I applied for a Program Manager position on Craigslist, paying 300 weekly. I received a 2,300 dollars check. Instructing me to cash and then purchase 4 green dot money cards. I too received a check from them. Legitimate looking check drawn off Chase Bank in TX. If this is a scam, what exactly is the scam. He stated I can open all packages and examine the contents. If I suspect anything illegal, I would turn it in and stop immediately. What was your check for? Was it from a company? Mine was.

I received multiple emails from a Donald Rahil, Andrew Burche, Clarise Staal, John Caplan, and Elizabeth Marcia Butler. Do not reply to them they are for transportation clerk, receptionist, administrative clerk, and project assistant. I live in Omaha, NE I checked out scam book because these names sounded weird and their emails were exactly like the one posted on there. Be Careful look up the name and address before you send them any information. Tell them you want to hand a resume in personally and they will back out of all of it.

I answered this add in the Asheville NC posting on  Craigslist. I was talking to someone named Kenneth Wood. I saw this after deciding this all sounded a bit too easy to make an extra 800 a month and found this page. The number listed was (305) 914-5180. I called and asked for one of the names listed in someone else's complaint/story above and the guy said that was who was speaking. I then asked for kenneth Wood, he said Kenneth worked for him. I then informed him I was no longer looking for employment and I had contacted both craigslist and the FTC. He hung up. I sent my resume and now I'm wondering what exactly he could do with that information.

Thank god I googled number (925)-940-5319 as I received the same exact email as listed above. WORD FOR WORD I'm in tennesse and the lady said her name was Christopher Taylor but the email came from taylorafs taybu. This was also a receptionist posting on Craigslist. If these low life's have nothing better to do then scam people you would think they would at least know how to spell there fact names and change it up abit. It's a sad world.

After responding I think I figured out a possible scam.  What they probably do is send you money orders (cash can't be sent through mail), so the scam is probably to send you bad money orders and for you to cash them and then buy the goods, take your cut and then send the goods overseas.

Problem is, if you cash a bad money order and later on they find out, YOU are the one responsible for repaying the money order in its entirety.  Essentially, you just sent goods that you paid for overseas and will probably never find the guy/gal who perpetrated the scam.  

If that's not the scam, I don't know what is.  I had something similar years ago, trying to sell my guitar where someone gave me over $1000 in money orders for a $100 guitar and said mail him back the rest.  When I did go to cash them they said they were fraudulent and had already been used.  (I didn't realize money orders only go to $500)


Unfortunately scams are everywhere even in those looking for employment.  Keep a clear head, look for hidden agendas and stand your ground.

I got the same, but what is the scam, to get information and hack into emails?  Seems petty, a decent hacker could do all that without the BS of craigslist.

Is not exactly that hard to find either.  I'm a former repoman, so I can easily find that information on anybody I want simply by typing their last name in a database.  The "scammer" couldn't possibly be getting rich, as the people they're luring are looking for work and hence have no money.   Even if you sent your resume, what information do they have that you wouldn't have given normally to a potential employer?

I will admit it is fishy and something is screwy but then again my question, what is the scam?

Same as all of the above comments, name, address , picture, mailing(not illegal) packages. I flagged it and searched him, this time Matthew Coleman. Unfortunately I did send my résumé to his posting. So I will reset my password, report him and be more careful! My favorite part is that he actually say "not illegal"... Lol ohh k. Thanks every one on here for reassuring me that this is a scam! Although I would kinda like to know what the scam is? Haven't figured that out yet..like would the mail actually come and would it be like a kilo of some drug or what? Hey, I replied to a job post on craigslist as well for a receptionist position in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I received a reply email from Kenneth Woods. I googled the phone number he listed as his and this popped up! He stayed he was out of town in Australia and was looking for a personal assistant to do some shopping for him and have clothing, electronics, and etc shipped to my address and I'd then have to ship to another address. He asked for a reply stating my name, address, age, alternate email, phone number, picture o of myself, and usernames for Yahoo messenger so we could chat business if I had messenger. What was actually funny is I received ANOTHER almost identical email from a completely different person with the whole out of town bit, except this person was in Ireland! They stated they too, needed a personal assistant and again couldn't meet me in person for an interview until they were back in the states in August 2013! they didn't leave a phone number though. I responded to the Kenneth Woods email explaining I was afraid it was a scam and almost immediately he replied saying nothing about what I just emailed but he said he was going through all resumes (even though he never asked for one). And Monday he'd contact the most qualified candidate. How he'd know that by just our names, ages, photos, and addresses is beyond me! Also, at the bottom of the email in a smaller, different font it says" MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER AND HAVE A VALID BANK ACCOUNT. DO NOT REPLY WITH ANY BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION, AS IT IS NOT NEEDED". Riigghtt, sure! I actually called the number and a man answered. I an b going to call it back to make sure its not some poor schmuck who has no idea his phone number is being used to provide a little more confidence to help reassure helpless victims being lured into a scam!!!! BEWARE!!!!!

I had also replied to an ad on Criagslist for an office/admin job and received the identical email from Louis Hodard.  Yes, he now has my address/phone info and I received notification from gmail that someone attemptedto hack my email account, so I had to reset my password.  

The wisest next step is NOT to reply to the email and report it to the Federal Trade Commission
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov    If they are unaware of a nationwide and possible internation scam, they can't attempt to search it down.  So if you get caught up in the attempt, don't reply and continue the scam and report it, don't just be the victim.

Be wise, be smart and don't fall for it.  If it sounds too good to be true, it's probably a scam.

Wanted to do the same send me stuff to my house and then ship to where needed, said he was from australia and would be returning in march and could meet then. Looked up phone number, the address was in california, total scam.
