Same scenario as everyone else, although he has been contacting me through two different numbers.  the 646 numbers and a 707 number.  I caught on right away as I was curious why someone would send me money so that I could pay for the moving service.  I played with him for a few days and then once I received the check, I wrote on the check "you've been scammed" and texted it back to him.  Haven't heard from him since.

This man is claiming to buy things on Craigslist.. He sends you checks over the asking price and you are to cash the check and send a money gram to his movers.  It is FAKE FAKE FAKE,..  Do not do this..  Contact your local police department. He operates out of NY, SC, TX, TN, NE  the checks are written on Ameritrade Clearing..

This guy is texting me right now about a piano I have for sale on CL. Figures.... Luckily I have not completed any business with him. Glad I ran his number through Google! Thanks everyone

I placed an ad on Craigslist about the sale of a piano and received a text from this number that Dave would like to purchase the piano and would be sending his delivery person over to pick it up. He stated that he hoped he could" trust me" so that he  would be sending me additional funds so that when the delivery person arrived that I would need to pay him the overage for the delivery. I received a cashiers check by way of the next day postal service with the cashiers check inside.  I took his cashiers check directly to CHASE bank which immediately identified it as a FRAUDULENT CASHIERS CHECK. I gave them everything I had on this DAVE person in hopes he would get caught. Of course he was hoping that I would deposited this into my account and give him the refund.   EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW it takes 10 BUSINESS DAYS TO CLEAR A CASHIERS CHECK  NEVER USE YOUR OWN FUNDS AS COLLATERAL. He has an associate and he texted me from 224-585-9813  this was the person that was to make the pick up.

Gezus! I just got same thing thinking CL was a way too go and I actually had a piano for sell...boy o boy so glad I checked these sites....OMG! Tried to get me to send a "MoneyGram" to someone named Antino Oliveira, in Coleman FL 33521. Thanks for Posting reveiws....whew.

I had the same thing going on, I even talked to him and told him bank won't cash check. he hung up on me.

He's still doing the same thing.  He is using this phone # also -- 1-312-298-9286.

As soon as he went into his spiel about me cashing his check and wiring money to his movers, I emailed him that I wouldn't do that.  Now, I wish I had agreed to it -- with no intention of following through.  It would have felt good to hand the check to the police.

I didn't get hurt, but I learned a lesson about checking out phone numbers.

Same thing happened to me. Trying to sell my drums on CL. Luckily for me, I read up on his contact info! Always google the phone # and email address, there are plenty of good peeps out there trying to look out for one another.

Man by the name of dave responded to my craigslist ad and said he was going to send a moneyorder for more than my asking price and that I was to pay the shipper with the excess.  This is a scam ancd after confronting him he called me from a phone and not t he typical google phone #. This needs to be stopped. By posting the phone numbers and details here will hopefully help in a criminal investigation. The numbers used were 7158693274 and 8049084797

Sent me forged cashiers check for a piano listed on CL. Goes by the name of Dave Chase. Scammer.

Yep, just got the same message from this number. Definitely a scam. Seller beware!

The EXACT same thing happened to me! He wanted my address to mail me a payment, take my portion, and pay his movers. Didn't sound right so I declined.  Scary stuff! This is my first time encountering this.

I wish I had googled this number before responding to him.  I have a piano on CL and he asked what my final price was.  He has been obviously doing this since last year why hasnt someone done something about him yet especially if he sent a bogus cashier check before.

Got my 3rd message from "Dave" today.  I asked him to say hello to his wife, the Queen of Nigeria.  Of course, I'll have to wait for his response since he'll need to go to his translation app to see what I said.

Pretty much talking to this guy now. All of this information you all have posted matched what he has said..I called him out on it and he has not responded.

Same thing happened today to me.  I have received several like this.  My add does state no emails or text.  I will not reply to these.  Glad this site came up when I put the number in.  Thanks to everyone for posting!

Same here.  Piano for sale in Savannah GA.  Texts (texts?) were going weird so I googled.  Called himself Dave.  Idiot.

Whoa! This just happened to me in the exact same way. CL should publish this # with any pianos for sale. Lol!

Got a text message from this number saying "Hey, I saw you (can't spell I guess) piano on Craigslist, what is your final price? Dave".  I couldn't figure out why that area code was texting me because it wasn't one I was familar with.  I did a quick check on that phone number and found this posting.  Glad to see these postings about this scammer.  Hope others haven't been taken by them!

OMG, he text me the exact same thing, but i DO have a piano on cl, then he asked what my final price would be and said he would send a money order, that i should cash, keep my part, then pay his movers. it sounded wrong to me, thats why i googled the number. im taking my phone to the police station and am going to show them the texts and this site
