This is the reply I got today from him:

Once again, thank you for your interest in being my daughter's caregiver. I hope that you will treat this as seriously as if she were your own daughter. You need to understand how she feels about losing her mother. I have made the decision not to remarry again because of that. I have taken her as my everything and have promised to take care of her with all I have, but I do need your help. She is very dear to me.
Please, I am telling you this just for you to understand the kind of love that I have for my daughter, and I want you to attach such love and understanding to her too, so she won't really feel the absence of her mother . I have sent your details to my company and will let you know if I have any update as soon as possible. Rest assured, you already have the job.

I look forward to meeting you as soon as possible

Thanks again!
Best regards,
Eddie.

I got the same emails about the nanny job in Seattle. It is a scam! This is what I got after I respond his first email.

Thank you for all those details! It really helps me to make a choice, since many people have replied to my post. After deciding and keeping my daughter in mind, I have chosen you to take care of my little girl. Right now, I am doing personal business
and she needs all of the attention she can get. Please, I want you to understand that my daughter is still a little girl. She deserves all the care and love from you. I will be
paying you for the first week before Diane arrives (January 20th). My business will actually be paying you, because they decided, when my wife died, to take over. You will be meeting with my sister at the airport on our arrival day but right now she is in London with her newly wedded husband for their honey moon but will be back to meet you soon. I am very happy that I have found you and I want you to promise me that you will look after my Diane and take her as if she were your own little girl too. I would really appreciate your help. I will attach pictures of my family here. Since Diane is only 5 years, a picture of you would probably be nice for her as well.
Tell me your schedules and how you can fit this in and I will get the address
of my new home and give you all of the details after speaking with my agent. If you could just please confirm to me that you will accept my offer for my little girl, that would be wonderful.

Please feel free and provide your following details for

documentation and also for a criminal background check.

Today I got an answer from this person with the same content about being chosen and need to meet his sister at the airport etc, and I'm not going to answer anymore. I sent my CV to him with my initial application, in reponse he sent the pic with his so called daughter, and requested my photo along with my address etc. How do you think we should behave towards him? I am thinking of reporting to the Craiglist administration. What you think of it? For your information I'm putting his email below:

I got the exact same email saying I got the job and was to meet his sister at the airport. It sounded fishy to me also so google to the rescue!
Definetly too good to be true! Luckily he only got phone numbers and no addresses so I'm not too concerned, but I he will not get anymore emails or information from me.

BEWARE!!

Hello. I replied to the exact same job on craigslist in sacramento, ca and just received an email from "Eddie Chamberlin" this morning telling me that I got the job and that I am to meet his sister and daughter at the airport next week to start work. I just googled his name as well because I was a little suspicious. If anyone has any other information about a babysitting job with this person, I think we would all like to know! Thank you for any responses!!

so i have not yet recived a phone call however i recevied this reply email to a babysitting positon from this so called Eddie Chamberlin. does anyone know if this could be a scam as well? please help!!!! thanks.

Thank you for your response. My name is Eddie. The past three months of my life have been hectic. My wife died of breast cancer and left me with my 5 year old daughter, Diane.
This isn't something I like to talk about a lot, but it's crucial information that applies to taking care of my little girl. Right now, I am out of the city for business. Diane is currently staying with her grandfather a bit away, but she will be arriving shortly back to the city, precisely by January 20th . After a talk with my father-in-law, we decided that it's best she move back with me, but we need a nanny/babysitter for help with her. We are looking for a responsible and caring nanny. We expect you to revolve around Diane, but still have your own life as well. You can go to your classes and schooling and report to Diane as soon as you are done with them. The general monthly pay is $2000.00 for live out and $1500 for live in. We would be willing to pay more (or less!) depending on the experience you have. We will be responsible for your transportation, unless you have your own. It wouldn't affect your salary, no matter where you live. You will be working with my sister and also a housekeeper for a while before I fully arrive back to the city. Once I arrive back, it will just be you and the housekeeper. We are strongly searching for someone of well-mannered attitude, neatness and a good sense of relationship. We are a Christian family and we, so basically everything we do is according to our doctrines. I don't mind your religion but just letting you know so we don't offend you.. If you are interested in this offer, please answer all the questions below so I can have a brief idea of you:

1) What other things are you tied up in? (School, another job, etc)

2) Do you have any relevant certificate to back up your

babysitting/nanny career?

3) How old are you?

4) Are you married?

5) What is your zip code or current city?

6) Do you have any crime records?

7) Do you have a valid bank account? If yes, what bank? If no, could you get on?

8) Tell us more about your attitude...(patience, understanding, etc)

9) Can we have one or two reference's from you? Email address or phone number.

10) Can you handle money if you are given an assignment to carry out?

11) Would your spouse/partner/parent be in support of you doing this
job?If you have any questions about this offer, feel free to get in touch with me.. Hours are pretty much flexible. Weekends are optional. Afternoons are mainly when we need help. Will be looking forward to your swift response.

Thanks and have a wonderful day,
Eddie

Ah ha!  I am in Houston, and got contacted off of Craigslist here by this man.... With his third email to me, I am now awaiting delivery of 7 laptops for the install of software and a "certified" check."  I did as suggested by Nomo and checkout out the IP of the email (41.138.185.24) and low and behold, it is not exactly the same as the number referenced by Nomo, but falls within the parameters of all the IP addresses African Network Information Center (AFRINIC) uses: 41.0.0.0 - 41.255.255.255. That info is displayed here: http://whois.arin.net/rest/ip/41.138.185.24.

Eddie Chamberlin is the name used as well, and that is how I found this forum, by Googling that name.

I will see if a delivery attempt is made for the laptops by a legitimate company, and would expect that the "certified" check with instructions will be included.  If the check is over the amount of our agreed upon price, I will check the validity of the check with the issuing bank.  If bad and a fraud, I will contact the authorities and provide the laptops, software, and all that came with the "package" along with the emails.

I will bookmark this site and come back with an update probably this week.

What the hell I just got scammed I guess. I thought this was actually legit. I read the ad he needed people to fix his laptops,so replied to it, gave the guy my name and address. Now im assuming that he's going to send me this check you guys are talking about and do the same thing to me. So what do I do, I dont want anyone coming to my house. I just emailed him now and told him not to send me anything. What should I do?

The e-mail is sent using a google account. but the originating IP for the e-mail is 41.71.148.12. That IP shows up as registered to the African Network Information Center. Clearly a SCAM. Be careful!

It is one of the very common scams on craigslist.com

Guy sends you the big check, tells you to take fee for your services from it and send the rest to his "shipper" using money gram. 2 weeks later your bank figures out that check you deposited was fake and wants their money back. If you don't have it, they charge you for forgery.
