I got a call from the number this morning, but did not answer and checked this site. I strongly doubt that the caller is legitimate, if he is calling about defaulted student loans. My daughter is a college freshman and Dean's list student. She got some small federal student loans as part of her financial aid package, but they are not due until she graduates or drops out. If this caller was legitimate, he/she would know that. Many scammers are simply fishing (or phishing) for information on the Internet, and if they see that someone has asked for materials about student loans, or bank loans, or payday loans, or insurance, they start calling. Back a year ago, I was looking for materials on paying for my daughter's education, and that's probably how they got my name.

Got a call from someone with an American name but an Indian accent who claimed to be an IRS officer and said that we were in trouble and owed taxes. Impossible. IRS never works like this.
The full number was 5852837013.

The first $750 per month of fed benefits are completely exempt.
Beyond that, the MAX that can be taken is 15%--and that can be waived in cases of hardship.
Don't be bullied by liars.

You're borderline retarded. The Dept of Ed does not sell loans to collection agencies. My god do some research!

That's ok, they'll just garnish his wages. Oh he doesn't work? Social security/disability offsets are the best. Love to hear people call in crying that their wages or ssi is being taken from them. Especially when we've made numerous attempts to STOP that from happening but nobody wants to listen to their voluntary options

They said they needed contact info on a friend who gave them my number as a reference. I told them I hadn't talked to that person in over three years and she no longer has the same number. I guess because of my extremely sexy voice he asked for a date but he found out we're too far away from each other.

We have been getting phone calls from this company relentlessly - nights, days and weekends, asking for my step-daughter, who had listed her father as a reference. We've explained numerous times that she is an adult, does not live here, does not speak to us, and we do NOT pay her bills! We've asked to be taken off of Conserve's calling list, yet they continue to call and call and call. Tonight, they offered a return phone number of 866-633-7945 x2823 until 9pm. We are NOT who you are looking for. PLEASE STOP HARASSING US.

Calls my business several times a week and asks for "IT department" or "Personnnel Department". Once I explain that the directory is by name only, he repeats asking for "IT dept or Personnel dept". Gets extremely rude and snotty when not connected and I always have to hang up on him.

Caller had vague and guarded demeanor, and what I heard simply did not ring true. Suspicious call.
| FibroSucks 2013-02-23 13:56:20 Unknown |
Caller identified herself as Melissa and wanted me to confirm my birthdate. I asked her who she worked for and why she was calling. She said she couldn't give me that information and was bound by federal laws and began pushing for me to confirm my birthdate again. I refused, telling her I needed to know what her business actually did because the description she gave me was too vague. Caller insisted that she had told me what the business did, was quite rude about it and started raising her voice, demanding I confirm information. We ended up arguing for a bit, with her yelling on top of me demanding I confirm and insisting what she told me about the business was a proper description and should have told me everything I need to know. Demanded I confirm my address, I told her until she could tell me what her business did, I wasn't confirming anything. Caller got rude and hung up.

irony, they just called me after I was reporting a series of calls from 888-355-7515.
These people are literally working from their kitchen sinks, a bunch of thugs, i said, send me the documents, take me to court, do it the right way, I owe them nothing, their call is in error but they are felons..stop them..
They are such sissy's that if you challenge them they hang up.l do not be a sucker. even if you owe money, it is not to them or for them

I received a call from this company regarding a defaulted student loan. They asked me to verify my information, and I complied. The lady stated that I owed $12,035 on a defaulted student loan and how would I like to pay that today?
I was shocked as I dropped out of school in 10th grade back in 1966, and never went to college. I started my own pet grooming business, and owned three pet salon before retiring last April. I told the woman she must send me a copy of the loan in writting so I can take it to my attorney to research the debt, and she hung up on me. Two days later a man called from the same place, and stated I owed the same defaulted student loan....I seriously believe that this company is abusing the public and that most people they call never even had a student loan or a debt, and they are trying to shake them down for thousands of dollars. Shame on them!!!

Then why are they calling me? I have no Student Loans yet they continue to call my home number
and not leave a message. The last time I am told exciting the parrot so bad it was 20 minutes before it
settled down again. If the clowns are legit they need to put it in writing and not try to think of ways to harass
good people without cause.

Hey Jim, I am so angry they keep calling my work and I do NOT have student loans. They told my boss man that I had defaulted on a student loan. I had to pull up all the complaints on here to prove to him that they were scam artists. They are not a legitimate business. Notice the Con Serve, emphasis on Con. They are stealing money from students.

it is a scam they are calling me and I am not in school nor Have I ever been!
| Lola 2012-11-21 01:45:42 Debt Collector |
Yes, this is actually a legit third party debt collector from the department of education. Unfortunately, if you are like me and have defaulted student loans, you must go through them to get your credit back in good standing.
I verified all of this through the dept of ed and from experience, if you can't afford their exorbitant repayment schedule, they will garnish your wages.
It's not a scam. Call the department of education.

This is ConServe a Debt collection company that collects Student Loans. There address is P.O. Box 457
Fairport, NY. 14450-0457. This company make a percentage of what they collect, and will say make any
threat to get you to pay. They will call your employment and speak with your employer about you not paying your debt. They will call your parents and friends, and if they speak with you they will tell you they are with the Department of Education and will have you arrested at your job. This is a skum bag company and you can get even with them by filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can do this
online. Also send a letter to whatever agency they are trying to collect for. I they get complaints that are in
violation of Public Law 104-208 they can be closed down. If the student loan department gets alot of complaints they will stop using this company. Make them pay for there illegal acts. Close them Down
