This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of VOIP numbers.  The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account.

If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls.

604-276-8931.  I only know one person in the 604 area code and they would leave a message. All other 604 numbers I let ring through to my answer machine and as soon as my message starts, they hang up leaving no message. I've received many many many calls from this "unknown name" -- annoying !!!!

Easiest way to get rid of non-Canadian companies who are trying to defraud you is to answer all unknown phone calls with: "oui, bonjour?". Canadian companies CAN relay to a French speaker. Most fraudsters CAN'T. The positives of being bilingual ;-) Although, once I had a call from a Toronto-based company that was very convincing, they wanted me to let them take control of my computer on behalf of Microsoft. I was even able to call them back. That was fraud too. They are getting very good. Be careful out there! Ciao.

I have a list of 22 unwanted calls and this is one of them. If I am not familisr with the number, I let it ring and if it is legitimate they will leave a message. If not, I google the number and find it is some type of scam. If you don't recognize the number DON'T ANSWER IT!! and do what I suggested above.

An older gentleman(86), whom I look after, received a call from this number and was in the midst of speaking to the person and even had his Visa card in his hand when his cleaning lady came in and told him not to give any info. to this person as no bank asks for your Visa #.  She wrote the # down & called it back and the # was not in service.  I did check with the bank regarding his Visa # & it has not been compromised.  Seniors need to be made more aware of these phone scams.

We got this call on Victoria Day--of course we are closed on a holiday. Stupid @$$holes form a boiler room scam. Wish CRTC could actually do something about it. Maybe complaints to the CRTC about the phone company that allows the scammers to use their services would get some action!

We received another call from this number and again asked them not to call again.  The person on the other end of the line said OK - I will call you again.  I said NO please don't cause I will call police.  I no sooner hung up and I received 5 calls in a row from 306-236-2689 - same guy.  I called police - they advised me that if I get another call, answer the call then hang up.  Immediately dial *57 - this will trace the call by our telephone provider.  If you do this for at least 3 - 4 times then take info to Police Dept they can press charges for harassment.  Too bad I didn't know that before I received the 5 calls.

This time they called after 9 PM.  My toddler is sleeping.  No one calls me after 9 PM.  I asked the lady on the phone if she knew what time it was here, then I told her where to go.   If they call again, I will do what my wife did with the computer virus removal scammers.  She kept this do***ebag on the phone for an hour, and he finally gave up.  After you waste a good chunk of their time, they don't call you again.

By the way, I forgot to mention that most of the drug-addicted "card services'' scammers can barely understand and speak English because of their addictions--that's why they have the "job' that they do.

You're lucky the"card services" scammers didn't have a French speaking person available to try to cheat you! They bother us down here in the U.S. constantly. The next time these lowlifes call I will answer in French and maybe they won't call again!

Got a call about credit card rate. Usually don't answer unknown callers but I was busy and just picked up. Pressed 1 and got an indian lady who to,d me I could get lower rates. Asked what company this was and she said credit. Something mumbled   I asked if she needed my card number and when she said yes I asked her just how incredibly f@ stupid I needed to be. Told her that she should be completely ashamed of ripping people off  that seemed to be enough for her and she hung up. Figure that I should go another few weeks before I see that number again
If nothing else they will be able to swear like nobody's business doing this
