Received call at 9:08 am this morning on my cell phone. As usual, these tele-spammers / tele-scammers did not leave any message.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

This particular call hung up like most of them. I listed this as a prank call because we don't have a choice for "telescammer" or "scam call".

This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!.  It doesn?t do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  And never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robo callers will then capture your number as a ?live one? and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

I have been getting calls from this number for a long time, interrupting my work and privacy.  I do not want to do anything with them, as I told them before, however, they do not stop calling me. Is there a way to stop them calling me?

when i called back it said "please press any digit to be removed - this may take up to 24-48 hours." I pressed 1 and the phone hung up! hope this helps.

Received a call from INS Benefits 701-204-7114.  I stayed on the line for a representative and when Christine answered I asked where she was located and she said Illinois.  When I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told I had her.  When I advised Christine I was making note of the call, and calling from an attorney's office and again demanded to speak with a supervisor she disconnected the call.  I called back and reached a recorded message with instructions to press any number in order to be removed from their call list.  I am already on the DNC.

This number showed up in my missed call list and didn't leave a message.

I just did a research on phone number 701-204-7114 and found list of unwanted phone numbers. I do not answer the phone that I do  not know. This happen to me again except from another state Oregon. I did not answer the phone that I do not know and I do not know the name of company that called me

This number is why I downloaded Mr number. It was the only way even tho I'm on dnc list they kept calling.

Thank you "drenagreco" for your input. We too, have been keeping a list of these annoying phone numbers in our Quick Books database. Unfortunately, QB fails to search for these numbers under "Vendors File"  following an automatic update that crippled many features used in this office. That feature, "automatic Update" has been turned off to prevent other QB 2008 features from working properly.

This is one of the same groups of scammers that pretend to be from All State 1 minute, or telling you you have won a cruise, or that your auto insurance expired, etc. and then pretend to be something else the next time they call.

They hide behind phony phone numbers they can spoof or fake on your caller id, do not accept incoming calls and the bottom line is not to waste your time answering calls from anyone number you do not recognize.

The world is full of lying scammers.  The DNC doesn't help.  Not enough.

Hopefully the FBI investigates the worst of these and can see through their hiding behind phony numbers and the rest.

These scammers may be clever but they aren't the smartest people on the planet that no one can catch.

I bought a device from Amazon that physically blocks up to 1,500 numbers.  It's starting to get filled up...

They called my number then hung up, no talking?  NEVER CALLED THIS NUMBER AS FAR AS I KNOW?

I think this is the same scammers who call all of the time and change what they say, IF they say anything at all.  They change phone numbers all of the time I think because they use IP or VOIP phones and computers to show phony caller ID info to us all.

Don't answer calls from numbers you don't know.

It is probably a crook on the other end who will either try to steal from you or steal your identity.

It is sad reading about other numbers that call us that people actually think a carpet cleaning company in San Francisco will call you in Kentucky to clean your rugs.

These weird calls are mostly scams people.  

My husband and me think these criminal types should all be in jail.

I got a call from 701-204-7114, no answer on the other end.  I called the number back and instanly got recording that said: " to be removed from this list please press any digit.  This may take 24 to 48 hours".

Get phone calls from this number everyday at night and in the morning.  Never leaves a message. When I answered it this morning, person hung up. I think these are telemarketers or bill collectors who call to verify that the phone number is legitimate, then they will pass on your information to other companies who will call.
