VOCUS owns PRweb. The latter is a FREE service offering a platform to do press releases etc. which garners leads, hopefully clients, for those who work at/for VOCUS. As they say, "nothing's free!"

It is definitely Vocus. I registered with PRWeb a while back and they are relentless in calling. I have explained that I am not interested in their service at this time, but they continue to call. I completely understand the business necessity to follow-up, but once you are told the potential customer is not interested, give it up!

This number belongs to ICONTACT I filled out their form thinking it was something else and now they call almost everyday...unbelievable.

I registered for PRWeb less than 1 week ago, and I've already received 3 follow-up calls from them. I can understand 1 follow up call, but leaving 3 messages has just turned me off of their service completely.

I signed up for a "webinar" of their service like a year or more ago. I signed up because they sent my company a big spam email message saying I could get a free iPod shuffle. So, I talked with the guy for a while, and he was of course VERY pushy. When I asked when I would get my free iPod shuffle, he told me I wouldnt' be getting one. So, they're rude, pushy, and liars. Why offer a free iPod "just for listening" and then not give it to me?
This is the email they sent: http://www.vocus.com/Email/12/April/vmsipod/index.asp
In any event, I thought I was done with these guys, but I guess my name pops up on their radar every 4 to 6 months and some new intern has to call all of the other "dead fish" leads such as myself.

Yes, this is a PR firm, but I really don't think they need to call me every fricking day, especially since I already told them I'm not interested!

No message. I called back and it was vocus.com. Not sure why they're calling, but I did just register on PR Web. Kind of sucks if PR Web sold my name that quickly.
Joe 2011-06-06 20:51:44 Unknown
Update: Vocus is PR Web. That's why I got called by them.
Keith 2011-06-06 20:51:44 Unknown
We registered with PR Web online a few days ago, and this was just a follow-up sales call from them. It's just good business to follow up with a phone call anyone who registers on your web site. I work with a nonprofit organization that is doing a PR email campaign---manually. We have to search online for each email address we want to send our info to, and presumably PR Web eliminates a lot of that manual work that we are currently doing and would help us with our PR project.

PR Web charges money for web publication. If you don't understand that, don't buy it. It is a waste of time and money and you can do it yourself. If you are a corporate bureaucrat with a budget to waste, then it is fine.
Dan 2011-04-26 23:09:02 Telemarketer
It's PR Web, and it's a legitimate company. They don't call unless you sign up. They are quite helpful on the phone, had tips for how to better target the next press release. Our press release from them was extremely successful.

They call my phone daily...but never leave a msg. I called the number back and asked them to take me off their list, and they say they will but they are still calling.
odeady 2011-02-22 21:22:02 Telemarketer
This was a sales call from PR Web and they are really good, so don't be freaked out. You probably downloaded something or looked at something on their website. Sometimes they do promotions to attract people to their website (or to participate in a webinar), so you probably gave them your phone number!
In any case, if you have a business you should check them out. This is the single most effective way to get wide coverage (cheap) for a press release. Call 'em back. You'll be glad you did.
George B 2011-02-21 21:31:52 Unknown
Ya, it is PR web. They have a call center and you can reach them at 571-485-4000 . Just a sales call, no worries.
Dyan Parker 2010-11-09 21:36:37 Unknown
They hung up as soon as I answered! Weird!
