I think this number is one of the outbound numbers used by National Post's telemarketers.  My 1 month free trial subscription just expired, and they must be calling me to try to get me to subscribe.

I just called National Post myself at(416)383-2500 - at asked them to stop calling me.  Hopefully, it works.  Good luck everyone.

These people keep on calling and there is no one on the other end of the line.

I thought they where prank calls from kids. The annoying thing is that they have my mobile phone number which I usually only use in emergencies.

As a shift firefighter I am getting extremely annoyed with these calls at all hours of the day... and I can't turn my phone off in case it's a fire.

It would not bother me as much if there was someone on the other end of the line, but prank calls like this.

Surely if it is National Post they can fix the problem so I can get back to saving lives.

This number continues to call my line and then hangs up when I answer. When I call back it says it is out of service. How do I make it stop?

This may be way off base, but how many people who have been called by this number have had National Post deliver to them. I just called and they said it could be that there is a glitch in the system, that's why there is no one there when you answer.

This number has been calling my home phone number repeatedly and each time I pick no one answers. It's becoming rather annoying. And the funny thing is when I call back, it tells me it has been disconnected, how come? From my search it's an ALLSTREAM landline in Ontario. I sure want to know what is going on!!!

This number appeared on display, but as others have noted, is not in service if dialled. Caller asked to speak to previous owner of number, was selling National Post subscriptions.

I was out of town and received roaming charges on these stupid calls coming in, even after I called NP to have my number removed from their call list.  Thankfully they have stopped!

Here is the response I received;

Thanks for your email ? I wanted to follow up with you regarding your note. I was away last week and wanted to make sure we followed up with you.

I apologize for your inconvenience ? I can assure you this is not our normal practice. Our vendor who manages this type of activity for us had some tech issues with their automated dialers which contributed to this problem. Please advise me of your charges and I will arrange (via our tele-vendor) to have them reimbursed to you.

Please provide me your address details along with the amount. As mentioned this is an unusual circumstance however I wanted to address your concern.

Regards.

It is 100% confirmed National Post - even though they have told their Telemarketing Customer Service Managers to stay it is not their number.

They call me 7 time over the last 2 weeks, I answer 5 times but there was no one on the other end of the phone.. so I stop answering until today when they called on an ID 'blocked' line ie. "unknown caller".

Don't let them get away with this, contact Stephen Hastings, VP Marketing & Reader Sales, and get him to stop the calls.

I hope you have better luck than me; but if enough people contact him he might get the message.

I sent an email to the execs and customer service stating the following:

"ATTENTION: NATIONAL POST,

After signing up for a one month free subscription to your newspaper (as an offer from TD Canada Trust), I and many others have been receiving annoying phone calls from your company EVERYDAY at all hours of the day.  I have been told these calls could possibly be coming from one of the call centres used by the National Post.

The number that shows up on my call display is (647)258-3201.  When I answer the call, it immediately hangs up.  If I call it back, I am told that the number is out of service.  I have received around 5 of these calls per day over the past 3 weeks.  I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointed and annoyed I am with your company.

For opinions other than from myself, please see the attached web address:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-647-258-3201

As a past graduate from the ASPER School of Business at the University of Manitoba, I would like to pass a word of caution to you that this incident is quickly spreading negatively imagery and word of mouth of your company.  There are a lot of people who are extremely annoyed and disappointed that we ever had anything to do with your company to begin with.  My advice would be to please find the source of these calls, and have the problem rectified immediately.  I expect that this problem will be resolved immediately following the New Year."

Ok, it is most definitely National Post.

Call their customer service at: 413-383-2500, and choose option 0 for Operator.

This number is their "Attentions Call List" number.  Tell them about the issue, and ask to be put on their Do Not Call list.  Also have them elevate it to their Attentions staff as this is the group that is causing the intrusion for so many of us.

Yes, this seems to be connected with National Post.  They seem to have cut their IT budget back a bit too far (just like their spell-checker and proof-reader budgets).  This is what happens to a company that values dollars over quality.  I'd like to be able to send an invoice to these companies that wastes my time.

Did any of you all subscribe to National Post? (even a free offer?)
I did some research and it seems this number is connected to National Posts telemarketers.

I tried calling National Post to remove my phone number, we'll see how it goes.
