Nancy, the way the law was written charities ARE allowed to call you. If you don't like it, write to your Congressman and Senators asking them to remove the exemption for charities, because it's clearly being abused.

BTW, I came here b/c I got junk mail from them. I was about to leave some items for them to pick up, but before I give to a charity, I first go on the Internet to see if they use telemarketing.

That is the most horrible thing I think I've ever heard in a long while.  They may not have followed through with your request, but to slam every Chicago teacher is way more ignorant than them inconveniencing you.  Shame on you.

Get calls several times a week.  Never eave a message and if I answer they immediately hang up.

Epilepsy Foundation. It's been over a month now and they still won't quit calling even though I've asked numerous time to be put on their Do Not Call list. Considering legal action.

Called today as SAVERS on the Caller ID. I checked my Comcast (Xfinity) Call logs and they have called 14 times since OCT 14 of last year. However, they've only called my dedicated Fax line. So I'm guessing that if it is the Epilepsy Foundation, they're using a tone-deaf robo-dialer.

Exactly.  Mine also says SAVERS.  It's getting quite annoying!

If the call is from the Epilepsy Foundation, then why does caller ID show the name as "SAVERS"? Probably a phony fund-raiser.

Since your CEO makes such a large sum why not stop the calls and find more satisfying ways to raise money like holding fund raiser dinners and charge $100 a plate, or host a marathon. This way the funds can go for your cause and be tax deductible as well. TAKE THE HINT AND STOP THE CALLS!!!

And here we are in December and still getting calls from them. This is months after they promised to take me off of their caller list. I seriously doubt this is a real charity as they are showing all the signs of the typical scam artist.

Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, please...stop asking for donations from the same homeowners over and over again when they tell you they don't have anything to donate. It's just rude and only makes your organization look worse and worse with each call you make.

CID=Epilepsy Chgo.  I have been receiving these calls every day, sometimes two calls in a row.  I believe this is harassment and should be considered a telemarketer.  I am on the "do not call list".  What a joke.  I still get a lot of calls like these.  I have never answered any of the calls, yet they keep on coming.  I will definitely not donate to an organization who solicits with harassing phone calls.

I whole heatedly agree to all previous comments!  I too donate gently used goods to charity trucks.  However, after donating just once after receiving a card in the mailbox, I too get two phone calls a day once in the morning and if ignored once in the evening at 8:00 on the nose when phone calls like this should not happen.  It is rather annoying especially when I am getting ready for bed at that time and don't want to talk to anyone except my husband!  Needless to say the number is blocked in my phone and I no longer donate to them, I call another charity or just go to Goodwill.

Calls even though you tell them to stop, this is harassment. Block the call.
