Bonnie ,
Good work !
This is what I found and note the ..... 631 area code.
My best bet would be 'Young Stock Brokers' doing data mining trying to find more clients in these poor times ! And yes , they are very rude and always trying very hard to get any information they can.

Phone number showed up on phone ID.
Number is bogus.
My educated guess is it is a hacker doing data mining or a collection company
whos tactics are such that they do not want to be reported.

Called everyday last week while my boss was on vacation. When I said he was out, the hung up. They called today, I put them on hold to as my boss if he wanted to take the call, which he did not, when I asked to take a message, they hung up. Caller ID says NBTY, caller said "JTF out of New York." Quick google search finds horror stories of this "company" swindling money from people, including a company that was starting up with the purpose of finding missing children.

MULTIPLE CALLS A DAY. HANG UP IF WE DONT TELL THEM WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR. VERY RUDE. TRY TO GET THE BOSSES CELL NUMBER ALL THE TIME. AWFUL.

I've been getting calls from this number for over a year. Based on the number displayed, this look like caller ID spoofing to me. Callers can spoof caller ID with m-a-n-y smartphones today, as well as by using Skype. (Caller ID spoofing has become a much larger problem with the advent of the smartphone application for spoofing.)
It might not be NBTY after all. What to do? If I can engage the caller is a conversation so that he/she reveals their identity. I would then post their identity on this message string.

It is looking like this guy may be using a smart phone app that lets you spoof another number. My daughter had this app and the caller ID showed the call as coming from a city office in a nearby town. It also allows you to disguise your voice (female to male and vice versa. NBTY may or may not be the real name of the company.

This number 6312000000 calls and the caller ID shows NBTY. They ask for our CFO and I always reply he is in a meeting. Then they hang up.

Someone named "Jason" called my phone number and asked for the CEO of my company, by name, but would not further identify himself. Because we receive many unsolicited sales calls, I asked to "take a message." His next question: "are you on drugs?" was grounds for me to hang up. I don't know what company this person represents, but if I were them, I'd fire him. His behavior was completely unprofessional. Given that he knew our company name, the full name of our CEO and was so aggressively rude, I must assume he was some kind of telemarketer or salesperson.
I do know that the area code for the call is a New York code. Wish I knew more...I'd love to have this joker fired.

Unemployed for over three years! Offer me a job or leave me alone.
JustB 2011-06-15 18:12:20 Unknown
I totally agree with you. I always know when it's a "junk call" when they ask to speak to Joe instead of Joseph.
JR's Demolition 2011-06-13 18:51:41 Unknown
Calls come in and the caller can'teven get the person's name correct he is calling for and when ask to take a message they hang up on you. I attempted to call back but you can't get through on the number that comes up on caller ID.
Bonni 2011-06-10 17:51:05 Unknown
The number comes up as NBTY they were very rude!! So i called the bosses they said they have no idea who they are and they must have faked the caller ID so when they called again the said they are John Thomas Financial who knows if it is the truth

I wish there was a way for me to forward a voicemail from my phone system to one of these contacts for NBTY that Laverne found....I would think (hope!) that they wouldn't be very pleased that their employee left a message like that!
Sierra from CT 2011-05-11 13:01:41 Unknown
I received a voicemail message on my work telephone line on 5/11/11 at 8:22am. My callerID displayed the caller name as "NBTY" and the phone number as "631-200-0000."
The message that was left included almost a full minute of the caller doing nothing more than chewing into the receiver followed by a comment made to his co-worker about the shoes he's wearing (which involved some very colorful language). The message ended with the caller making a vulgar comment about a particular sexual act he enjoys. No name, no call back number, no reason for the call.

Caller ID showed this number and NBTY, some vitamin/nutritional seller or manufacturer...found this on them....I think we should start calling them and bothering them.

Hey!! Not everyone from New York are "blooming idiots"!!!!
John Thomas Financial receiver 2011-04-21 15:23:26 Telemarketer
Heh! These guys have been calling just about every day for months. Years, even! They are very aggressive, hoping to intimidate the screener into transferring the call to the owner so they can pitch their stocks and commodities. I just got a call and I refused to let it through, and the guy did not believe I wasn't the owner (because I am a guy, I guess). It was absolutely hilarious. Don't let these people intimidate you, have fun with them!
What is really funny is they always assume the owner goes by an informal name. Say the owner goes by "Stephen," they will always start off the conversation with "Yeah, let me speak with Steve."
Mikes Manager 2011-04-20 23:03:12 Unknown
What a nut, if they had a clue and not acted like they just getting back to the owner, when the owner just isn't around, it is easy to spot these pests, but hard to get them to quit calling. I don't think the do not call list works. Our phone lines have been listed, but does't slow down these callers.
Catherine 2011-04-19 18:33:52 Unknown
Nice! I should do that the next time he calls.

Received a call from this number at 8:30 am. Caller, one "David," asked for our company president. Said he was from John Thomas Financial. I knew it was what we call a "junk" call, so I left him languishing in park mode on our phone system.

Crazy fool called from this number and ask me if I was who he asked for and when I said that i was , all he could do was hang up the phone. Some people are stupid and they can't come in out of the rain. The caller never said anything but a bogus name of who was calling and when you try to call them back to see what they want, the call won't go thru. You can't call them back by using that number. The call came from somewhere in New York. That means they are most likely a bunch of blooming IDIOTS. Looks like his mother would have taught him to do something better than to play with the phone.
