Anyone knows who this is?

I recieved the same scam today! I was like yea right Im about to google them and see what pops up! Dang they was trying to get us! My momma didnt raise no fool!

I had submitted a resume from a CL add that I had seen for either a customer service or office aide position (cannot remember, I have sent resumes everywhere). I thought I would check out the Van Buren Capital. This is my email that I recieved. I have never had to fill out a credit report to obtain a job. They stated that they wanted to verify my employment. All of the places that required verification of my employment has either called personally or ran an official background check.

I got the same exact email, saying that I needed to do an online credit report and send it to them! YIKES.

I just got the same e-mail today...Of course googled companies name once I saw the credit report part of the e-mail. That's ridiculous. Most companies do that now a days. I had a credit check done on me when I applied at Radioshack. I had my face to face interview and after the interview I was told that they wanted me on their team, but first they had to do a background check and credit check. It wasn't anything shady like this crap. Geez...It really upsets me...

I got the same email. Any company that wants your financial info is not a good idea....

I just received the same email about 15 seconds ago. It too asked to send my credit report. Yikes! This is very scary. I googled the company and came up with this site. I am so glad I checked it out first. I thought Craigslist would be a little bit more reputable.

me too!! got the same EXACT email about 15 mins ago, I felt somethnig wasn't right, so I called the 646 number and it goes straight to voicemail.  Then, I googled the company and found this page.

I got the same exact reply back yesterday. And yes..while we are all trying to find honest work these yahoo's are trying to scam us out of the little we are surviving on now. Just stay positive and something will come along. :)

I'm disappointed as I am looking for work, so this is very discouraging...I too received email requesting more info (as stated in previous posts)...

I applied for a job as a front receptionist they responded with you are a finalist in the interview process there are only a few steps left just get your credit report and send it in with  this new application.

SCAM is all I can say!!

this was a craigslist job scam, i received the same email

Yes I got the same email for this job posting.  Plus I got a reply (email) about two weeks ago from a person claiming I had to fill out an online application form.  I tried to do that and it was a search toolbar download, my security kept coming up with warnings about the content and even when I got into it nothing about the company to file out.

Than I got this a few days OK.  Did you notice when asking about pass-port (why separated?) and credit report they wrote "ir" instead of OR.  At that point I knew it was some kind of scam or service.

So far both jobs I applied to on Craigslist seemed phony because another one brought me to screens asking about phone service extra's and even with saying no I got one added to my phone.  I got it cancelled but still I became to distrust many of the jobs I saw.

I feel that postings there you have to be careful and how you do that is easier said than done.

I did return a call into the (646) area code previously, it was for CareerBuilders a job service.  But none of the questions they asked me were about personal info other than are you able to work and confirming job skills.  So in some cases numbers from this area code could be valid but still its hard to know everyones angle.

I also got an email from them - same thing.  I can't find a trace of this company.  Most of what I find on craigslist is job scams - and I believe this is one of them. 646 belongs to NY - NY corporation has no listing of them ---see  http://www.dos.state.ny.us/corp/corpwww.html   ---   my advice, this is a scam--stay clear.  quietvalleys@yahoo.com

I received several calls from this number, with no voice messages left and after checking my SPAM folder in my email, I saw a reply from an email I wrote on craigslist about a receptionist job opportunity from home, and the email read as folows:
