I received a call from a John Smith earlier today saying the same thing he has told you all but he has a different number now 347-342-1767!!! Who should you contact to report him????

I received a message for Jenny to return Agent John Smith's call and if Jenny does not return his call he will put a hold on her social secuirty number, contact her family members and have a US Marshall come and arrest her, I had to listen to the message 4 times just to understand this amount.  Since nobody by the name of Jenny lives in my house I did not return Agent Smith's call.

I received a call today from someone by the name of John Smith.  I almost laughed because I thought I was listening to "Peggy" from the USA Prime Credit commecials on TV.  This person could barely speak english but was telling me that he has a very serious case against me, had a case number, etc.  and that I owed only $298 dollars.  He stated that he could settle with me over the phone.  I told him I would contact my lawyer and police if I received another call.  Tried to get a physical address as well and he hung up.  Do not allow yourself to be scammed by these idiots.

He keeps on calling me saying that there is a federal investigation against me and my residency. I am a law student who just got 2 federal background checks in Feb. He wanted my SSN number and he claimed to be officer John Smith but clearly was foreign. Ticks me off because I have 2 young children and I will not be threatened falsely and impersonating a fed agent is a crime. I reported it to the FBI because this is not acceptable.

I am so relieved to see that this is a scam...i got a call saying I had a past due student loan and that I had to pay it or else federal charges were going to be brought against me.  I verified with the financial aid office and with my loan holder that my loans were current and no one knew what this number was.  He could barely speak English and he left a voicemail the first time and I reverse phone looked up the number and it said it couldn't find such a number on four of those websites, and then he called back and talked to me.  He said he was from the Federal Crime Department of New York and that a serious case had been filed against me, but since I had a clean background he wanted to help me avoid a lawsuit.  He also said he couldn't send me any paperwork or documentation of what I owed until I made a payment...which is definitely a scam!!!  He also kept saying so you want to go to court as a way of making me stay on the phone...I just read Patty's post above and it sounds like the exact same thing he did to me...ugh pisses me off

Since when do I owe a settlement if I have never been served or gone to court? I'm tired of john smith and john mclane calling.......go make another movie lol

Hi, I received 2 voice mails from this and it went just like this. Hi this is Officer John Smith with the Federal Crimes Department in New York, there has been a serious case filed against you. Your Social Security number is being held by the Government, and your address that we have on file for you is under investigation. If you contact me now I can help you with this matter but you must contact me now, so call me Officer John Smith at 646-470-1673 immediately.

I called the number and he does answer the phone ( Hello you have reached ???? Crimes Unit in New York ) I couldn't understand the word he said before the Crimes because of his accent, but I played his own game with him, I said that I was from the Vermont State Police on a conference call with the Feds and that we needed to get together to talk regarding the phone call he placed to Patty.
You could hear him start to freak out and then he acted like he didn't understand English and hung up the phone on me, So although I am going to report this to the FBI because it is totally illegal to impersonate any agent, I thought you guys might want to have your own fun with this guy just to get some revenge pleasure out of it like I did, I will call a couple of more times, but I plan on calling back and acting like I am a lawyer for myself instead of being myself, and seeing what the whole scam is all about so that I have more information for the Feds. I hope this helps you. Keep me posted.

Well, nothing new here. A nearly non-intelligeble call from officer John Smith of New York. If I did not call back immediately he was regretfully going to have to turn my case over to the courts. Glad I googled this number. Can't believe how many hits I got on it ion google. You'd think the bad guys would be a bit smarter. But I guess they only have to be one step smarter than some unsuspecting citizen.

I hate scammers.

I just got a voicemail from this unknown caller who said he was an officer., stating my older brother, who doesn't live here anymore, has been filed with a lawsuit and his social security is hold and is under investigation. From the way he was speaking, he had an accent, which I found quite humorous, since his name was James Anderson. He said he's from the Central Times Dept. Don't know where "America-da" is located, since that is where he said he is from.

I too got a call from this number. Sorry to say if you have that bad of a foreign accent and you say your name is John Smith or Sean Micheal you know its a scam!!!! Also spoke to a detective regarding this. He said scam scam scam. Do not talk to these people!!!!

I also recieved calls from this number. Stating I owe a settlement. I have no idea what type of scam this is but when my husband said My lawyer will call back they hung up.
