REPEATEDLY calls threatening law suits. Refers to a loan application that turned out to be a scam that got us for over $2000. Local police had the number and supposed company name on file as being a number that links to a foreign phone number. They apparently have many complaints over it. They say there's nothing we can do about it.

Debt Collector
I have received several calls from this phone number both at work and on my cell phone by saying that they are a law firm trying to collect a debt; the calls at work were from a female caller, the calls on my cell were from a male giving his name as Lloyd Davis.  When I asked what company filed the claim, the man named a company I have no debt history with. Also the amount of required payments kept changing and he asked for payment by Green Dot card only. He then proceeded to threaten me with a suit, loss of my job, criminal charges, etc.  He called again from a restricted number to remind me to pay and then hung up.  I tried to call this number back and I got a message saying the call cannot be completed as dialed.

Received a call on both my cell phone and place of employment from a David Wilson (not American-broken English) telling me to have my attorney return a call to 646-741-7873 in the next 2 hours or I would face legal action both at my residence and my place of employment.  He repeated his number and wished me goodluck as this legal mess unfolds before me...

This idiot left 2 different voice mails on my phone within an hour, the only difference in the message was he said his name was Roy Smith on one, and Roy Miller on the other and they also had different phone numbers. The other number was 786-467-0119. When I called back he answered the phone with "hello", no company name or anything. He then asked me my number, what was the number I called, and what was the name in the message. He said I had an outstanding loan, and if I didn't pay up all sorts of bad things were gonna happen. And that he would have me behind bars on Monday. I laughed and said "Dude you are so full of s***!" Made him mad and he hung up. What jerks.

I received a couple calls from this same number today, was told that my husband has a debt of 12000 and that he is going to go to jail for a very long time and that we need to get a lawyer and be in court on friday.  Then I called back because they kept hanging up on me, when i asked to speak to a supervisor, the guy handed me to the guy next to him and then proceeded to tell me to quit wasting their time and that my husband is going to get fired and go to jail.  When they talked to my husband they had a lot of his information including the name of our bank and our email address, however they said his last 4 and his bday wrong, and also had his employer wrong.  They told him also that he was being convicted of fraud and that he was going to go to jail and that they were going to get him fired and that he would never be able to apply for social security!   I dont know who these people are but me and my husband are going to talk to a lawyer about them tomorrow to try to keep this from happening to others.

Lets see how they like dealing with the military!

Same thing. This number has called me numerous times with in an hour said I havent paid any payments to a loan I got with them and that they were going to contact my job and get me fired. I never have had a loan and they couldnt even pronounce my name correctly. I called them back told them I was at the police station and that an officer would like to talk to them. He then said they are on break and not accepting phone calls at the moment and 2 mins later they call me again with the same threats. Big scammers.

So far today i have gotten to voice mails on my cell phone, and two voice mails at my job, which is very very embarrassing.  According to them I owe money.  This happened to me about a month ago, and that time i actually talk to an Alfred Smith. I should have known by that generic name that this was a scam.  He processed to tell me that a sheriff will show up at my apartment at 6 pm to arrest me.  When I asked him why, he told me that its was because I owe $300 to a payday loan company, which is not true.  If that were the case, I will not be arrest for owing $300.  He confirmed my address as well as my place of work and my SSN#.  He did however have the wrong bank account number. The he proceeded to inform me that i had to be at my court hearing in Florida at 1 pm the next day, when I love in California! The man was extremely rude and nasty.

Today one the voice mail that I got from a lady named Katherine Straight, with extremely broken English, told me that if i do not call her in the next 2 hours, she would no longer be able to help me and she "wishes me luck"  I'm thinking about taking my phone to the police station so they can listen to the voice mail, maybe they can help stop the harassing.

This happened to me a couple months ago....the calls stopped and now have began again......the calls originally stopped after I knew the facts and demonstrated them to the man. I asked that he send me verification per certified mail in which shows the debt I owe, the company, and for how much.....the man refused.....I also told him I am now requesting that the calls stop now and that this is something that he must do if it is legit!!!! When I stated that he acted very stupid about it. the conversation resulted in the man stating that he didn't understand what I was saying to him....So therefore I replied by saying " what you don't understand English"? That was quite clear! " and if you cant understand English go the FU * K back to your country!" Yeahhhhhhhh he didn't like that so much lol!!!! He said he is in his country and has been here for 20 years. Like I give a rats AS*! I asked him what he wants from me? Believe it or not the man actually said " I want to scam you"!!!! I said good luck with that because your not getting anything from me! He proceeded to call me a BIT*H! I hung up the phone.....Again....the calls stopped after that.....two months later here I am with another Arab calling my phone. get a life and stop preying on people who are working hard and trying to survive. Get a real job!!! I think its funny to make them mad. Afterwards I though maybe I should watch out, I just might get blown up all the sudden considering the way people work in this country today! Here's some advice... tell the gut to go back to his country and to suck on your Titt*!! and laugh along with him... whos the fool now?

I have been recieving phone calls from this number for the past month. Very threatening, saying that I need to return the phone call in 2 hours or they could no longer help ne and jus twish me "good luck."  When I did  return the phone call they gave the wrong last 4 digits of my SS# and still insisted that there was a law suit against me in my city/state. When I stated there most certainly was not he hung up on me. I called the # right back to and it rang and rang. When it was answered it was a recording that the # was not in service. I monitor my credit report and do not have any outstanding debt. He stated that he was calling from a "financial institution." Beware of this, this is a scam. If calls continue I will be contacting the AttorneyGeneral .

Called me 12 times while I was at work and then proceeded to threatened me with the cops and then that they would contact my place of employment to get me fired if I did not pay. I told them I had contacted the better BBB and law enforcement and refused to verify any of my information. They then proceeded to say I would be in serious trouble with the law and that they would find me they proceeded to tell me they did not give a F*** and then disconnected the call. The debt they claimed I owed I called and spoke with the lady I had set up payments with and verified it was not them.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
