Got a call from  the number 647-478-9555 . The caller had a South Asian accent. told that he was from norton antivirus  and wanted to run checks on my computer  as they were getting complains  that my  pc was sending spams.  and wanted me to  let their superior  control my system . I refused and  asked where their Local office was  and the address..  the guy hung up the phone.

Got the same kind of call as reported by others saying my computer was being hacked.  When I told the cretin that I don't own a computer, he became nasty and said that was not possible, that everyone has a computer.  He kept insisting that this was impossible and saying that I was lying,

Very creepy and annoying!

Got a call from this number today and he said our computer had been hacked into also.  He wanted me to get to my computer right away.  I told him that I was away from my computer and could not get to it now (Lie on my part, because I knew something did not seem right with this call). He said he would call back tomorrow.  How can we stop all of these scam calls??

A man with a foreign accent claims to be working for Norton AntiVirus. He told me someone was trying to hack my computer and he would help me by "scanning" it. Obviously scripted.. he kept repeating the same thing and started shouting in desperation when he knew I was going to hang up.

This number just called with similar report of my computer being hacked. Guy had very bad English and seemed to be working from script. Gave me the 1-888-901-3821 number to call for help. I thought he said northern Internet security but ( lol) it must have been norton. Could not understand him.  He Asked if I could get on my computer at that moment. Told him no. He said he would call back later to see if problem was resolved.  Joy

Caller reported they had a report that someone was trying to access my unsecured computer sites. Wanted me to get on my computer and that is where I stopped him, Said he represented Ryan Simanth Co (not sure of this spelling). When I refused to do what he said he hung up.

Just got a call from this number. Shows Toronto, ON on Caller ID.  Fellow with a foreign accent told me there was unusual activity on my computer, said he would verify. I told him I don't have internet (LOL) so he must be telling me lies.  He asked how do I check my emails and I said I don't use email (LOL).  He said he was sorry and have a good day. (sigh) I know my number is on the DNC list ...

Two calls in two days from Toronto.  One from this number and one from a 416 area code.  I have no idea if this number is still pulling the old 'your computer is infected scam.'  Anybody else receive any recent calls from this number?

Called the number back and was told it was out of service.....Ya Right!! What a pain in the A** these callers are becoming!!!

Received a few calls from this number now.  I started to argue with him today, called him a scammer and he actually started to yell at me! He told me I was being hacked and for me to get to my PC since time was of the essence.

got the same call....saying we just noticed on our network that you are being hacked....I will need you to do this right away to stop it from happening.....Sure I say....what's your IP address so I can trace your location I ask and secure the line......caller hangs up....There has to be a way to stop these scams.  Caller was Long distance from Tel. 647-478-9555.

same here tonight, tell me he detected security issue comming from my internet connection and want to verify a few things, very bad english. Since i'm french speaking i responded in french and he hangup on me.

Something Security  for my lap top and computer- Speaking only English- Barely .... Put him on mute and let him simmer until he hung up!

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Got a call from this number today at my parents house. My Dad hung up on him and he called back.The man was very rude and aggressive so I took the phone and he said somebody hacked the computer. I told him my Dad doesn't have a computer and he insisted someone in the house had a computer.  I said my Mom is in the hospital and my Dad is 73 years old and doesn't have a computer. He kept insisting and being very rude and I told him he was an idiot. And he said " you are the idiot"  So I hung up again and didn't call back. I knew it was a scam because my Dad doesn't even have a computer nor even know how to use one.

got a call from today like the others above. The guy said somebody was hacking my pc. I asked him what is my IP address and he gave me a weird number...good that I'm IT. Can somebody stop them? I guess other people are being caugth...unfortunatelly.

Got a call from this number telling me somebody is hacking into my computer... Very agressive tone...

Received a call from this number claiming to be Norton Anti Virus from Toronto.  He said that my computer was infected and they were receiving warnings regarding my computer.  I think that's funny because we don't even have Norton on our computer.  He asked me to get in front of my computer and enter "cmd" into the run command.  I have no idea what that is or what it would do but no way was I doing it.  I played along and told him that the computer said that no files could be found.  He sounded very confused and wanted to make sure I entered the correct letters.  He was very hard to understand.  I finally excused myself saying that I had something on the stove and asked if there was a number where I could call him back.  He finally gave me 1-888-901-3821 and I was to ask for Eric William.  I hung up and immediately called that number, the message says "extension 132643821 is not available please leave a message".  You think they would have something more formal for Eric William at Norton.  LOL
My advice, don't do anything these people say.  Scan your own computer with your own virus software and if you do have a problem take it into a computer shop.  These people are a scam.

Got a call from this number telling me somebody is hacking into my computer. He wanted me to go to a website and follow what he says. What a scam artist.

Any calls you get from this number are fraud.  This is the main line for my company that I won which sells telecom services.  The people calling you are just spoofing our outbound caller ID and it is not us calling.  We keep getting calls from people saying they are getting calls from our number so I am changing my number right now.  So if anyone else gets calls from this caller ID please do not cooperate it is complete fraud!

Got a call from this number saying there was strange activity with our computer. Yeah Right and as soon as you ask where they are calling from they hang up!!! Wants you to go to your computer as well!

Had a call from this number and they said they were from Norton and that my pc was being hacked right now. I dont even have Norton.  I hung up and he called back again.  Do people not have jobs?

Got a call said some one was trying to hack into computer. Told him I would have my tech look at it, he said it may be to late and again told him that I would have my tech look at it and told him thanks for the heads up and hung up on him. These guys have nothing better to do than try this crap most people will catch on. May lighting strick his phone line JERK

Just received this call saying he was from Norton. I kept him on the phone for 15 minutes trying to get him to slip up. They wanted me to allow them to take control of my computer while I watched. It's like having a pickpocket watch him dance while he's stealing your wallet.

Just got a call from this number.  Said they had a report that I was having network trouble and would I go to the computer and follow instructions.  Yea right..... too bad we can't sh__t people through the phone.
