I get this call probably 3 times a day. Every time I answer there is always silence. Today someone actually was on the other line. COuldn't believe it.  They said I owed them 47 bucks because they kept delivering the paper. Hell, I paid for 13 weeks and that's it. If they want to keep delivering it, I'm not footing that bill.  I told them to take me off their list and I got somewhat aggressive with the lady. We'll see if it happens. :)

But after this I will NEVER subscribe to the paper again. I can't believe how these people treat their customers. I'm in sales and I'd never do this.  Mind boggling to me. No wonder the newspaper industry is going down like the Titanic.

This has been happening to me as well, always interrupting my meetings at work.  The 651 number calls as well as a 623 area code.  I would either hear dead silence, a machine wanting me to buy crap, and finally this last time a person was on the other end when i answered in the middle of dinner.  Come to find out the nice lady informed me that SA Express Newpaper and any other company that relies on subscriptions out sources promotional calling to this company.  THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT STOP IS GET A REAL PERSON ON THE LINE AND ASK THEM TO TAKE YOU OFF THE PROMOTIONAL LIST. THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS TO A YEAR AND THEN A REQUEST WILL NEED TO BE MADE AGAIN.

Thanks much to Kai (above) for the info.  Deplorable that one has to "get a real person" on the line (and good luck in doing so) in order to stop these twice-to-thrice-daily calls, several of which have come after 9 p.m.  As ex- Ex-News subscribers, I think we'll try the "get us off this list or we won't even bother to buy your crummy paper on Sundays at the newsstand" line.  I encourage all others to do similar with their ex-newspapers as the papers  anonymously bug the hell out of us to get another chance at our pocketbooks.

The caller is "A Marketing Resource," located at 1185 N. Concord, Suite 300, South St. Paul, MN 55075.  Their inbound phone number is 651-255-5855 so you can harass them as they do everyone else.  Let's all make a pact to to call them repeatedly until they get sick of it, and let's just see how they feel!

The calls are from the Express News.  Customer Service Department at (210) 250-2000, (800) 456-7411.  I called to have my phone number removed from their call list.  Said it would take 24 hours.  Told them I have a pay as you go phone and wanted to bill them for the 18 cents a minute I pay for the call.  They said they have no procedure for that.  Asked for who is in charge.  Told their Marketing Director, Paul Kutzik is responsible and will have him give me a call.  His direct number is 210-250-2144.  If people want to stop these calls they should call Paul.

I am sick and tired of getting these calls. I paid my subscription for acertain amount of weeks...they threw papers beyond that point, that is not my problem...I DID NOT TELL THEM TO do that! then, I was sent a bill for $ 5 and some change...I didn't authorize or sign for anything further...I am not paying the bill because I didn't ask for the extra papers! I feel I am being harrassed!
i have a father that was just admitted in to the hosp with pnuemonia and a heart attack and I do not need this!

I have had the same problem and everyone I talk to just sends me in a circle and I'm fed up.  Paul Kutnik from the Express News paper is the person to contact.  His # is 210-250-2144.  I have called him twice now and the first time I called him he told me he would take care of it but he didn't.  The company's name is A Marketing Resource 1185 Concord St. N South Saint Paul, MN 55075.  Two other #'s for them r 651-256-6170 and 651-255-5855.  This company has to stop.

I have an unlisted number and I still recieve calls from this number and others like it.

The only way I've found to stop them is to use one of my providers options called "Call Rejection".

It allows you to enter any phone number and it will block the call.

I have mine in a feature package, so I don't know what the cost for just that service would be, but having used it, I would never be without it.

I started getting calls yesterday from 651-288-2862 put it in google and came here... I got three calls yesterday @ 8:41 AM, 5:40 PM, & 7:43 PM... then again this morning @ 8:54 AM... I didn't answer any of them cause I have a tendency to not answer phone #'s I don't know... no voicemail was left...
I haven't even had a newspaper subscription in over 2 years... why are they just now calling? Next time they call I'm going to answer and tell them to take me off of their stupid list... has that worked for anyone else?

We just moved to San Antonio and have never had an express news subscription but have been receiving these calls on a daily basis. I refuse to answer and they never leave a message. We're on the Do Not Call list so this really perturbs me >:(

They call us at least once a day, every day. Usually we ignore the call (and they never leave a message), but several times we have answered. The first time, we told them we weren't interested. They continued calling. The second time, we told them we can't afford a newspaper subscription (thinking that if they realized there was no money to be made, they would give up). They spent a few minutes trying to sell us less expensive weekend-only subscriptions, deferred-payment subscriptions, etc. And when I say "trying to sell," I mean "telling us -- not asking, but telling -- that they were going to sign us up for these subscriptions, and they had to be told no multiple times before they finally stopped." Of course, they continued calling. This has gone on for months if not a year now. Today, they called FIVE TIMES in LESS THAN AN HOUR. On the fifth call, we picked up and told them we were not interested. Ten minutes later... that's right, they called AGAIN. I did not answer that time, mostly because I was too busy being shocked and appalled by their audacity. But the next time they call, I will answer and tell them to put us on their "Do Not Call List," that we do not want to be called again, EVER. And I might mention that we will never even consider resubscribing to the SA Express News thanks to their calling service's actions, but sadly, I'm not sure any of those things will stop the barrage of phone calls. I'm extremely patient when it comes to ignoring unwanted solicitation calls, but this has gotten absolutely ridiculous.

Ironically, I had actually been considering getting a Sunday subscription recently, for the coupons. Had none of these phone calls happened, I might have purchased the subscription on my own. Now, not only will I not subscribe, I will not even purchase single copies at the newsstand. I'll get my coupons from sources that don't feel the need to disturb my home six times in an hour.

We had the same thing happen.  Signed up for ONLY 4 weeks and they tossed the paper several weeks beyond that.  We told SA News we refused to pay for their error.  The phone calls have started about 4 weeks ago.  They call at least 6 times per day.  Time to see if TWC offers call blocking.

I also received several calls from this number with no voicemail so when I finally answer they ask for me by my nickname. She was persistent on asking for my bank info I told her I didn't have any credit cards n she ask for my bank info. I hung up n haven't answered since then. I just don't trust anyone now in days n would never give my bank info over the phone to anyone.
