Message left from (212) 260-1464 SUSSEX PUB INCO, man's voice asking if I am taking any patients. Definitely sounded fishy to me, not to mention that it's very rare to get an out-of-town caller id this late after tourist season has passed.

Just got it...wish I would have googled before calling back!  Has anything weird happened to those who did call back?

I got a really strange message from this Jeff Hoffman asking if I was accepting referrals for acupuncture for his clients.  The number he gave in the message was 646-763-6372  but caller ID said Sussex Publishing at 212-260-1464.  I have had so many scams come through my office through the years.  This guy was so awkward about leaving his message, I thought I should Google him first to see if my instincts were correct.  Looks like they were.  
Also letting you know that ANY email communication that comes from any kind of  email address containing the letters "doyen" are a really, really bad scam that has been going around for years.  Stay as far away from them as possible.  They run some really intense, expensive and complicated scams on translators, acupuncturists and psycho-therapists.

A man by the name of Jeff Hoffman (not saying anything about what company he's from) left me a message asking if I take referrals; I do acupuncture as well. He asked me to call him back at (646)763-6372. The odd thing is, he called my house phone (where he got my house phone number is questionable and why he would be calling my house about business matters is questionable as well????).

I also received a call asking about my acupuncture practice and if I were taking new patients or referrals.  Caller ID said 212-260-1464 and call back # was 646-763-6372 from a Jeff Hoffman....

Apparently, it's a lawyer's office in New York.  Everything I can find is that it's a cell phone number and when I called it, the person answering was not very willing to answer my questions.

I also received a message from this number, the exact same message you all had referred to. I called back, but I wish I had googled it and found this site beforehand. Hope there are no consequences to this scam. How weird!

I just received a call requesting my services (Health Professional) from the same number-646-763-6372 a NYC area. Thanks for the posts that point to a scam pertaining to Psychology Today. I will not return it!

Latest number for Jane Price is 646 763 5351.  Just hoping anyone googling her info will quickly find out this is crap.

You are on my referral list" and asking for a return call to 646-783-6366. Thanks you guys, now I won't need to bother the doctor with ths phone message

My mom, a clinical psychologist, got a phone call from "Jane Price" asking if she was accepting new patients and leaving the 646-763-6366.  I only got involved because the number was a bit garbled and she wanted to check and make sure she'd heard it right.  Glad to know it's a fraudulent number.

Hey--thanks for the "head's up."  Something strange about the call (Wm Dougherty calling for Jane Price) made me look this up.  I won't need to return the call, now!

Jane Price called and asked if I was receiving new clients, caller ID reports Sussex Publishing with a 212 # but the number she left was 646-763-6366.  I appreciate being able to read about other's experiences that this is some kind of terrible marketing strategy.

I am a therapist in private practice in San Francisco.  I received a voicemail on the weekend from Jane Price, inquiring if I was taking on new clients in a private practice setting.  It was an oddly phrased message, which made me question if this was really from a client.  The number she left was 646-763-6366.  Thanks for all these posts, I know not to call back.

1/28/2010 11:13a: William Dougherty (sp?) calling for his boss Jane Price 646-763-6366, who wants to know about my practice, "and I think whether you are accepting new patients." I called back and got an answering machine. Not sure what these people are up to, but one scam tried on me before is to book an appointment, pay cash, then cancel and ask for a refund. You send them the refund but the original check then bounces. Given this info, I'll be careful.

Received call from Dougherty  - same thing as others have said - calling for his boss Jane Price who wants to know about my practice and (he thinks) if I have availability for new clients - thought it was a come-on of some kind but called back  got Jane's message - left my cell phone number which I am sorry that I did -- just googled "Jane Price" and found this link --  appreciate the info very much!!

October 14, 2009.  Received a phone message from (212) 260-7210 from a William Dougherty ("Dow-er-dy") (sp.) who was calling on behalf of Jane Price (for whom he said he works), who is one of the directors of referrals at Psychology Today magazine.  He said, "Jane has been referred to your practice, I guess."  She would like to do a 5-10 min. brief,  casual interview with me by phone regarding my practice.  I returned the call, leaving a message for Jane Price.

And, interestingly enough, I just noticed I had received a call this morning from (212) 260-1464, but no message had been left.  I just returned the call.  I received a recorded message saying that I had reached Sussex, home of Psychology Today, ____________ (presumably another magazine, but I couldn't understand what the female recorded operator said), and Building Pros.com.  I was prompted to enter an extension number for the person I was trying to reach (Jane Price), but I hadn't been given one in the message from William Dougherty.  So I entered "jane" and pressed #, and was given extension # 248, which I then accepted, and then I heard an outgoing voicemail message for Jane Price.  She states in her message that Michael Anthony's new extension is 222.  I went ahead and left a second message.  We'll see if I hear back.

October 15, 2009.  William Dorherty calls from 212-260-7210 for his boss, Jane Price. He says she wants my services,  in Philadelphia.  He gives me a phone # and asks me to call his boss.  This is a Psychology Today marketing call...Sussex Publishing.  Jane Price is at the same extension number that was Michael Anthony.

Doing a bit of googling, I have discovered that 646-763-6366 is somehow associated with this number:  212-260-7210, which is the main number for Sussex Publishing, who publish Psychology Today.  They also appear to be publishing some listing of service providers for a fee.  I talked to a receptionist, who's name I did not get, but she said there was a Jane Price and a Michael Anthony working in their office.  I am guessing that their approach is an inelegant telemarketing ploy.  They say they want to set up service for their boss, and then they try to sell you on their for-fee service provider directory.  Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess.

I received a call today from Sidney at my work number asking me to call her boss, Jane Price, about psychotherapy.  When I called the number, there's a woman's voice on the end saying that this number no longer belongs to Michael Anthony.  I have not gotten a call back yet.

I received the same phone call from Tracy asking me to call her boss about massage therapy.  After googling the name and finding the same experience I do not intend to return the call, and hopefully they will not pursue.  How very strange.

I received a call from Tracy on Thursday, asking me to call her boss, Michael Anthony, about massage therapy. On Friday, I returned a call to Tracy and found out the following:
Since Tracy did not block her phone number, I called it and found that it was the main switchboard for Sussex Publishing. After going through a little bit of trial and error, I located her. One of the magazines they publish is ?Psychology Today?. When I called her, she had to ask me ?which boss did I say wanted to talk to you?? even though she appeared to recognize my name and knew I was a massage therapist. She told me Michael Anthony was out for the day but I could talk to his assistant, ?Eileen?.  Once I got on the phone with Eileen, she told me that Michael was in a meeting and she was handling his calls. She then began reading a script about their referral service at Psychology Today and went into a boring blah, blah, blah, until I finally stopped her and told her I was not interested because I was going to school full time and did not wish to be listed at this time. Her response was ?good for you, bad for us?.  As soon as I made it clear I would not be participating in the referral service, she hung up on me. The final impression I got was that Michael is not interested in getting a massage but in trying to sell me advertisement space in their referral list. The whole situation was very unprofessional and poorly handled at their end, IMO.

B*****ds had "TRACY" call to book a massage for "Anthoney Michael" while he was going to be in Denver Colorado. I will pray to God & every soul that has ever visited this Planet, to remove this evil from earth and hopefully if fate works they will expire soon. Maybe my friend the troubleshotter could get them, maybe Fate, maybe God, and for the Boulderites, Maybe Karma? I hope they do NO any harm to anybody! I spoke to Michael Anthoney who is an A-Hole and 100% uncooraptive. I am currently reasearching 1,700,000 hits on Goggle to learn about who this man is, then plan to pray, to the universal forces that be, to see if they can become aware of him and do what is right. Whatever that is?

I received the a call as well from "Tracy" ...would not leave much information but asked as well if I could return the phone call to her boss Michael Anthony. Also weird. did not sit well also due to the nature of my business.

I received the same message although on my work cell phone. Very evasive with questions. Makes me a little nervous because of the nature of business I do and she was calling about. Hmmmmm
