I have gotten calls 3 times over the past year.--one from this number--the two others from different numbers
Although it is tempting to tell the caller the reasons i know the call is not real, i don't. Each time these scammers get information from one of the people they call they can adapt to make their call sound more realistic for the next call. we can't stop them, but we can at least stop giving them hints!
It's frustrating, because i would like the satisfaction--but i think it just makes it easier for them to convince the next person.

No it's not real and you should report it right away to the real DEA.  They are aware of this scam and if you go to the website they will give you a number to complain.

I received the same call and was stupid enough to wire him money.  Not much though.  Then he had the nerve to call back and tell me he needed it in pesos and to resend or my case would not be dismissed.  Said I purchased medication from online pharmacy back in 2007.

Has anyone gotten a call from this D.C. area code? (202) 241-5300
He says I'm facing federal charges, that they intercepted a package full of a controlled substance addressed to me, and that I will have to go to NY to face federal prosecution. Is this real?

Someone with a heavy accent called stated they were from FDA claiming I bought online meds from a illegal overseas source.  They wanted details or he had "agents" in my "zip code area" that would come arrest me.  If I would hang up they would come take me from my home and take me to jail.  He stated he would see me in court right away... I hung up before they pitched me on how I could post bail over the phone with my credit card number.  Assumed another ripoff telemarketing call.

Received two calls today from "DEA". Both were from 917 341 9193. Both said I was under an open and ongoing investigation just like always lately. Said their were names were Matt Peterson and Bill Anderson and to call them at the 917 area code number at extension 135. I just keep calling the 877 792 2873 "real" DEA complaint department. I guess that's all we can continue to do. I'm not calling them back. I know the spiel they want money. Just sick of it. This occurred on June 3, 2011.

A David Wallace from the "DEA" just left a message with this number 602-748-4088 Ext. 1889 who said a search warrant and an arrest warrant would be issued for me and I was to call the number back. He said he was calling from district 79. He talked very fast and I did try to call back but only a woman's voice said to leave a message with no identifiers. I thought it was a scam before I even checked this. I will report to authorities. I only hope other people will not be harmed by this a***ole.

Prank Call
This b*****d left me a voice mail saying he was Sgt, David Wallace from district 69, saying I needed to call him asap that he was from the DEA and was going to send me a warrant for an arrest warrant as well as a search warrant! I called the number back and no answer. I then called my local Police Dept & informed them of this and immediately the officer googled the telephone that this jack*** left me and said, "No worries, this man is a scam" Then, the so called "Sgt" called me again and I just told him to NEVER call me again. Then I blocked his number from my line. OH, and he did mention  that I was selling prescription drugs on the streets!  This jack*** needs to get an arrest warrant for himself for harrasment!!!

These people are making me giggle (almost to the point of laughing out loud).

To obtain a search warrant, is there not supposed to be "reasonable grounds"? (not in law enforcement, but am aware of "right to privacy")

Is it not a Federal Offense to "impersonate" a law enforcement officer? (I would like to hear Karen respond to this)

Since when did the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) resort to collecting debts? (this one makes me laugh the most)

Better yet, isn't the FDA, that sara refers to, the acronym for the Food and Drug Administration?

Come on, They gotta do better than this!!

Event Reminder
Notice to all dead-beats. Pay up or else! I want my money! Call me at 602-748-4088 for instructions on how to make payments via your nearest Western Union Office. The price of bananas has skyrocketed here in the Dominican Republic and the cost of sending my 12 illegitemate children to school is astronomical. Not to mention the fact that I owe money to the folks down at Rosetta Stone for teaching me english. So keep the money flowing in this direction.

So glad I was smart enough t Google this number!!!! I had the exact same "DEA" experience. What REALLY ticks me off is that this call was made to my 80 year old mother who recently had a heart attach. She got very upset..and now I am furious!

Please let me know how or where I can call regarding a complaint about this. I'd love to turn this A-hole in!

I just got a call from Michael Kosta telling me I was in violation of Federal Law for ordering online prescriptions back in 2005 and that I was going to jail, blah, blah....  I was screaming at this person since he continued to harass and repeat that I was going to be sent to the Dominican Republic to stand trial.. I knew that was bs...  I kept asking him what do you want from me??? that I would call my lawyer right then with him on the line.  My friend jumped on the computer and found this site while I argued with as he said I would embarrass my family if he didn't take care of this.  I told him this was a scam and he hung up.  Dick!!

Just got the same call, and being a health care attorney who deals with the FDA I took the call.  I asked he unblock his number and call back, which he did.  Realizing the FDA does not have seargents, and the FDA is a regulatory body, not law enforcement, I asked him if he realized impersonating law enforcement is a crime (my wife is a prosecuter).  He said I'd find out soon enough.  I then advised him I had looked up his number online -- and he hung up.  But I did miss an important client call because of Sgt. A. Hole.

Just got off the phone with Sgt Mike Colsta of the FDA saying I was going to jail.  Apparently, buying any medication online merits 5 years in jail and 2 years probation.... UNLESS, for a low easy payment of $5000, I can have all charges against me dropped... immediately.  Oh, and he's got a direct line to the judge and prosecutor who just so happens to be waiting for him, and can call and negotiate while he's on the phone with me.  Here's what I did:

Ask for his name, badge number, supervisor's name, and his location.  When he starts to get mad and tell you he'll get his supervisor, he'll then come back on the phone and say the prosecutor has suddenly changed his mind and you're going to jail.  Tell him you'll call the FDA directly and get patched through to his office.  Then he'll hang up.

Don't worry, it's a SCAM and you're NOT gonna go to jail.  It took me a while for my heart to stop beating at 200 bpm before realizing I hadn't done anything wrong.  AND, not only did I buy a drug that's not illegal over the internet, but I also went and saw the doctor face to face and got a prescription for the ones that are controlled.   Thanks for the almost heart attack Colsta!

It may be impossible to find these b*****ds because this scam seems to actually be coming from the Domincan Republic. Even though they have an Arizona area code. When these b*****ds first started harrassing me, they were calling from a D.C. area code. I have to admit I was concerned until I researched this whole scam. The real DEA and FDA have websites dedicated to this scam and warning people not to pay them any money.
The FDA doesn't even have any agents who investigate illegal out of country drug purchases. The DEA willl never call you on the phone. The DEA does however send out letters telling people to knock it off if they are buying excessive overseas pharmacy purchases.
Unfortunately the real DEA doesn't have the time or resourses to go after these scam-artist. I think the public should become more aware of these types of scams. It appears as though these scammers somehow get access to credit cards and phone numbers with names of any overseas purchases of medication (even pet meds).
