Received an automated phone call from this number saying my bank card has been used and is being cancelled. Then phone was disconnected.

Phone rang at 2:40 am. Being only 1/2 awake when I answered I couldn't understand who the caller said he was, but I did hear clearly that my account may have been compromised and that I should press 1 to reactivate my account, then it asked me to enter my account number! HUH? How dumb do they think we are. I also looked them up on the web and could find nothing legitimate, and I called and, just like others, I reached Carmel Partners.

Same story as above. Sept. 9, 2009 at 3:03 am EST received an automated call from what I could understand was "Fauquier Bank". which is a near by county, but not the name of my bank or any bank in the area. it recorded on my machine and says "Hello this is a message from the Fauquier Bank (and you could tell it was inputed, because it had a pause and wasn't pronounced correctly) Your card has been suspended, because we believe it was accessed by a third party. Please press 1 now to be transfered to our security department "
Once you press "1" it says please enter your card number to reactivate. I pushed # and 0 and it keeps going over and over.
First: my bank is not that name.
Second: they would never call me at 3am
Third: they would never ask me to enter my card number
Fourth: you would not get such a cheaply automated voice delivering the message
Fifth: they leave a message when your card has truely been accessed saying please call us!
If you don't they send a letter in the mail and you notice your card not working the next day.
Last but not least! The bank would never reactivate a possible stolen card! They will always reissue a new one!
You guys are amatures and dumb a***s! I will make it my objective from this moment forward to catch your a***s and make sure you do jail time!
The number on the caller ID says California 650-952-2900
If you call it back you get a mans voice saying you've reached Carmel Partners Accounting Department
You can push 1 for a company directory or leave a message in a general mailbox. It sounds amature and a cell phone voicemail message.

Calls from 650-952-2900 claiming that your credit card has been used appear to be part of a large scam where thieves try to get your card number for fraud.

They are "Carmel Partners".
