These people are still at it!  Apparently my computer has many fatal errors and is infected but they can fix it for me if only I will sit at my computer for awhile while they help.

Calling before 6am about urgent computer problem. Caller has an Indian accent.

Caller said I had serious problems with my computer in an indian/asian accent. I told him I didn't, that he was a scam artist, & he didn't know what he was talking about!!
Persisted in telling me that I would have no access to my PC within 3 days & he could hack into my PC anytime he wanted to! Told me to log on to my PC & the internet. Told him he must be joking. Told him that I had my IT director with me and passed him over. The caller told him that he would get the "evidence" of the problems on my PC from the cops and call again!!! I might answer and put him on hold with soothing music. Such fun!!

got a call from 607 594-4642 a pumped up lady saying my windows computer waent people s being hacked...I asked a few questions and she got more pumped up kinda shouting your computer is being hacked and it sounded like she said from someone in Newfounland..I said someone from  Newfoundland is hacking my computer, that stopped her talking for a minute and she said yes...I couldn't help laughing at that point...then I just hung up.
I've had calls like this before but different people, usually just hang up...this time decided I wanted to report it.....jerks.

Called me and rang the phone nonstop for 5 minutes straight. I hope they enjoyed wasting their time. Insane. Where's Big Brother when you need it?

Two things:
1. Every time I get one of these calls and follow it up, I am AMAZED that anyone would fall for this scam.  I mean, really, people out there monitoring all the computers in the world for spyware etc!!!! I suppose it's  like people believe there is a god put there looking over all of us billions of folks and listening in on our prayers. Oh well!

2. Once these criminals get onto a number they never give up. They keep calling back regardless of a very negative response....so maybe they get paid for every answered call and are just scamming their 'employer' since they know they aren't going to be successful.

Got a call from 607-594-4642, man who spoke horrid English, claiming he was calling from Microsoft... SCAM!!!

Just received a scam call from them- Indian accent saying computer is infected and he needed us to turn on the computer and follow his steps. Just hang up.

Caller ID showed "PAYPHONE 607-594-4642", caller said he was calling from "computer company" about my "Windows computer".  I replied that he was a scammer and I wasn't biting, told him not to call again.  I'm on the Do Not Call list which really doesn't seem to do a lot of good.

He said his name was mark and that he was detecting viruses and problems on my computer. He said he was from microsoft and he was detecting the problems from the internet and if i did not fix them my computer could crash at any time. He asked me to give him some information from my computer and it was around 7:30 at night. I scanned my computer and no viruses were found. I highly suggest you stay away from this number. I know a friend who had the same problem and they followed the instructions and the motherboard in result was fried.

Got a call from these guys.  They tried to verify that I did indeed have a Windows based PC.  I told them that I did, they then told me that they had been monitoring my computer from "Microsoft Security Network" and to run the EventWVR.  I explained that it was impossible for me to download "bugs" onto my Windows system, as it was not hooked up to the internet, and hadn't been for many many years (I have an old P3 that runs XP that I use for playing certain games on).  I told him that I had switched to Linux a couple of years ago because I kept getting calls from people telling me my system was infected and that they needed to go in and "Fix the bugs".

He hung up on me.

I since have signed up for every telemarketting scheme I can find online and used 607-594-4642  as my contact number.  Hope they enjoy the calls!

Got a call 16.05.2012 (in DK) from an person with India accent speaking bad english. He asked me to start up EventVWR on my private computer, since they had monitored that a malicious file had been downloaded to this (Hmm, I was wondering how they could detect that it was on my "private" PC ;-) )
His "friend" took over, since the first guy could hardly spell the EventVWR program name.
I took the number 001 607-594-4642 during the call, where they tried to make me nervous about some red errors (!) in the log of the EventVWR program.
I tried to asked more questions, and he tried to make me "more" nervous, however after some time he gave up and hang on the phone.
My advice  - don't spend time on these calls, but simply disconnect the call.
NO Body will contact YOU (except the police in person!), and tell you that you have downloaded e.g. malicious file etc.

Got a call this morning from this number by a lady who barely spoke english claiming to be from microsoft contacting me that my computer notified them that I may have a virus. They asked me to turn on my computer... that was as far as I went along before I hung up.

thanks for info. I got one and just didn't answer it and programmed it into my phone as a scam so if they dial again I will know

This number called me and said I received a $7000 grant. The man (who barely spoke English) asked me to verify some information such as age and address. He offered to give me cash via Western Union. He then hung up on me.

they keep calling and saying they want to f**k me, this kind of harassment is just disgusting.

Got a scam call that call return reports comes from this number.  The caller claimed he represented Microsoft and was calling because he got messages from my computer because it was infected with "germs" that came from the internet.  To learn more about the scam, I agreed to turn on my computer and follow instructions. The original caller, who barely spoke English, passed me on to an agent that instructed me to run eventvwr.  He claimed that the error and warning messages were evidence of infections (they are not).  He then asked about my financial transactions on the internet, after which I asked for a return phone number.  He gave a false number he claimed was in Australia and said he would fly to Australia in an hour.
