Call from this number appeared on caller ID; call was made while I wasn't home. No message left, and I had no idea who it might be. Never called back.

This call is from Emblem Health which contracts with Medicare to assist with new members in providing answers regarding any ongoing or other medical coverage a recipient may have. it is just a series of questions such as ongoing coverage through a spousal policy, coverage from a lawsuit, coverage from any other government program. They also remind you that Medicare will be your primary carrier unless you have chosen coverage through a Medicare Advantage Plan (such as an HMO or PPO). It is a legitimate call for those who have recently received their Medicare card.

I received a letter from Medicare shortly before my coverage took effect. It asked that I contact Medicare either online or by calling 1-800-999-1118. This number connects you with mymedicare.gov and it asks you to answer a series of questions by voice reply or pushing buttons, it gives you the option of leaving your phone number to get a "call back" within 10 minutes.
I did receive a call back from Emblem Health on behalf of Medicare and answered some basic questions as to whether I had any other form of medical coverage through a spouse, lawsuit, continued group coverage., etc. They explained that Medicare would be my primary health coverage and I needed to provide the names (not policy numbers) of any supplemental or prescription coverage I had obtained.
It's a legitimate call.

If you have medicare there calling back by your request to make sure you don't have any other insurance other than medicare , I had a car accident and they just don't want to have to pay for someone else's mistake, instead of waiting on the phone this is the automated call back number that connects you to Medicare-Cooridination of benifits line, I called 1-800-999-1118 first and this 646-458-6790 is the number thats calls you back , thats all.
