I too have seen numerous calls from this number on my caller ID. So, I just got a call, and decided to see what would happen if the call were "answered"- as in, picked up, but no one on my end saying anything. After about 30 seconds of silence, the woman on the other end asked for me by name, first AND last. Repeated requests by me of: "who is calling" were met with: "is this 'x'?" until the woman said she would have to call again. I then decided to Google this number to see if it were a legitimate call I should have taken, and clearly it is not.

We are on the DNC registry (all phones, including cell/home for everyone in the family), so this is another one of those that have managed to slip by the clutches of the feds for prosecution, unfortunately.

Received a call from this number.  It says unknown caller.  Since that is how they have chosen to be identified, I have chosen to honor their wish, so, I do not answer and they remain unknown.

>> there needs to be an FCC provision to stop this type of thing  <<

Um... Have you tried examining you statement logically?
1.  Callers who "ignore" the DNC list are either exempt or criminals.
2.  Criminals disobey laws.
3.  Additional FCC provisions will not impact those criminals.

Want to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
Try being self sufficient, and do it yourself!  If one alternative is insufficient, go to the next!
Try these alternatives:

1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after 3 rings.

2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

3.  If your cel is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

4.  Google NoMoRobo, and visit their site, to see if your phone system is compatible with that system.  (It may or may not be compatible).

5.  Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

6.  If you buy things online, you might want to google "Amazon phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon has to offer for landlines or smartphones. Similar devices are for sale on eBay and other online stores.

We, too, are on the Do Not Call List - a lot of good that does - this # called 3 times in one day! Course I get home from work to see lots of calls and the ID is Unknown & never a message - I also do not pick up these unknown or unavailable types of calls - there needs to be an FCC provision to stop this type of thing. The phone is for me to use to call whom I wish to call & nothing else!

This is a scam.  They will give you personal information like and address or phone number to gain your trust, then try to get your credit card information.  Sometimes they try to make it sound official by pumping in background office noise or by transferring you to a "supervisor".

Personally, I enjoy leading them on like they have me fooled only to let them down by calling them out on their scam when they ask for credit card info.

Like Tim, someone from this number calls me all of the time and never leaves a message (I do not answer because I don't know the caller).  Like Karen, I wish I could get these calls to stop.  It's a huge inconvenience to stop what I'm doing to check my ringing phone, only to realize that it's a nuisance call -- again!  And again!  And again!  And again!  And again!

Called today at 11;50. Left no message. Read the above posts and appreciate the information. I checked my caller ID and received a call from this number two days ago. I never answer an unknown number as I have come to realize if they do not leave a message and if it is unfamiliar it most likely is a scam. I receive several calls a day but they have dwindled as I do not pick up the phone. The robocalls however will continue and I am about to cancel my home phone.

This call was from one of those companies that pretend to represent magazine publishers (but don't really) and try to get you to renew a subscription at a price that is 2-3 times what the publisher charges.  Most of the time the money never gets to the publisher either.  No other way to say it than outright scam.
