NCO Financial is also known for forcefully trying to collect debts that have "expired" (exceeded the statute of limitations), and they try to collect debts that are not legitimate. With so many scams out there, trying to prey on an uneducated consumer, can the consumer be blamed for not knowing which way to turn when they receive these type of calls (98% of the time, no messages are even left)? WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION< ESPECIALLY ACCOUNT NUMBERS (BANK, CREDIT CARD, ETC.). In all likelihood, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CHARGED FOR MUCH MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL DEBT< AND, IN MOST CASES, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER THE FUNDS, BECAUSE YOU GAVE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBERS, AND PERMISSION TO CHARGE (DEBIT). This current society has truly gone from a "caveat vendor" (let the seller beware) to a "caveat emptor" (let the buyer beware state of consumerism.

I received a call from this number earlier. As usual, no message was left. I called this number from a mobile phone that was prepaid with cash, and time was added to it by purchasing the cards with cash. The first time I called I got computerized message saying "thank you for calling. your call will be answered in the order in which it was received. this call may be monitored and recorded for training and quality control purposes". After three (3) minutes of canned music, I hung up. A tried again a few minutes later. Same message. This time, after about 15 seconds, I got a human (non-computerized) voice which said "good morning and thank you for calling nco. this i ????". the call was then terminated. I suspect that this is yet another number from NCO Financial. The best available research indicates that NCO Financial is a collection agency that operates outside the parameters set by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I am aware it is a common practice for companies to sell their Accounts Receivables (most times for "pennies on the dollar") to collection agencies. What I don't understand is why the consumer/debtor doesn't need to be notified of such a transaction?
