I got tried of them calling me so I set the selective call forwarding feature on my phone so that it forwards all of their calls to our non-emergency police department number. They can explain to them why they keep harassing me.
I've told them repeatedly that they have the wrong number, I've never had any dealings with wells fargo bank.

We have been customers of Wells Fargo Financial for over 15 years.  This company never knows what each separate part is up to.  I have recently received text messages from them as well as phone calls.  When I called the main number to investigate, no one knew anything about texts or calls.  The customer service reps couldn't find any problems with my acct, so they actually connected me to their Fraud department.  The guy there was embarrassed to discover that the calls and texts really were from Wells Fargo.  He said that Fraud had no idea they were doing this, but that my accounts all showed that they were either current or had an authorized payment plan.  He had NO IDEA why they would be calling and texting me repeatedly.  I think it's a case of someone in collections doing some things they aren't supposed to do and then lying and saying they don't do it.  I think they must be desperate!  They also use 503-403-2686.

They are calling for Crystal. Told them I am not Crystal, but I just got this phone. They will not stop calling, so you are washed up Erica. I suspect you are in collections and therefor are clueless as what the law says.

If you are recieving 27 calls in a day, document each time they call you...the number and the time. Contact your local District Attorney's office with this information. You should be able to file a complaint online.
They will contact Wells Fargo and the calls WILL stop.  No one, I don't care if you owe them money or not, should call 27 times in one day. It's harrassment. Plain and simple.

OMG this is soooooo annoying!  I told them several times to stop calling my cell!  Someone else had this number in the past and owes Wells Fargo.  I called them and informed the rep of this and he said my number would be removed from the call list.  I hung up, and two minutes later, they called again! Ugh...

Wow, sounds like they are really desperate for cash. What happened to the goverment bailout money they received to keep from going out of business?
Looks like I can manage my finances better than they can manage theirs.
Cheers to Wells Fargo and their $7.55 an hour collectors !!

Called trying to get me to accept the new Wells Fargo Stage Coach Credit Card.
I have told them I am not interested several times but they won't give up. Mrs. Jane Madison got very rude when I told her I did not want the card. I'm thinking of filing a complaint over her rude comments. I really don't need the abuse !  Stick your Stage Coach where the sun don't shine !!!!

Erica - that was a really stupid remark.  A lot of people get new phone numbers only to find themselves harassed my collectors trying to reach the person who previously had the number.  It's not my responsibility to pay anyone else's debts.  They get calls from Wells Fargo, HSBC, Capital One, Sallie Mae, and god only knows who else - all on my phone number.  Even after I get them to remove the number, they put it back in every three months or so and I go through the same harassment all over again.

We need legislation that outlaws the use of automatic dialers used for the purpose of harassment.  They know good and well they are causing a phone to ring repeatedly and in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Just in the last hour I have received 27 calls from Wells Fargo using 605-782-5041, 888-254-8110, 800-832-0202, 800-451-9849, & 800-322-9782, and the day has just begun.

Yes money is owed but I am working with the local offices and they are slow
processing information given . They call everyday even Sunday.  Starting as early as 7:30am   thru to after 9pm.  Even talking to them 8 to 10 times a day
and continuosly repeating the steps that we are working on to settle this debt, 3 called the same day that I had advised tge coolections rep that
we were going and would  be in a famly funeral. They even called in middle of
the funeral. This just too much. I ask them not to call my dad who is 91 yrs old(with some memory loss) and a heart condition -he should not have to endure these calls when I ask them to call only me. I hope with the continued loss of jobs in the entire U. S. they would try to be more emphatic do to
the economy now. They are not immune to losing their jobs and can be on the receiving end of this type of call

I found a link under privacy policy to the company I owe a debt to.  Do some research I am in the process of sending a letter.  And will do it to every single one until it stops.  I am already working on consolidating my debts and still get calls.
19. How can I stop a collection agency from contacting me?
If you want to stop all contact from the collection agency you should request in writing that they do not contact you again; to cease and desist collection activity. Although not required, your letter should be sent by certified mail, "return receipt requested" so you have proof of delivery. Once the agency receives your letter, its collectors can only contact you one final time to advise collection efforts are being terminated, explain what remedies are ordinarily invoked by the creditor, or explain the remedies they plan to seek. After that, collection efforts by that third party debt collector must stop. Remember that if you request no further contact in any way, you may leave the agency with no choice but to have a civil lawsuit against you.(back to questions)

Its a collection call from Wells Fargo Financial, Inc.. They have automated dialing and will call over and over again even if you answer the call.  If you wait for 20-30 seconds after you pick up, you will be directed to a customer service. The only reason they a calling you is because you owe them money. So pay your bill or tell them to make payment arrangements w/ you and the calls will stop.  They also call from 800-832-0202 & 800-322-9782.

Oh, and to those who said they got them to stop by asking... hasn't worked for me yet.  Repeated phone calls on my new home number asking for 3 different people by name.  None of them I know.  One of them I answered told me "I know you know who he is, by law you have to give me his number".  I told them by law they cannot harass me once I've requested they cease calling, especially considering I have no idea who they're calling about!  I don't know any of the people they've called for, nor do I know where they're located NOW.  I'm getting tired of my phone ringing off the damn hook.  I should have never switched numbers.

These people keep calling me asking for some woman. I keep telling them they have the wrong phone number, and they say "sure we do!" I have never had anything to do with Wells Fargo, and it's annoying because they will call from different phone numbers, and it's always in the morning. I guess this bank has nothing else better to do than to harass people who aren't even customers! Way to get more business?? They'll never get mine.

I finally got rid of Wells Fargo after confronting them with information I learned here - who they are and what they want.  I told them no one named Michael has ever lived with me.  Its worth a try.

And Michael, if you are out there MAKE YOUR CAR PAYMENTS, D***IT.   And if you do decide to defraud a creditor again - assuming you get some other idot to lend you money - give them your own phone number, not mine.

Debt Collector
You know, banks were bailed out WITH my tax dollars and WITHOUT my consent or even input.  I receive numerous calls form this number (morning, afternoon, and evening), and when I attempt to answer the calls there is a long pause before I am hung-up on.  Although I do owe Wells Fargo money, my debt to them will be paid shortly and I will NEVER do business with them again...NOR will my family.  I, unlike several in the banking industry, do pay my bills and have not asked for any bail-out BS.  An occasional bill does go overlooked.  They must realize that people DO talk and word of extremely poor customer service does get around.  GTFO my back!

Answer the phone and tell them they do not have your permission to call your job.  Tell them to call your cell.  They will stop because they know that legally they cannot harass you at work.

I am working to form a class action suit against them, and other companies, who insist on calling so frequently. I am certain we can prove this constitutes harassment, and have the law changed. If many of us band together, we can win this one easily.

If interested, let me know: gloriajw66 at the address gmail dot com

Let's do more than just complain. Let's lobby against their lobbyists, and change this law.

This only applies to collection agencies, not to your financial institution - which is probably why Wells Fargo is harassing you, not a collection agency.

Unfortunately, this only applies to collection agencies - not the company you do business with, and not to the lawyers they may employ to contact you on their behalf.  Wells Fargo Financial is not a collection agency, so they don't have to follow the rules that collection agencies do.
