ok I just found a business card on my door from field agent from RRS upon looking up company discovered its a repo man lovely my exboyfriend lived here for 2 years he lent his car to his father who had to leave to new mexico to new job to support his family. the entire time he lived here no repo company ever showed up here about 6 months ago after asking countless times his father said he could pick up car. I told him then that his FAMILY (sis) would call and report the car was here just because shes hateful. he moved out 3 months ago to mich. I started rcv calls from car company on my phone with is not a real service phone nor number it is an application installed so I could text and make call without service this is a number that cannot be traced to me or him or anyone my iphone is registered to my mother. I know his sis did this after he loaned them the car they never made the payments and was bitter about giving it back. how do I confirm this surely there is know confidential agreement reguarding someone calling in

Whrn my wife died i told the bank.i couldnt afford it and the repo man that called to pick it up told mto do.my dead wife a favor and pay the bill. Well i called back and told that a** wipe to come get it himself andi would hand it over. The car still sits in my garage and he wont come just send others to get it.,well check this  out..... Im not afraid to go to jail nor am i ammused by the tone or things they say. This car will be a freakin paper weight and i wont think twice about it. I will defenatly hurt some a** hole knocking on my door ar night and be in my rights doing it. All i have to say to RRS is if you want it bring the guy to me or go home cuz you cant have it otherwise. Court oreder or cops dont stop me from giving the bank back a beautiful paper weight. There are some people in this world who will allow others to walk over them but im not one of those people. And allow me to say u can call me anything u like but i promise ill have the last laugh

Next time someone pounds on your door like that call the police.  In front of the police, advise the person that they are not allowed to approach your place of residence, knock on your door, or attempt to make contact with you.  Get a copy of the police report.

The sense of entitlement in this thread is disgusting.  How can you maintain any sort of self respect by keeping a vehicle you havnt paid for? If you boss, at the job you need this car for, told you he could no longer pay you because his mother was sick would you keep going to work?

Using an illness as an excuse is weak... If a person is a terminal patient why throw money at it.. Their quality of life is horrible at best and once they are gone your life is left in shambles ... If you can't make the payments give it back. It's not yours.  Maybe you should drive your dead mothers car.

I knock doors and demand vehicles for Financial Institutions.  I'm a Process Server, so once I spot the car you better hand it over because you will end up in jail if you do not!  That's right, because by the time it gets to me I have a Writ in my hand and when you call the cops, guess who gets to go to jail!

I don't care if you have medical bills or what is going on in your life.  YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CAR!  I had to turn in my car when I was younger.  It happens people!  This is life.  If you hide the car you are no better then the scum repoman doing his job, as you call them!

By the way once you deny the repo man the car and he or she closes it out, it gets sent to the law firm and you have to PAY ALL COURT FEES, Process Server or Sheriff fees to the court.  In our county it's over $1,500!  You will not get the car back!

So stop being stupid and just face your mess head on and do like Dave Ramsey says and by a cash car! Problem solved!

Dear "Annoyed",

Some of us have might have oh... say a mother with terminal cancer for which we have spent over $133,000.00 in the past 9 months when we only make $80,000.00.  You don't know everybodies circumstances so I don't think it's fair to call us all "LOSERS".  Some may in fact be "LOSERS" but some are probably hard working, honest people who need transportation to work and keep the roof over their head, or keep up with the $5,200.00 a month hospice fee and $2,200.00 a month in medicine.

So... though I would never wish what my family is dealing with on anybody, I now wish it upon you!

SUCK IT! :-)
Just to clear something up...

Sassy, FDCPA does not specifically apply to repossession agencies because they are not in the business of "collections." A repo company doesn't want your money, they want your car. Repossessors have a "limited right to trespass" in the event you default on the contract (thanks to the security agreement you signed when you accepted the car loan). But that said, they should not be opening your garage or gate. Repossession laws vary by state so you'd have to look into your state regulations for more specifics. And as for your comment "Chances are they're a ex-con or have warrants out for them because of the type of person they are"....that is an entirely false generalization. I manage a repossession company and am solely responsible for recruiting and hiring new agents. The application process includes a background check, drug test, and review of driving history. We do this to not only satisfy insurance requirements but also to remain compliant with the contracts between us and the banks for which we provide repossession services. None of my repo agents are criminals, thank you. :)

Okay now Who is the real victim here?!
well first of  all i think it is amusing how some of you LOSERS really believe that it is okay  to go ahead and keep a vehicle that isnt yours. how can you justify ripping off another fellow American, or a struggling small business for their vehicle. Especially when they entrust you to take possession of the vehicle, believing that you will make good on your promises to pay it off over time.  But, not only do you stop paying, but then you hide the vehicle when it goes up for repossession and refuse to give it back as if it is rightfully yours all along.  . you lie and have your family and friends lie to cover for you ....and then you get on web sites like this expecting  SYMPATHY from the rest of the world as if YOU have been  victimized  because you were inconvenienced by a door knock in the middle of the night. boo hoo loser!   ..so pathetic.  its because of  LOW-LIFE losers like yourself that the economy in this great country crumbling as we speak.

This ASSHAT from RRS just showed up at my door after midnight looking for Anna somebody - whoever she is it isn't me.  I just moved in here a couple of months ago so maybe she lived here before.  I don't know and I don't care. He was a jerk and refused to leave and stood there trying to act like he's the damned law as if I have to prove who I am and give him whatever he wants.  Wake me up and be an a** in my doorway you know what? I don't owe you a DAMNED THING let alone courtesy. This is a rude unprofessional moron who should be collecting his a** in prison and he can't even figure out the right person to bother.  What a jerk.

I believe a repossession company is not a third party debt collection agency which the FDCPA sopecifically applies to.
Unless you can post the section and words that specifically refer to a repossession company that prove otherwise.

Debt Collector
Additional info on their violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. WHEN they call you, any collection agency is - under law - to tell you that they are "Edward (bla bla) with RRS Repo (or whatever company) and that they are a COLLECTION company. They keep that info from you. Again, you can file with the government because they are in violation. Also, they will bang on your door at 2:30 am waking you, demand that you open your garage door and even open your gate and enter your backyard! It happened to us. Stall them and call the police, and advise PD on 911 that you have a stranger in your backyard after demanding that you open your door. Chances are they're a ex-con or have warrants out for them because of the type of person they are. They are in violation of local trespassing laws and violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Anyone going thru losing their home, car, etc, due to the economy, should become aware of this act. It will help protect you!

Edward Larson is a "Field Investigator", I guess it's supposed to sound better than "Repo Man".  The cell phone number is 602-349-1222.  I had my girlfriend call the other number 1-866-898-0376 to play dumb.  Anyway, we got confirmation that it is a repo company under the name of RSS Fraud and Concealment Division in Peoria, Arizona.
