I keep getting calls from this number as well (678-791-4199).  About 3 times a day.  I have not bothered to call back since it is not someone that I know and when I listened to the recorded message I never applied for a job within the last week as they claimed I had so I got suspicious and found this website.  Thanks guys for posting your thoughts as it saved me from making any mistakes.  I am glad that I am a cautious person because horrible people take advantage of anyone when they are down.  No one should reply to this company ever.

Good luck to all of you who are still seeking jobs.  I found a great job as a real estate investor trainee so if anyone else is in south florida and wants to do real estate email me at sdowst13@gmail.com and I'll help you out just like my mentors are helping me.  :-)

I got a call from this 678-791-4199 and I answered it.  The lady stated that she got my number (my cell number) from a resume that I submitted.  I don't put my cell phone number on jobs that I apply for.

She told me it was in response to a reception job that I inquired about.  I told her I never applied for one and she spouted off this long random number as my "job reference number"  She said she needed more information from me.  I played along saying I forgot about applying for that job.  I played a trick and said "did I apply for the senior position or the junior position"  She said that I applied for the junior position.  I told her I never applied for this job, I am on the do not call list, and I would be reporting her.  She said she was going to check her files.  I started to hear typing and then she hung up on me.

I think this is a phone scam and they are trying to get more personal information from people.  Please DONT GIVE IT OUT!!!

Called them twice. They were looking to verify information about a job that I applied for recently. Said that they were tring to verify information for the hiring company. The job title was accurate but they would not tell me how they found out that I had applied for said position. They already had my phone numbers and address. How are they getting this information? Definitely sounded like a call center operation in the background. Hope I haven't been scammed.

You might be behind these calls, Gabrielle. 678-791-4199 is a scam. Some idiots trying to taking advantage of unemployed people. PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER ANY OF THEIR QUESTIONS.

I also received the call from this number 678-791-4199. While the 2-3min I was on hold I looked up "Career Network" and went to contact info. It says...

"Note that Career-Network is not able to reply to job seekers about application status. Job Seekers must wait to be contacted directly by the employer. Career-Network allows employers to post confidentially and cannot provide Job Seekers any more information regarding the employer than is already on the application."

There for, the company Career Network is a real company. If you get a call from someone saying there from that company or any other like it, IT IS A SCAM!! And ILLEGAL!

Sorry, Im just as disappointed as anyone to have hope for a honest, legitimate call for a job,,

So how do they get your info? Well, don't worry they don't have your password to your e-mail, computer or lap top.. as long as you didn't give it out I HOPE. Well there many ways, from one service selling or trading your "Confidential" info. To the surveys that you think you have to do during a legitimate application or you wont get the job. Don't ever fill them out! Also,to all the people who didn't even fill one out. It may have been your friends filling them out and using you as a reference and BAM! Now its legal for them to call you even if your on a don't call list.

Good luck everyone I hope this helps!

After doing a few simple investigations and screening of this company called Career Network, this company is legitimate. There was no hassles and they only received the information from when YOU apply for a job online. Yes, they have the information you submitted either through Career Builder or Monster.com, and it is easy to verify by having them verify your address..not you giving them information. This is not a scam or phishing outlet, but a pre-screening service for potential employment positions YOU apply for. Check with Career Builder or Monster or where ever you have your job seeking posts located at.

Career Network is a real company. They have hundreds of job boards they manage. They actually DO call to verify your info for employment, however, their main purpose is to try and get you to further your education. By doing so, they make money. I know this because I went to work for them for a short period of time, but was unable to as my internet service does not support their online dialer.

Received a voice mail message from Career Network. At first I didn't think anyone left a message, but then Jessica (Automated Voice) stated I've applied for a job last week. I DIDN'T APPLY FOR ANY JOB LAST WEEK!
I've been a victim of identity theft before and I'm not going to help anyone do it to me again. I think this is a total SCAM. You may want to check with the identity theft resource center dot org about this one.

This company is a scam. Look up three star media, career-network, skilled job seekers, desirable candidates, job change staffing, candidate scout, etc. They sell your information to other companies, they get paid per lead.
The jobs they post all over yahoo/craigslist/whatever other site you signed up on are all fraudulent.
Simply copy and paste part of description into google and look at the results. If they are looking for 32 unskilled laborers in the Atlanta area, you will see the exact same job description in Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and virtually every city in the US.
I suggest you contact the FTC and turn them in, the owner has already been busted in the past for the same type of stuff. No matter what you do DO NOT give them any information, they sell it to advertisers.

Called this number and it is a company called Career Network inquiring about an application/job opening for a receptionist position that I posted on the internet. The woman told me the job was within a 20 mile radius of my area and after a few brief questions verified all contact info with me and told me that I would possibly be contacted in the near future - sounds somewhat fishy to me -

I spoke to a young lady about my info about a job. She told me that I applied for a job but wouldn't give any details about it, saying that she has no info.  She asked me about where I worked etc., all the info that would have been on my resume.  She asked me about furthering my education and asked several questions about the subject. She pressed very hard on the education topic.

I was very skeptical, so I wanted to investigate on my own.  I called back and talked to a male and he asked me the same questions.  Then he asked me if I had done this before because he saw my name in the database.  Then he asked about my employer again and I asked if my info is in the computer, why isn't that in there either?  He said sometimes the computer "acts weird" and deletes stuff.

Another strange thing is that they said that I needed internet acess for the call and I asked about this.  He said "I don't know why it says that."

I asked for the agent's name and it is Jason Perris, possibly Perrish.

I think they are a telemarketing company looking to find people for schools and get as much information as possible.

Please look into this.

I received a call from this number today.  It was regarding an online application that I sent at the beginning of August and she asked me a few questions after verifying my phone number.  It lasted about 10 minutes.  She kept asking me if I was interested in going back to school.  If I was interested in going back if I got financial aid.  She said that I did qualify for the job, and was sending the information back to the prospective employer and any correspondence from now on would be from the employer.

I remember the online ap.  That was something I never have had to do before, but it never took me this long to get a job (after a layoff). I thought it was weird that I had to answer a school survey after I sent in my application, but I'm desperate for a job so I complied.   Here's keeping my fingers crossed that the "real" employer will call me!

I have gotten four calls from this number in the past few days and a message has been left each time saying it was regarding an application I had submitted within the week. I haven't applied for any jobs for over a month because I found a job. I haven't answered any of these calls and don't plan to.

The number 678-791-4199 is from Career Network. They also have another line 646-360-1659. I DID apply for a job online and they called to pre-screen me before submitting my application to the employer. So my thoughts are this company and phone number is legit.- Blessings to all who read this.

I, too, received a call from this number, but the young man left a message for me to return the call.  When I did, the same thing...after I gave him my number, he then went on to verify my information.  I have been applying for jobs for about a month or more now.  He, too, asked me about schooling - gave me another number to call of which I did.  It was a school recruiting service.  I was then put in touch with a young man from Kaplan University - went over quite a bit of stuff and I hope to go there. Then, today I got an email from the "unknown" employer offering me a position as a financial agent.  I told her I was interested and was sent another email with details of the job description and it seems legit.  I think I will check with Law Enforcement to be sure as it does require handling money.  Seems on teh up and up, but I'd be more apt to believe it is NOT as good as it seems.  The website is believable, but you never know...need to check on it.

I feel the same way, as I am in the same position as you. I also got a call on my cell (which I NEVER give out) and I'll be deleting the message before listening to it! I'm glad I found this site! I feel so much more secure. I have already been scammed twice this year. I was lucky though, and all worked out well.

I just got off the phone with them. The woman that picked up after a minute or two of wait time seemed nice. she did verify my information, I didn't give it to her. she had it all, so I figured she did obtain it through a job posting I applied to(she verified my email I created specifically for this job search, my address, name and phone number. she was kinda pushing when she found out I didn't finish a degree program. She wants me to immediately call a number she gave me to another free service about going back to school. She said she set it up as an appointment and that she'll call back in about an hour to make sure things went "smoothly" with them(it reminded me of those stupid ads you see on the careerbuilders and monsters out there as you apply for a post online). This was suggested after she submitted my information for further review to the "confidential company" that is their client. She told me any further communication about the position would be directly from the hiring company where they would disclose their identity and the exactly what they're looking for. This is not my preferred way to be contacted about a job, but I'm not able to tell how what we've done so far would lead to identity theft.

I held online when they called me, it must have been over 5 minutes, I thought it was real as I am actively looking for a new job, when finally a man came on the line he asked for my phone number for "verification purposes", I replied you called me, and the line went dead, I think it must be some kind of horrible scam.

Who could you hurt more? I have been out of work for a year and a half and really think this is a horrid thing to do to someone.

They called me once (getting my voice mail but not leaving a message), and then two days later when they called again I answered.  She said she needed to verify information about an application I submitted on the 17th (not stating a month) and she said it could take up to 45 min. to complete.  I told her I'd call back.  I called back the next day and asked questions about their (confidential) clients and she couldn't give me any information.  I was weary, and not going to give any more information of course.  I told them to remove my number from their list.
