Dec 10, 2007 received phone call from woman who would not identify herself claiming to have a package to be delivered from an overnight delivery service.  Caller ID 636-220-8701 could not be called back, but found as residential land line near Manchester, MO.  Anyone else getting this call?  How is this line escaping the Do Not Call List?  Is it a scam?

This call came in on my cell phone 636-220-7376.  I didn't answer and no message.  It appears from deeper research to be from a company called Players National Locator http://www.playersnational.com/index.asp .  They appear to be a skip tracing company based in or near St Louis MO, with a specialty in mortages and foreclosures, and foreclosure deficiency recovery.  It makes sense in my case, as I am struggling to sell a house prior to it being foreclosed on.  Best of luck to anyone in the same boat.

I just received this call and the caller identified herself as a representative from Overnight Express asking for my husband.  She said that she had a package that would be delivered in 24 hours.  When I asked who it was from, she said PO BO 288, Chicago IL.  We have not ordered anything and I will wait to see if in fact a "package" arrives.

These are debt collection agencies that are contacting you, and what they are doing is illegal.

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/fdc.shtm

So Savana, I hope you realize you are violating a federal law.

"Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General's office and the Federal Trade Commission. Many states have their own debt collection laws, and your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights.

The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad."

Contact an attorney in your area and see if there is grounds for a harassment suit.

Its not a scam.  Perhaps you should all be paying your bills.  Eventually, it will catch up with you.

They called my parents house (I have not lived there for over 20 years) and told my dad that they have been trying to deliver a package to my house. The lady said that the package would be delivered within the next 48 hours. I can't beleive that a reputable company would act this way so I have to assume it is some type of scam.

I have been getting this number on my ID and it rings up as Players National.  Looked them up online and it's a skip trace company.  Maybe we all owe some over due bills?

i answered from this number and got the same routing others have posted on similar numbers . . . a girl from 'overnight express' in st. louis, MO wanting to verify address for a package.  she had my name and address and said the package was coming from a po box in chicago.  it didn't seem right so i did some investigating and found all these others on this site.

i did a *57 to start a tracer and then called to report it to the at&t annoyance call bureau at 1-800-769-4099 and to our local authorities.

So far I have not had any more calls, nor have I received a package, but did report it to the local police just for documentation.  I have also notified my banks and check my activity frequently - again, so far nothing.  I also found the service provider for the number is a company named Charter Link 888-438-2427 and filed a complaint that one of their customers is committing a crime.  They are supposed to investigate and call me back in 5 business days.  If more people complain to the company receiving the payment for that number, maybe they will investigate a little further.  I also notified my service provided and complained since my number is on the National Do Not Call List.  Is there a common denominator for us????

I got a similar phone call, but from a 636-220-8698 number.  The woman said she had an overnight package for me and needed to confirm my name and address and then also had my ex-husband's address.  The package was supposedly coming from a P.O. Box in Chicago Illlinois.

On Dec 8, 2007 I received a phone call from an unidentified woman at this number who said a package would be delivered in the next 24 to 36 hours and would I be home to receive it. She did not know who was sending it.  She said it was from a PO Box 288, Chicago IL. A directory search on this phone # returns it as an unlisted, residential landline near Manchester, MO. I dialed *69 to get the number after the call.

I received a strange call from a woman who said she is trying to deliver a package for me. The address she had is the one I had 10 years ago. When I started asking questions, she hung up. I dialed back but could not connect.

Anyone else got this call? Is it a new scam?
