Caller has a history of harassing those he texts at random. His name is supposedly Joey Mason and based on what information I could piece together he is 27 or 28 years old and from Southwestern Virginia.
His messages typically begin with "who is this?" and often progress to the pornographic/perverse. I have blocked him from making further contact with me, but feel there should be a more efficient way to stop his harassment of so many people. He has been exercising this behavior for years (at least since 2010).

Okay so this sounds really weird but some woman said that they went to the same highschool and he is mentaly retarded and is totally harmless but very perverted so thats why hes been doing this s***. Also I enjoy txting random people but im kinda scared to text him cuz he sounds like he would rape me. LOL IM A BOY!

I got the same thing from this guy, i text him and then got told to google his number and after seeing all these comments i blocked his number cause he wouldnt leave me alone.
He asked me lots of questions from my name to what i was wearing to send him pics.  This guy is super creepy and if you every get a text from this number i would report it or block it.

I got the same exact thing today! Said he was from Roanoke and graduated from Glenvale in 2006, name was Joey, 24, asian. He said he went to college in Staunton at Woodrow Wilson... it doesn't exist. He called and I didn't answer. WTF is going on??

I got the text today also.  He needs to spend his time more productively.

I too got a text yesterday from the same number asking, "Is this a girl!" I ignored it, but later did a reverse number search on the phone.

I got a text asking if I was a girl too??

I got the same message. I found a myspace page with that number on it. He won't reply to my texts.

okay, i just got the same exact text yesterday! but before i replied i googled the phone #...

him: "is this a girl?"
me: "maybe. is this joey?"

...then he CALLED me like 6 hours later, about 3am my time! then texted...

him: "yes"
him: "how did you know my name? is ur name ______?"

then about 3 hours later....he CALLED me AGAIN! then texted...

him: "u there?"

about 4 hours later....

me: "i goggled ur cell # before i texted you back. it looks like u text a lot of other people? they all got the same text from you."
him: "u a girl?"
me: "why? where did you get my #?
him: "u said you goggled mine"
me: "yes but you texted me first. how'd u randomly get my #?"
him: "idk ive just been texting at random. im such a BAD BOY!"

aannnd, i didn't respond to that one.... so if you ever get a text from this person, i would recommend NOT replying.

Obviously some sort of scam similar to the random emails generated by spam robots (not as tasty or as fun as they sound).  I made the same mistake of initially texting back "Who is this?" thinking it might actually be an acquaintance but from here on out will check numbers like these on the net before replying. Will our phones soon become the next victims of relentless spammers?

Me: Yes, why?
Him: Name?  age? single?
Me: ___, you should know my name because you texted me first.
Him: no, I don't. I'm almost 23 and you're way too young for me.
Me: How did you get my number?
Him: I randomly texted your number
Me: oh, ok.
Him: I'll just leave you alone then.

Got a text from the same number asking if I wasna girl, then asked if I was into Asian guys and wanted to exchange nude pictures.  Did some checking - number is registered to Cynthia C. Pierce age 49  35 Wooddale Circle Rocky Mount, VA 24151  Number is serviced by Southwestern Bell Mobile Sytems of VA
