Im fed up of this damn number calling here!! Normally they call when no one is home.. every day pretty friggen much! We have answered a couple of times, including last night, and u can hear sounds in the background for a moment, like its a call centre or something... then *CLICK!* disconnected. They interrupted our movie time twice in a row last night.. friggen stupid.. I called the number back hoping to get a person on the line.. but I DID get a voicemail!! So I left a message with my number, and told them to STOP CALLING HERE!

About every night around 8 pm this number calls me. When I answer then is no one there. If I cancel the call, a voice message is left. When I listen to the voice, there is nothing there. If I just let the phone ring, there is no voice message.
I really need these calls to stop!

While I didn't work at this call center during my studies there I know lots of people who did and I worked at a different call center doing research- not soliciting donations. Just be admit- not rude- that you want off the list. Its not like these students are singling you out. They are just given names and numbers to get through during their shift. Turnover is quite high because it is a crappy job and people make you feel like scum for doing it- but it pays the bills. There aren't many places that will hire for 4months at a time to accommodate co-op. Most don't want to be there. They have to. And it isn't the same kid calling you every time, its just the lucky one who happens to be on shift.
Would you really yell and swear at people soliciting donations for cancer? or natural disaster victims? so please don't yell at these students. They can only ask you for money because technically the school is a not-for-profit like a religious institution, a hospital or any other charity.
But just hanging up won't stop them. You do need to talk to whoever is on the other end if you want the calls to stop.

With that attitude, I guess we can assume you'll be paying the full cost of tuition for your kid when he or she is in university. So that, you know, they won't have to take time away from studying by taking a crappy telemarketing job to help pay their way through school.

We got a call at 9:17pm and we were trying to put our 21 month old to sleep. It's rude to call after 9pm if it's not a personal call to a family. We need our rest. Please be respectful. Also, if these are students, they should be studying at this time, not calling us to make some money here and there. Their own future (& marks) are at stake!

Two years ago, I told them not to call me and they didn't call me for a while.
But they just call me now Oct 19 2011, 19:30 and last week at evening as well.

This is precisely why anything 519-888-* we let it go to the machine. If it's someone calling from UW with actual business (as has happened with my wife in the past), they will leave a message.
Sami F 2011-06-06 20:51:06 Unknown
No message was left.
Ex-Caller 2011-06-06 20:51:06 Unknown
If you no longer want to receive phone calls from UW, pick up the next time and call and say "I do not want to receive calls from UW anymore, take me off your phone list." That's the only way to get them to stop.
If someone keeps calling you from UW and you have no affiliation, pick up the phone and tell them that you have never attended or donated to UW so that so they can erase your number from their system.
Please keep in mind that these are students calling you. I worked there and can tell you all that the students do not enjoy disturbing people, they are just trying to pay the bills while they're in school.

They are very persistent! I received one call after 9:30p.
Roxxxx 2011-06-06 20:51:06 Unknown
Yes, it is from University of Waterloo. She calls me at 8:30pm. I am a 2007 UW grad and my father had donated a little amount of money from 2003 to 2008.
woodstock 2011-06-06 20:51:06 Unknown
yes..just got the alumni donation call as well...U. of Waterloo
Ex-alumni 2011-06-06 20:51:06 Unknown
Yep, it's Waterloo. They will keep calling you, and calling you, and calling you, until you pick up and say that you do not want to donate. I was a donor for 15 years, but when they called me in January for the new year campaign right after I wrote a cheque in December, I told them that I was no longer a donor. They were ok for a year, but recently started calling me again.
Too many calls from this number 2011-06-06 20:51:06 Unknown
This is University of Waterloo, trying to solicit Alumni donations. They call fequently; we don't answer.
