Debt Collector
this woman from Unified PS group called me saying i owe $1200 on a $300 payday loan. she has all of my personal info including my ssn and dob. she threatened to have my car lien, have me charged with bank fraud, and told my grandmother the same thing. the even asked me what i did with my federal tax return that prevented me from paying them. she was really rude so i really let her a** have it with no mercy shown. my grandmother just had heart surgery she doesn't need anyone telling her something like that. i told her to send me something in writing and at first they said no, but later sent something that appeared to be false, being there wasn't anything about the Fair Debt Collection Practices on the letter. they continue to call me job and my house. I'm not paying anything, even it is valid because #1: they were rude and used illegal tactics to scare me into paying. #2: they won't send me anything certified and valid. the supposed company she says o we isn't even a payday loan lender.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

get a life why comment if you were not giving good advice, real people sometimes make mistakes. the company itself once written off has been paid, anyone else that call get a bonus when the money is paid. then the person has to fight forever to get the already paid item off their credit. Furthermore why are you even on here if you are so different. You  must be in the same shoes.

I am afraid that I live in Kansas. I understand that probably the only thing illegal is the interest rates that they charge. I live in fear every day - even though I know I owe it. They call and say that it is a federal crime and that I am going to be found guilty of check fraud - even though I have told them that I had to close my bank accounts because they kept putting the request for payment through and it kept being returned - racking up a huge amount of overdraft fees. I am not sure what they will do next. My husband lapsed into coma yesterday and now I am spending every minute with him.

A LANTER...sweetheart please relax take care of your husband and im sure he will be okay and going home soon...as i mentioned before if you have the time to play with him but i see you dont have the time so dont let him upset you..these IDIOTS use scare tactics and lies to make you send them money.if this is a PDL loan go to ask.com type in WHAT STATES ARE ILLEGAL FOR A PDL..you will get a list of 12 states and if you live in one of these states you just saved yourself a lot of money.they wont take you to court because if the judge finds out that this illegal he will fine them thousands of dollars and probably dismiss your case or make you pay back what you borrowed..ex..borrowed 500.00 pay back 500.00 minus all processing fees pay no interest and subtract payments already made.. also if the PDL is legal most states has guidelines ex..california the PDL is legal max they are allow to loan is 300.00 anything over 300.00 you dont have to pay back,so check your state for the guidelines IF THE PDL IS ILLEGAL THEY DO NOT MAKE A PROFIT and pay the PDL store not the low life third party debt collector,also check the SOL in your state if the SOL has passed then they CANT SUE YOU never make a payment or recognzise the debt then the clock starts all over again.
sweetheart take care of your husband...

Thank you for the response. I seriously am getting so tired of their actions. He claims to have a docket number that begins with "US" and from what I can determine no docket number begins with "US". Plus, I would assume that before you can even obtain a docket number that a certified letter of some sort would need to be sent or something notifying you. I told him to quit calling my family and he has refused. I am not sure how to get them to stop. He said, "apparently you do not have any intention on paying this debt." therefore, after today, legal action from the federal level will be pursued. Very unsettling as I sit in the hospital with my husband. Can't think of anything worse.

A. LANTER please dont let these low lifes upset you,he keeps on calling you to get you upset so you will finally pay him..if you have the time lets get him upset when he calls..asks whose calling and do not answer any questions until he identifies himself...then ask the name of your company..again do not answer any questions until he answers you..then ask the nature of your call dont answer any questions until he answers you and if he doesnt answer you just keep on saying the same questions over and over again now your wasting his time and low life debt collectors hates that..he has to read you the mini mirandi act this is a bill collector calling..... then you ask him are we being tapped or monitored in anyway he will say YES then you say oh im sorry tapping me or monitoring upsets me please call me from a line that is not being tapped or monitored and hang-up...if he calls back go through the same process again waste his time..
this low life company has a F rating with the BBB the lowest rating you can get that means they violate the laws of collection..DONT EVER GIVE THEM OR BANKING INFO OR C/C INFO THEY WILL WIPE OUT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND MAX OUT YOUR CARD IN ONE DAY

Debt Collector
I was so disturbed by the manner in which this Dan Hinman conducted himself. He calls and calls - then when I call back he threatens me. Tells me he does not care about my situation. My husband is ill - he has not returned to work - therefore our financial situation has changed. Dan does not care. I asked for his name, title and company - he refused to give them to me stating that it does not matter since I had no intentions on paying anything (which is untrue). I have searched for his company and no one knows who he is with - I called our local county courthouse and no docket number begins with US. They also told me to report them to the FCC. What a world when people like this exist.

SHILL ALERT!!- The above posting by "Unified ps group" is a phoney. Two pages of comments saying they are a scam & 1 "they seem to be legit". When in doubt, call who you have the original debt with. If it's gone to collection, you'll find out quick.

I have a received a call from a person identifying himself as Dan Henman. He stated he was a licensed mediator investigating a charge against me for writing a bad check with malicious intent to defraud- that my lawyer or myself needed to contact him and reference a US 1044677 docket number. First of all, the phrase."malicious intent to defraud" comes from any number of state and/or federal statutes, i.e., criminal or penal codes. If it were a true "charge" a member of law enforcement would be making contact and would identify the agency they work for. It is most certainly a scam or somewhat clever ploy by a debt collectors. The persons posting favorable outcomes by contacting Mr. Henman are shills. Beware!!.!

America pays it's debts...always has but it will not pay a bunch of low-life foreign scammers. Validate the debt as per the FDCPA. If the debt is valid then pursue it in court. Assuming the state the payday loan was issued in allows for payday loans.

Don't ask Americans to bow to extortion. As a country we have always had a problem with blackmail and coercion.

I got a call from what I thought was telemarketer and it turned out this number is for a legal firm tying to reach me about a legal matter I had. They did provide me with a letter and proof of why they were calling. They are a pre legal office who works with attorneys to get debts resolved before they are filed for judgment.

If you didn't take out a loan and then screwed over the company. Gave your account info so they could pay back the loan you have taken out. You would not be getting collection calls. All you people do is steal money and then whine when it's time to pay back. Get a job. Pay your bills. Stop being a debtor. Stop whining and pay what you taken. Debtors just love to whine and complain. America is in debt because of you people. Stop stealing!
