using area code 513. Sure this is the same prank. Keep calling everyday. So far no message left. We just don't pick up the phone if we don't know the number. Our phone # is registered at National Do Not Call list. I guess this doesn't do anything either.

I called macy's and a had them change my contact info in their data base. my new home phone is 513 573-8013.

(513) 573-8031 they called me three times today. No message. I identified the number on my phone as junk and I don't pick up.

The number 513-573-8031 is Macy's credit card payment center, and you're getting calls from that number because your account is past due.  I was several weeks late on a payment and I was getting 7-8 calls a day, from first thing in the morning into the evening, they never left voicemails so it took me awhile to figure out what was going on.  It isn't really a "scam," it is debt collectors trying to collect the money you owe.  It is really annoying, yeah, but if you make your payments on time then you won't have to deal with it.  As soon as I got my account current the calls stopped.

I have gotten several calls but they never leave a message. Decided to call the number and asked to be removed. They are collections for a Macys or Bloomingdales credit card -- I don't have either one. The guy then asked if the name on the account was our name and it wasn't even close. I don't have any idea who that is. It was some really weird name (like it's Nigerian name). Anyway, he said he would remove our number. Sounds like there are people scamming Macys and Bloomindales and giving our number on the application. So when they don't pay, we get the calls. Best way to stop the calls is to call back.

I been receiving calls every day for over a month from this company.
My caller ID shows "Mason". I've called them to inform them this number
is in my name and not the person they are trying to reach..
I've had this number since 1986.

It's a phishing scam.  I have never set foot inside a Macy's nor have I ever shopped on their website, and I definitely haven't opened a line of credit with them.  Yet they have my name and insist I owe them money.  When I play along to see exactly what they're after, they want me to pay by check over the phone.  THEY WANT YOUR BANK INFO.  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM. They were originally calling from an 800 number.  I googled it and found that it was a phishing scam.  I blocked it and the very next day I got this 513 number.  Apparently they use several different numbers.  If you think you're past due, check your account via the number on the back of your card or online.  DO NOT PAY VIA CHECK OVER THE PHONE or kiss the money in your bank account goodbye.

This number is for Macy's account recovery.  They also use 800-782-7756.

Keep getting calls from this number everyday it is also calling my husbands phone and even calls on the weekend i am going to report this number to a higher athourity if something is not done about this. I suspect that this number has something to do with these calls 786-383-8085 because this is a telemarketing persons number

I don't owe Macy's anything....they refused to really say more than Steve Davis.

they call me on my cell phone several times a day from this number and also another number which is 727-556-7300 and my cell phone number is on the National Do Not Call List and also on the Texas Do Not Call List. My cell phone has the block caller on it and i have blocked them from calling me but they stil call and i am sick and tired of them calling me. i owe them money on my macys account but i don't need them calling me and reminding me that i owe them and there again i am another person that doesn't like to give out my personal info over the phone. they need to be stopped ASAP from calling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called Macy's. They confirmed it is their number and they were calling us for past due balance.
Except there is no past due balance on my account. Not now and not in last ten years.
They said they had made an error, so I will see if this fixed or not.

I get 2-3 calls per day.  They continue to call my phone number in error.  If you answer the phone it is a recording.  I called them back several times and was placed on "Hold" for a very long time.  One day I got lucky and was able to speak to a person then that person's supervisor who promised me to correct their error and remove my phone number.  This worked for 1-2 days and now I am getting the calls again.  I am going to send a letter requesting they stop and if they do not I plan to complain to the attorney general in California and Ohio as well as the FDCP.

EVERYONE-had you tried getting the calls blocked?

This number as been harassing me for about a month and a half now. I want to know who these f**** are so I can file a lawsuit.

We have a paid off Macy's account so I don't know why they would call. When I call them back from my number they can clearly see who is calling. I asked the man who is calling and he said "credit services" but wouldn't say for who. He asked me my name amd I said you called me you should know who you were calling. He said he would't say what the call was about until I told him my name and I would't. So here are a few suggestions. Everyone keep calling their number and hang up after 3 rings, Call again and when someone answers speek in a very low volume so that they turn up their volume on their headset keep talking at a whisper and when they say they cannot here you Use a fox40 whistle and blow it into the phone. That particular person will not be able to hear to make another call for a while. If everyone does this it won't take long before they get the message.

They keep calling, and when I pick up, there's no answer! When I call back, there's a busy signal.

No one on line when answered, no message left, no number left.  If it is Macy's I would expect a more professional telephone call.  Macy executives should be alerted to their ineffect employees.

I was 2 days behind on my Macy*s payment, I get a phone call from a woman that hardly speaks a worsd of English asking me for my macys account number, I replied to her 'uuuh I don't knw my account # by heart' (duh) then she asks for my # and I am confused @ this point becuz didn't she just call me??? So I am trying to be polite becuz I don't understand a word she is saying due to her heavy accent and I have to repeat myself 10x before she understands what I say. She continures to ask me personal questions until she ask for my social security # and that's wen I drew the line. I don't even knw you and you want me to share info wirth you??? Ahahaha funny. Don't believe them!!!

Hoping to make your day a bit brighter to say that I AM filing for bankruptcy and Macy's will NOT be getting thier 600.00 back from me.  Although a good chunk of that money is actually the out of control interest rate that is charged by all the freaking dept stores.

I am lucky to have a phone that you can chose to block incoming calls.  Land line rings once then blocks stops.  Still annoying.  Our phone starts ringing at 8am EST and goes all day / 7 days a week.  Sometimes the same number will call back to back 3 or 4 times.  Like I am going to pick it up the second or third time by mistake or something.  

Debt Collector's GET A CLUE!  IF WE DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO YOU - WE WILL NOT TALK TO YOU.  CALLING 100 TIMES A DAY WILL NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  

In this modern age, we all have caller ID.  If I do not know who is calling, then I do not answer the phone. I can turn of my phone if I want.  Waste all the money you want hiring people from other countries to harass your CUSTOMERS!!  - former customers.   The least you could do is help the US unemployment by hiring AMERICAN people IN THE UNITED STATES to harass fellow AMERICANS who all on in the same bad situation as most of the country.

This number is the Macy's Credit Card Center calling to seek payment for anyone overdue....even 30 days.  Funny thing is that this they may come across as 'Mason, Ohio' however the individuals are definitely from the Call Center in Mumbai, India.   I missed a payment due to several issues and also being unemployed for the last year...paid what I could and spoke with someone in the US about it too.  Well, 3 days later the harassing calls started....up to 12 a day, (starts around 8am) phone rings 3 times and they hang up and never leave a message.  IF you do get to it, or call back be prepared for the harassment of a lifetime!  I explained my situation nicely to 1 'gentlemen' only to have to say, "let's go back to your payment history a year ago, you were doing fine'...I politely told him I then lost my job, am trying to keep my home and missed the last payment due to car issues.   Forget it, he said the payment I made ($75 of $120) was insufficient.  I told him I paid what I could and would do so again in a few weeks.He did not like that and I just told him to have a nice day.  Fast forward 8 hours later when I get another 'gentlemen' telling me that I need to pay the past due now and come current.  I repeated my previous conversation from earlier that day and asked 'is it not in your records that I spoke with your counterpart"?  He did not answer and I told him, I cannot give what I do not have and that they need to stop calling me.  He said that isn't going to happen and they would continue to call me!!!  

Called the 800# today (US based, that particular # does not go overseas where 866/877 does) spoke with a woman in the US who said she would put a stop on the calls for 7 days while I write & send a letter to 'cease & desist' to the Mason, Ohio office.  Unfortunately she said that they will keep calling if I did not and it was beyond her control.    Best part, they are also now calling my mother's home as well.  I asked the woman to please check and remove her number and she told me....that number appears nowhere on your account.  They must have run a skip trace on you.  Are you effin' kidding me??? A Fields/Macy's customer for 20+ years and miss a payment and they pull this???

Well, if one files bankruptcy...this 'UNSECURED DEBT' will not get paid and Macy's will get 0, zilch, nada.  They should be an 'upstanding, fine American company' and attempt to work with the people who made them what they are.

I got interrupted by a bogus call from this number while interpreting radiologic studies today.... and I don't even shop at Macy's, much less have a credit card with them. Thanks to this blog, I will now be 100% sure to NEVER shop with Macy's...

received 2 calls over the weekend asking a return call for medical debts.  tried calling sunday, but office closed.  blocking this number today with ATT/Uverse.  definitely a debt collector.  my med bills are current.  block 'em, report 'em.
