I just called PayPal on Skype and the PayPal computer assumed I was calling from this 559 number. When I checked my profile on PayPal, the 559 number was listed. I had to add my real home number back in. The operator at PayPal didn't seem concerned. She just removed the 559 number from my account and pulled the plug on me when I persisted in asking where this number had originated. Talk about a real security breach.

Dear Dog,
I have received these calls as well. It is now April 2013 and the calls continue. I have filed complaints with the FCC and I have yet to learn of any success to catch and stop these A***s. Is there any truth to your claim that something can be done? I hope you check this site again - I would love to see a response...

This is a group of what sound like young boys, making prank calls. The calls have been going on for a while. Sometimes leaving us alone for 3-4 days at a time, then call several times in one day. The comments range from lame "We want to order a pizza" to absurd "One of your employees called me a B****" to just plain rude "We think 9/11 was funny, and we are Taliban... can we buy a bomb?" The calls are nearly impossible to stop, as the number can not be traced directly to one person. Our local police department is involved, as there are other businesses in the area reporting the same type of calls from the same number. Sadly, due to the nature of how this particular VOIP works, there is no way to trace the number back to one person, to have them stopped. If there is any legal action taken against these "boys" i would be more than happy to testify, as they are now making bomb threats, and making threats/ insults to our employees.

Well, they screwed up for the last time. Skype, which this number is from, is now owned by Microsoft. Microsoft is a US based company that can be sued, and held accountable for this kind of garbage and abuse. In addition to filing a complaint with the FCC (which everybody should be doing with everyone of these call) I have access to the VP who happens to run the Skype division for Microsoft. Whoever these little a***oles are, their world is about to get rocked on a number of levels.

PERVERSE SEXUAL CALLS, 10-20 TIMES PER DAY RANDOMLY. ON JUNE 22 AND 30, I HAVE OVER 35 CALLS FROM 5AM IN THE MORNING TO 8PM IN THE EVENING. I DO NOT ANSWER ANYMORE WHEN I SEE THE ID. HE LETS THE RING GO ON AND ON ONE FOR 60 RINGS I AM REPORTING HIM TO THE LOCAL POLICE, WHICH INCIDENTLY IS IN FRESNO CALIFORNIA.WHICH I FOUND.IT IS A LAW IN CA TO MAKE THESE CALLS. These are VoIP calls coming from Skype users. Unfortunately, there are legitimate people/customers and there are also people that use it for harrassment/fraud/prank etc... We get a lot of calls from people using VoIP phones like Skype and Vonage. Depending on your carrier (AT&T etc..) if these users call your toll-free number the carrier will strip the caller ID that the users are supposed to have and replace it with the billing telephone number (BTN) of the owner.
Sooo, say you signed up for Vonage, they give you your very own local number for people to call you on. You call a friend and they see your number because Vonage knows it is you and "pushes" your number in the caller ID and it will normally pass through to the person your are calling, even though it is technically coming in as a Vonage phone line.
However, if you call a toll-free number, your caller ID that is pushed will be stripped out and in it's place will be the Vonage number that it is truely using. The owner of the toll-free will, in most cases, get the real number that is registered since the toll-free owner is paying for the call and it is their right because they are paying for it. Just like if you are calling from an unlisted number (or chose to block it) and you call a toll-free the person receiving your call will get your number, regardless of the fact that you blocked your number. The TFN owner is paying for the toll call, therefore they will get your caller ID.

We are a staffing company and received a call from this number shopping our rates. Likely a competitor, unfortunately for them we are more professional than that and actually access a prospects NEED before dumping pricing information. Be careful!
