We got a call like this today as well. It was from 510-545-8941. He said his name was Mathew Williams and told my husband to call him right away and if he did not the only thing left he could do was to wish him luck as the situation fell on him. He had a very thick Indian accent as well. He told him to fax him a copy of his drivers license, a credit card number with the security code and the expiration month and year and a letter promising to pay or he would go to court to settle it. He also told him if he did not pay $350 he would go to jail and be taken to court. The guy told my husband his name and social security number had been reported as internet crimes. He told my husband he was an police officer with the IC3. He have reported his card as lost. But I don't know what else we should do. Can someone please give us more advice.

I just received a call on my cell phone for my husband from this number. The man left a voice message saying his name is Austin White (he had a VERY THICK Indian accent for his VERY AMERICAN name.) He said in the message that my husband needed to contact him the moment he got the message or have his attorney contact him. Then before he hung up he said "I wish you the best of luck in your current situation."

Will someone please tell me what we need to do about this? I tried to call the number back right away and they wouldn't even talk to me just said that he needed to call ASAP, then I googled it and have read all the reviews. This is the first time that he has been contacted (as far as I know), so do I need to wait till he calls again to report it? Who do I report it to?

I've had numerous calls from these guys.  Here's what I've discovered.  These calls are all made through prepaid cell phones.  These guys, maybe 3-5 different guys, all with indian accents, some more than others.  All with names like John Smith, James Wilson, Steel Matthews, John Taylor......and so on.  They claim to that we have taken out loans "non-existing" of course, and have defaulted and if we didn't want to go to jail, then they are willing to settle for $300.  We need to send them a copy of our DL, our SSN, a copy of our credit card, front and back and a letter saying we are willing to settle by paying them XXX amount of dollars.  These guys are scam artist, and will try every which way to defraud you.  I had to file a police report last night, because i finally had it.  They're starting to call my employment, and that's where i draw the line.  The officer also told me to log on to the FBI website and file a fraud case, which i did.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!! THEY ARE SCUMBAGS, CROOKS and they are relentless.  They even made the 11:00 news in my city.  FBI is currently trying to track these guys down.  Note:  they won't give you an address where they are. I wonder why????

Just got the call myself this morning from both John and Matt, who last week were from the American attorney's offices & before that the sherrifs department.  BEWARE.  I am freaking out because these scam artist have my personal info.  My SSN included.  WHAT should I do.  They are a team of 2 & they are indian accent sounding.  Don't give them any info.  Just call an attorney.  I already reported my identity stolen & reported it to my credit report.  I'm thinking of calling & filing a formal police report today.  Probably why these too duche's he changing their name, number & agency info.  But, heres the thing, the line is crackling and echos sometimes, clealy unsecured, it's always Peter Smith, John Taylor, Matthew Williams, VERY white names that sound made up.  and the agency is always different and the first caller has to transfer you to his supervisor first after identifying you.  I believe they start recording at this point because connection gets all weird & its hard to hear. It's a scam, beware, don't tell them much & hang up as soon as possible.

The funny thing is that such a company does exist but i'm not sure if they're legit either http://www.ic3.gov/contact/default.aspx

I have recieved numerous calls from this number from several people, they keep telling me they are taking me to court which I was kinda like ... what?

After speaking with the FBI, attorney general of Missouri, and local law enforcement, there is NOTHING they can do ...

Get another call and I get if you don't pay us we will go after your family, I blew up... Anyone that steps foot on my property that claims to be with this company will be shot on site.

The law that claims to be on my side cannot do anything because it is a IP routed call from outside the US, if that is the case then how the hell did they get my number and records to begin with, and if they are starting to threaten my family and my well being how is there not a law to cover this?

Received a call at my parents house from these guys. They said I am supposed to meet him in court in two days. Very much a scam because if I am correct, you have to be served, and I was never served with anything. The guy said his name is David Thompson.

The man who calls from this number sounds Indian and claims his name is Tim. He even called my work. Thank goodness I have a secretary who knows he should not be calling. Tim claims to be from the IC3, but I looked up the IC3 Website, and they do not do any actual investigating! If you receive a call from this number, threaten to sue them for harrassment! Do not give out any personal information!!

Funny, your name is the same John Taylor that called my husband, told him he was a woman cause he didn't "sound like a man", ironically, The chinese guy that called "Didn't sound like a John Taylor".

If a caller does not identify the name of a company and requires the person they are calling for bank or social security numbers, it is federal offense. I have called for my phone records. The 12 calls to my husband will be sent to my lawyer as well as the federal govt. He picked the wrong wife to screw with. It is a good thing we use "the bank of pillow", they can not find any accounts attached to us.
