I started getting harrassing phone calls  last week. Yesterday they phoned at 7 am. Isn't that against the law to phone so early? I don't even owe anyone money. So I don't get why they are harrassing me? They phone at least 3 times a day. They never leave messages. I ignore the calls...but it pisses me off they won't stop calling.

Calls as early as 7am (which in western canada is legal); 4+ times a day. Tried to talk to them to negotiate, they refused and told me to get a lawyer. CBV Collection Services for HSBC who moved their loans department out of BC 2 years ago to Quebec.

They called and let the phone ring once then hung up and they didn't call back. So I came here and next I'll block their number. I don't have a credit card or the patience for them.

CBV collection has called me every day a few times a day for the last month and even called my mom, March 22/13 they called me 6 times within an hour and 45 min, then the 25 th they called me twice in 12 min and i spoke to both agents. They called me again the next day and when i told the lady to stop harassing me she very ignorantly tried to argue that calling me that many times is not harassment. Well since i am sickof it i contacted the Consumer Protection Agency and they are now working on my behalf to investigate CBV and get them to stop harassing me. Its worth the phone call just make sre you document the times and dates they call and if you can the agents name, with an automated answering system it will continue to call until it recieves a signal the someone picked up, but it still continues to call me even thought i answer the calls. Also send them a letter by registered mail so you have documentation telling them they are no longer allowed to contact you by phone and from that point foreward all communication has to be done in writting. Bylaw they are no longer allowed to contact you or your family by phone, if they continue then thats one more piece of documentation you have to prove harassment. best o luck!

I have been getting calls from this number.  Don't answer - and they leave no message.  I recently got a recycled cell phone number and got lots of calls that were for the person who had the number prior to me.  Even put on my voice mail that this number didn't belong to him anymore.  All but this number have apologized and stopped calling.  Glad I found this site.  Will now start recording times they call and report them.

Make sure you all take the time to read the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. It is the main way you can start learning what your rights are and how often the collection agencies are within breach of that Act. Since they are corporate entities they are fully susceptible to the Acts regulations. Use it to your advantage, and learn how to place commercial liens against these companies. Most of you never had a signed contract for the debts you allegedly owe. And usually even if they was a contract the "Four Essential Elements of a Contract" were probably not present.

http://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au/four-essential-elements-of-a-contract/

So after reading this, make sure there was a contract in the first place or these corporations have no standing with which to take you to court or even try to collect. They try to work under the "color of law" with their claims, but they are considered to be third-party interlopers if you declare them as such, as they were never entitled to your information in the first place. Some will say its in the contract but you need them to show "Proof of Claim" in order to prove there was a contract and that they are entitled to that information. As well, you should never speak to them on the phone, only through mailed correspondence and requesting at all times that whoever should send you correspondence must place their named signature in wet ink upon the pages (never accept printed), as this denotes an individual of the corporation claiming liability should they present to you fraudulently. Accept nothing else from them, and remember, they also work off the "silence is permission" rule. If you don't contest it, it must be truth. The commercial courts work this way at all times. So respond with counter claims at all times, and place your demands of proof and liability at all times. Remind them in your counter claims or offers that you will be "perfecting a commercial lien" claim against them should they proceed with their frivolous endeavours, wasting your time. Learn to create a fee schedule, and put it in place. And learn to record information publicly at all times but never to register anything. Unfortunate this is not an overnight process and nothing anyone can teach in a few minutes, but it should become your lifelong process to fight the corporate structure and so this should demand much of your time in learning.

So annoying! Several calls (that I ignore) on my mobile for MONTHS now. I Googled the number and came across this site, glad I'm not the only one. I don't know why they keep calling, geez, I'm only a high school student! And wow, is someone playing tricks on me? They managed to call again as I'm typing this. (I picked up for the first time and said nothing, I think I heard a 'hello' but otherwise they were silent too and lol THEY hung up on ME.) THESE PEOPLE NEED TO STOP.

I did not have call display but I was getting harrassed by a caller, I spoke with my cell provider so I signed up for call display briefly to see who was calling me as they would never leave a voicemail.   I have filed a complaint as the number is calling me as early as 7AM and they are calling every 1-6 minutes.  I am thinking I will pay to have the number blocked, but they will just use another number.  I am recording the amount of times they call. I have never answered and NEVER will.  I have made arrangements with my Bank a while ago and have been making them correctly with the bank.

They have called me several times, starting at 7am. I have told them that I will file a harassment suit against them if they continue to call, to which they respond with "fine".

I hate to see how many people are going through this with them, but it has validated my thoughts on them being scammers. They are calling me about a matter that was solved a while ago, but that doesn'ty matter to them. I had a different collection agency call me about this same matter last year. When I talked to the woman, I explained to her how it had already been settled a while earlier. She found out I was right, and closed the file. Now these fraudsters are calling me about it.

I am so tired of getting 8-10 calls from them a day. They don't leave a message and I don't answer the calls.Their multiple calls a day are very harassing.I have dealt with the bank so I know it is not them.If they are really that important they should leave a message. They don't need to call several times a day.One call with a simple message identifying what they want is all it takes.

They do not stop calling my home.  And when no one is home  for hours my phone will continue beeping until you disconnect.
They call at least 10 times a day.  This is ridiculous. I am tired of this.  They have gone so far to say they will contact my employer I laughed and said good luck with that Im unemployed.  Not collecting anything.  The government needs to step in stop this.

Beware that they are also now using the calgary area phone number of 403-254-2398, after they try calling with the 647-788-4090 number.  You can always tell when the 15th or end of the month is coming up - that is when they are paid, and all collectors are trying to add to their paycheques with the commission YOU "pay" them with.

You can tell from their own bio above they are trying to make themselves sound "important" by calling themselves THE credit bureau.  They can do no more to you than any other collection agency.  At least they are monitoring this site - go ahead and tell them what you think of them - they like the amusement.  I agree, get call display and ignore them..They have called here 3 times in the last 10 minutes.  RECORD the # of times they call, excessive is called harrassment.  You have rights, one of which is that in most provinces they cannot take you to court (sue you) after the debt is two years old, or 2 years past when you last acknowledged the debt, even if you as much as paid a penny that is considered an acknowledgement.  So is arrangements.  Do absolutely NOTHING until you have legitimate Court documents delivered to your door.  It seems collection agencies are hiring "process servers" to get around their limitations, so verify it is in fact an actual court document, and not a collection agency playing with you. Note that they will still try to collect from you after the 2 years despite not being able to take you to court.  This is where your creditor gave them their bad debt accounts to work on.  If your account is with a collection agency, that is going to be reported to 7 years - you do not get a break by paying it off - it has still wrecked your credit rating.

That is why you get call display, use this website service, and don't answer them in the first place. You will gain nothing by picking up the phone, just confirming to them they have another sucker on the line.

This is the worst collection agency around. Agent called me a criminal and a thief, I informed him I was filing bankruptcy and he said quote" "we won't accept that" Very arrogant, towards me, didn't care that I was on EI which is soon expiring. He said nothing is more important than they are, that somehow I was living like a King on $250/wk from EI (Rent is $800). Called Tuesday, demanded $1400 in full before Friday.

Got calls from that number for a former roommate. Machine, "This is not a solicitation, we have an important business message for *********, press one. I pressed one, and the phone system disconnected the call almost everytime it calls. I told them that he moved out a year ago, and they keep calling.
