I recieved missed phone calls from this # almost everyday. No messages were left. Tried to call back and every time, after 5-6 rings, there came a sound like your call was connected to a fax machine...

This was a call from DirectBuy - they were calling because I had apparently won the next prize in a contest.  they wanted to mail me a "key" which I could come in and try to win $50,000.

DirectBuy is a buying club, the membership fee is around $4,000 and $200 per year.  You get one chance to go there and check it out, if you don't join then, they will never let you join (this is from my friend who did join) -- so if you are looking to join, go ahead check it out.  if you aren't... then be prepared...

Caller calls repeatedly asks for my roommate, when I ask if there's a message they become rude and hang up. I've tried to call back and got a series of rings and then what sounds like a fax machine.  They call mostly after legal buisness hours (8am-9pm).

Am reporting them to the FCC... others should too. get them shut down!! The FCC's number is 1(888)225-5322. just press 1 for english and 0 for an operator...

I get calls from this number 3-4 times a day.  It rings 2.5 times then nothing.  The few times that it calls in the afternoon and I have answered there is no one there.  Once I answered it and there was a suprised sounding man with a foreign accent who asked for my mother.  (the phone was just turned on in her name)  When I asked if I could take a message he just said no that he was calling from Direct Buy and would try again later.

I'm thinking that companies are getting these numbers from the phone company when someone gets a new number listed and a computer calls several at a time, when the computer gets a "live" person I think it must get routed to a telemarketer who might not always pick up because they are on another call.

I'm just thinking this through.  Not basing it on any actual knowledge of such a system or fact of any kind.  Just sounds like something that could happen

Caller cals but doesn't say anything, when I call back all it does is ring, if I bloke my number, if I reveal my number male voice low laugh
