nice try there guy. even if what you say is true, this number is a scam. why?
because i seriously doubt minnessotta cops need to be calling people all over the country.
if they had the money to do that, why would they need to ask for wait what scholarships? for fallen officers? in hawaii?

well this is a scam. the way this works is at a state level. there is no reason for minessota fop to be looking for money in washington state (my  particular case) we have our own here
anyway, its b***s***, even if you give them money, and they have a heart, i bet you less than 15% of the money goes to minnesotta cops.
again, a scam through and through

Received a call today from this number. Did not answer. Looked it up here and then went to the MN Attorney General's page to do further research.  It appears they are not "Registered" with the Atty Generals office.  Can't wait for them to call back

From the Minnesota Attorney General Web Site
" Note: This organization is listed in the Charities Division database as ?Withdrawn.?

An organization that is identified as ?Withdrawn? is one that has registered as a soliciting charitable organization with the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General in the past, but is not currently registered. This organization may be dissolved, may have merged with another organization, may be currently exempt from registration requirements (but failed to provide suitable information regarding the exemption to the Attorney General?s Office), may no longer be soliciting charitable donations in Minnesota (and therefore does not need to register as a soliciting charity), or may have had its registration lapse for failure to timely file its annual report.

Minnesota law prohibits any charitable organization from soliciting charitable contributions in Minnesota unless it is registered and has filed the required annual reports with the Charities Division of the Minnesota Attorney General?s Office. Minn. Stat. §§ 309.52 and .53 (2004). Soliciting charitable organizations that fit within statutory exemptions are not required to register or to file annually with the Attorney General. Minn. Stat. § 309.515 (2008)."

They left the call open, so you could hear a switchboard type banter in the background, but no one came to the line. Our voicemail answered the call.

Ny last message on this (I should have checked everything out first). The number is legit, according to their web site. Guess they do make cold calls after all. I still won't give them anything.

They identified themselves as the Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police (FOP MN in the caller ID). They want money. The organization is legit, but the call apparently is not. The police will tell you that the organization does not make unsolicited calls asking for money. At least, this is my understanding from reading other posts.

Do you just make this crap as you go along? Simply call the number back and they give you the option to remove your number. It works. Yes, they are for real and are paid a small amount as fund raisers. Be careful what you say, people get sued for slander all the time on the web.

If this organization is really a "Christian" org, then they may want to get out their bibles, because they are acting in decidedly UN Christian ways.

Calling at the times they call is against the law. Calling people when they've been told to put the number on the do not call list is also illegal.

And, of course, keeping 60-80% of the money that you raise, instead of giving to the organizations who hire you is decidely against the teachings of Christ, although, technically legal.

Just don't answer the phone, people. They won't honor your request to stop calling, they are getting paid by the donation.

BTW: the DNC list doesn't prevent fundraisers from calling, only those who are selling. You have to tell them specifically to put you on THEIR do not call list. In those words.

They are calling me quite a bit and do not leave a message. I do not answer the phone. The number that is calling me is 612-808-5665. I am very tired of them calling as one time I did answer the phone and they wanted me to donate money. I also recognize the other number they use 612-808-5568.

Thank you,

mine was a robo-call.   sounded very real, but then when I asked a few questions, got 'taped' responses.  this is a scam.... the robo-attendant did say that 27% of every dollar goes to the FOP.  27!  That's as low as I can possibly imagine.  This is not helping build a connected community....

I continue to receive calls even after requesting to be removed from their list.  I work for Fire Dept and this organization does nothing for your local depts.  I left both a message and sent an e-mail requesting removal from their list.

My wife and I have received several calls from this number over the past several weeks.  They do not leave a message.  Today we were not home when they called (we have caller ID and do not normally take calls from numbers we do not recognize).  I called the 6128085568 number on my caller ID and  got a menu telling me to press 1 if I wished to make a donation, press 5 and stay on the line if I wanted to be on the MN FOP do not call list.  I did this but hung up when I was given the option of leaving a message.   After finding this website and reading the other entries, I am convinced that these calls are a scam and would like them stopped!!!!!

Non-profit Organization
Thanks for the info. you guys posted here. We've been getting calls from  "MN FOP"  612-808-5568 lately, too. And though I just don't answer them anymore, it's annoying nonetheless. (And we are on a do not call list, by the way). But I called them back like a previous poster said, and was able to use their automated system to remove my number from the list.

They called today but I didn't answer and they left no message.  Their website states:

FUNDRAISING

The Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge (MNFOP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving its members and the communities they serve. As a result, each year the MNFOP donates our time, talents and money to several well deserving organizations such as the MN Special Olympics and Easter Seals just to name a few. Our support, however, does not end at the Minnesota state line. We also provide support in the form of supplies, funds and manpower to officers in other sates when tragedy occurs, for example Hurricane Katrina.
In addition to these groups, our support is given to officers and their families during times of sickness, injury or when the unthinkable happens and an officer loses his life in the line of duty. Many people think that when an illness, injury or death occurs insurance covers the loss, this is far from correct. The MNFOP provides funds and manpower to the officer and their families to make a tragic situation a little easier to tolerate.
These funds also allow the MNFOP to monitor legislation at both the State and National level by enabling officers the opportunity to not only create laws, but also update laws that both protect and serve officers and the general public alike.
In order to maintain all this support, we currently use phone solicitations as our major source for fundraising income and have consistently done so since 1993. The MNFOP is currently using Corporations for Characters (C4C) as our solicitors of funds. C4C is a Christian based group located in Salt Lake City, Utah. If you receive a call from C4C, the called ID will read, ?MN Fraternal Order of Police? with the phone number, 612-808-5568; the local office is located in Golden Valley, MN. They use a combination of a live person and prerecorded messages to answers any questions that might arise during contact with an individual. This format insures that the message the MNFOP wants delivered to the public is both correct and consistent.
If you have any additional questions concerning our telephone solicitation, please email me @ gcayo@aol.com

Sincerely,

Gary Cayo
State President
Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police

When they call asking me for donations, I ask them if they are a cop, they always say "no".  I then ask them if they have donated yet and they always say "no".  That is when I hang up.

I got a call from 612-808-5568, they asked for the lady of the house which was very strange and seemingly that the lady of the house would somehow fall for this easier then say the man of the house.  I hung up and they kept calling and calling.  They said they were from Golden Valley police order.  This is no way to solicit donations for a legitiamate charity.

This is not legit.  If they were, they'd politely take a "no" and stop harassing you.  Fire departments and Police departments receive funding from taxes and from events.  With all the budget cuts, the police and fire departments have even less time--why would they waste it cold calling for money, "begging" for it?
