Same scam - same story - kept her on the phone for a very long time asking her where she was, how she got my name...then she started grasping at straws...said I had a desktop and told her no I had a laptop...then she said maybe it was my husband's pc - his is a laptop too...I told her she sounded like she was grasping at straws and she said no she wasn't so I said I wasn't going to do anything on the phone with her - I wanted her name and number and I would call her back if her information proved not to be a scam.  She was happy to give me this # and her nbame was Kim...she was on the phone with me for about 1/2 hour - I think I frustrated and then frazzled her.  I feel bad for folks who don't know to google stuff like this...they make you feel like if you wait your PC will be fried and possibly every other PC in the house connected to the internet.  Sounded rediculous to me but for a newby or an elderly person I'm sure it would concern them enough to follow instructions.  Not sure how they sleep at night!  She just called back...I told her I had verified that she was fraudulent and she got really excited...said she's not freudulent like me...I lost it!!!!

I just got the same call only this time it was someone with a Jamaican accent claiming to be Jeff Junior from My Windows support. When he asked him which computer were the messages from, he said. "All of your computers are infected because you connect to the internet. When I questioned his authenticity he gave methe above nimber to call where he said I would get a Microsoft 35 Technician. I will call the police to report this, but feel bad for those who get taken in by this kind of scam.

I received a phone call, of course their # was blocked, who sought the same information all others here claimed, namely to inquire of my IP Address - computer error messages. Now, the first thing I did was ask this Gentleman's name, to which he replied, "Nathan Miller". Now, myself residing in a rather Multicultural City, I am very used to various different and unique dialects, accents and names. As such, I was very surprised to hear a man with such a strong South Asian accent to bear the name, "Miller". Anyway, he continued to seek information from me in regards to what would appear on my screen when "I pushed the 'Window' key along w/the control and R keys simultaneously". As I pretended to make such attempts, (ok, I have a MAC, so attempting such a task proved problematic as it was), I was all the while simply "Googling the # he gave me as his contact, 1-646-559-6161". It resulted things like, "SCAMS" and "Don't give this guy any information", etc. Now, I again asked him to explain a bit about the company he was working for and where he was calling from. He said, "Windows and he's calling from Clearwater, Florida". Well, (727) is the Area Code for such a city and his (646) is New York, soooo what gives???? Nothing he said made sense??? I guess "Scammers" rarely do, right?
He finally asked me, "What does it say in the box on your screen, the message, What does it say"? I told him, it says, "STOP WASTING MY VALUABLE TIME SCAMMER!"

We relieved a call from the same phone number and they provided the same fraud reason to get access my computer and they were asking me for computer IP address.

If you don't give them the ip they will get upset and will say stupid stuff.

Just call 911 the police and report them writing in this form is helpful but it is not going to stop them from doing this we need to all call the police and report the issue so they catch them.

Yea my Mom has been getting these calls. They say her computer ID has informed them that the computer is having problems etc etc. She identified herself as Nancy at 646-559-6161. Good scam because  who isn't having computer problems.

Same as all the rest of these phoney callers.  My credit card company remarked that they get a lot of people who are suckered into this trap.  I kept a woman on the phone for about a half hour and got her so mad with my questioning of her wants.  Caller ID always says unavailable most of the time.  Just beware of these con artists.  They will claim to be Tech2techSupport for Microsoft

Same number, same scam.

They wanted me to buy a package to save the computer and clean it;  when I wouldn't buy it, they were upset and wanted to know why.

I told they I was a lawyer and didn't think they were authentic.

Received the same call several times now.  Prior caller has hung up when I've questioned him.  Today he provided the number 646-559-6161.  Interestingly, the caller states he is with Windows Security, but the caller ID comes up as a private caller-which made me instantly suspicious.

hi, i am a Dell employee and all the inbound calls what you get from windows or microsoft or sometimes Dell which says that there is something wrong in the computer and want to take an access of the computer are all SCAMS...so plese do not let them do this call up the manufacturer for the support and do not provide and personal information on the calls, these are not the legetimate calls...

Just happened to my mom.  Her computer screen turned blue and then the screen turned black.  We restarted the computer, the Windows status bar appeared, but the computer never started.  The status bar appeared for 15 minutes.  While the status screen was running, my mother received a phone call from a blocked number.  The caller knew my mother's name and referred to her by name.  The caller stated that our computer was having problems and was infected with a virus and that they were going to help us fix the computer.  My mother asked for the caller's name.  The caller, who had a heavy foreign accent, responded that she was named Sandra and was calling from "Windows System Support."  

My mother handed me the phone.  When I said hello, Sandra somehow knew my name as well.  (I no longer live at my parents and was just visiting.)  My father could have easily picked up the phone as well, so it's strange she assumed it was me.  I believe the caller knew I was with my mother at the time (possibly remote webcam access?).

I asked Sandra for her number and she provided 646-559-6161.  I googled it while I had Sandra on the phone and learned the whole call was a scam.  I asked that if she wanted to continue speaking, I would either need to speak to a supervisor or I would call law enforcement.  She told me, "Why would I jeopardize my job by calling you?"  I repeated my request again and she hung up.

I guess having Norton Internet Security doesn't do much to protect stuff like this.

I got this call, I was naive & allowed them to access my computer, but when they wanted me to fill out their application & to pay them right now that is when I clued in. They started to get upset & passed me to their manager. I told them no. What steps should I take now since the had access to my computer.

They just called again!  This time it was "Sam Smith."  Says the company name is Tech to Tech.  He's happy to give me their number when I say I'll have our IT guy call him.

Same message.  A man with a strong accent claimed that my computer has been sending viruses for two weeks and that he can fix it remotely.  My computer was not even on.  I asked him for his name and number (because I do not have call display) and he gave me Ryan Vixen at (646) 559-6161 from Tech Support for Microsoft Windows.  I should have kept him on the phone as long as possible so he can pay for the long distance charges to phone me! ;-)

They just called me at work and the guy wanted me to let him access my computer remotely.  He said our computers had "downloaded corrupted files over the last two weeks."  I was immediately suspicious. Took his name and number and said I'd have my IT guy call him back.  Gave his name as Eric Smith. Interesting name given the "Allen Jones" in an earlier post.

Just happened in Canada.

Received scam call from this number; was a person posing as "Windows Technical Support and Service" in order to attempt to talk people into giving him remote access to their computers so as to install malware. (As if you'd give some random caller remote access to your computer, but anyway...)
This was the number he claimed to be calling from, in case it turns up on your call display.

From tech support department from Microsoft saying my computer has malware. My computer wasn't even on. He was so anxious to remote in my computer and said my computer was going to blow or something. I'm an IT consultant, so I know what was happening. I asked him for his name and phone number. The name is Allen Jones and left this phone number.
