I got a call from 646-417-9501 on Dec 4 2012 at 11:47 Eastern time but did not leave a message. I am on the DO NOT CALL list, if they are a legitimate company they know better not to be calling my number.

One of the ways they get our info is from the Credit companies who SELL our info. this should be illegal PERIOD.  I'm writing my federal and state reps and pushing them to pass a law that not only makes it illegal for the Credit bureaus to sell our info without our consent but to make a felony. Right now unless you tell them not to sell your info they are free to not only sell it but to sell incorrect info. If you don't start making your reps pass a law about this it will only get worse. http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml We need to take back our information. Did you know that every time one of these criminals asks for information on you your credit score is effected negatively?

i recieved a call from these people - something about my credit card rates- (which is a lie because I have no credit cards.)   i pressed a number on my phone and got a live person- who said "you requested an operator to lower your interest rate?" when I said no, the creep  hung up on me. Not sure who these people are however my number is on the do not call list and I am not happy about how they ignore that and continue to call.  I tried to call the number back but got nothing but dead air- if anyone  knows how to contact these people pls post it so I can call them and demand they refrain from calling my number

Today, Wednesday, December 5, 2012, I received yet another call from this number. When the call is answered there is a recording with a females voice that states it is the second and last notification I will receive with respect to lowering the interest rate and the amount owed on my credit card. I never carry a balance on either of my cards and I have previously selected #2 on the phone which was supposed to terminate any future calls. I truly hope these blood sucking leaches are severely punished by the appropriate Federal authorities and may Santa Clause put noyhing but deer s _ _ t in their stockings.

Just received a call from the number. This is not telemarketing, it is a straight forward social engineering attack. They want your credit card number and last four of your SSN. And the card number should be for the card with best standing (most credit available).
Something needs to be done about this.

If you get a call from this telemarketer, please file a complaint with the FCC and FTC: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/contact.shtm.  If they receive enough complaints, they'll investigate. In addition, they send information on how to file a lawsuit. Recently, they shut down five of these scams.

This scammer calls numbers on the do not call registry (strike 1) with a recorded message (strike 2) and no operator on the phone when the phone is answered (strike 3). When you do get connected to an operator, they hang up as soon as you ask for the company name. They claim that they will lower your interest rates and lower your payments on your credit cards. No legitimate service would call like this, and every legitimate business will gladly provide their contact information when asked (not to mention that they are required to by law...).

A man called from this number & threatened me. Claiming he was with an agency that knew "where I got my money" & that they had "known for a long time". He seemed to be insinuating that I'm doing something wrong & I find this unacceptable harrassment as I am a disabled grandmother with a clean record & no credit history. The man was extremely pompous & intimated that he was with a law enforcement agency within the federal government. Can't something be done about these people pretending to be police?

Another call from "Card Services". I am reported all unsolicited telemarketing calls to donotcall.gov where all of my phone numbers have been registered for NINE years! I can't believe phone soliciting can be that lucrative if so many people are not answering their phones when the caller is unknown. I NEVER answer.

The national pandemic of telephone terrorism perpetrated by desperate criminal collection agencies and scam artists of every despicable sort is because they are trying to terrorize people who are naive enough to answer and submit to unsolicited telephone calls or written "collection" letters that have no legitimate legal debt associated with them or any of the companies, universities, or whomever else they claim to represent. Because most "little guys" were bankrupted by the criminal Wall St / Congress / Big Oil / Big Bankers / Big Business / Military / Robber Barons, so the desperate collection agencies are attempting to collect unpaid debts from innocent people by terrorizing them into submission. News reports claim that some of these nefarious rogue calls are originating from overseas, where the caller claims to be a relative down on his or her luck who needs hundreds or thousands of dollars to get out of trouble, a policeman or government agent threatening their unwitting victims with lawsuits, fines, garnishments, seizures of property and imprisonment, and any other unconscionable tactic they can use to terrify and swindle the unwary out of their life savings.

Word of advice. NEVER answer any calls you don't recognize or are not expecting. Use selective call rejection service if available, or switch to an Internet-based telephone service which provides comprehensive call rejection options. If rogue calls become chronic, turn off all the ringers on all of your phones except one, and set its volume to the minimum setting. Digital hardware call blockers, the popular "DIGITONE Call Blocker 10" for example, could help or do harm depending on how high-tech and aggressive the rogue callers are against your phone number. The more technology you use against them, the more likely they will use technology more aggressively against you to the point where your phone could ring more frequently from rogue calls and in middle of the night hours. So staying lower-tech could actually help to keep your phone a bit more under their unrelenting predatory radar. If you don't answer the call and the caller is legitimate, they will usually leave a voicemail after the first or second try. Rogue callers almost never leave voicemail messages because that could be used as evidence against them if it came to a lawsuit, albeit spoofed calls are backed by governments and corporations, so there is nothing the little guy can do against such illegitimate activities but to block and ignore them. If you receive a rogue letter in the mail warning you of some "collection" action against you, if you don't actually owe it, reply with a short letter stating that you don't owe it. Or if you do owe all or part of it, reply with something like "You claim I owe you a debt. Under §809 FDCPA, I request validation of this debt."

Only give them your name as THEY have written it to you (e.g. ?John Doe? not ?Jonathon Q. Doe? or however you normally sign your own name), address, and the account number they report. But if you do not owe the debt (zombie debt, aged debt, mistaken or stolen identity, forgery, etc.) state that you have never done any business with them or with the (alleged) original creditor of any kind and you expect the collection agency to close the matter, stop harassing you and take any bad credit marks they've caused off of your credit rating, and furthermore, that any further contact from them must be in writing on their official business correspondence letterhead. Send your letter to them a.s.a.p., always within thirty days, first class certified mail return receipt requested. If they refuse it and you get the letter back unopened, leave it unopened and save it in your files as evidence against them should they pursue legal action against you. If they did receive it and continue to pursue action against you, let them. The judge will throw it out of court. If the rogue collection agency sells your account to another rogue collection agency just tell them the claim has been proven invalid and offer to send them a copy of your letter to the previous rogue collection agency.

Warn all your friends about this rash of desperate collection agency terrorism, and how to combat it. Knowledge is power. The more you learn how to combat rogue collection agencies, back-taxes scammers, phishing scammers, "faith and family" scammers, political action committees and other low-life flimflammers, the more you will learn how easy it is to do.

Above all, keep a record of everything, of every rogue call w/ caller ID information displayed including time and date of each call. Maintain a complete file on any snail-mailed intimidation from rogue collection agencies, including copies of all correspondences and postal receipts. Reporting rogue calls on sites like 800notes.com, whocallsme.com, phoneowner.info is a great idea too, because many people find these sites by googling for the rogue number(s) after receiving calls from them.

I encourage everyone to go to donotcall.gov and file a complaint on EVERY unwanted call you get.  Maybe if we barage the FTC with complaints, they will get off there lazy butts and honor there promise they made to us 10 years ago to stop the SOB telemarkerters.  If they would at least make good on the promise to fine them, we could at least reduce our national debt three fold.

We receive a call once or twice a day from this number and have for at least the last year, probably longer. Initially, we answered the call listened to the recorded message and selected option 3 to be taken off of the list. Obviously that did not work. We now just let it ring but it is at least a nuisance and at most harrassment. Somehow this company "Card Services" should be shut down!

People dealing with pest like the scum behind these calls is easy and you do not have to drive yourself crazy doing it either. When these scum call and you see on your callerID these numbers you do not reconize all you have to do is pick up the phone and hang it right back up.Yes it is that simple!! After you do this a few times they get the message and will stop calling for a while. Why would you waste your time answering these calls from numbers you do not know??? Do not waste your time calling the FTC or any of these other usless government groups either as that does no good and for god sake do not waste your time with the do not call list. The do not call list was created by the government to encourage citizens to confirm personal information. This information is confirmed when you submit it to register.
