Computer said I had an important message from American Express and that I was supposed to "hold on the line". When human caller answered (after the message played twice)he said he was calling from American Express. I asked for Randy - caller (American Express?) was confused, I again asked for Randy, and added I was told to call him at this number. Caller was extreemly confused (started stumbling on his words), caller started to explain what he was doing by calling me and that if I had called the number I must have gotten a wrong number, and that I was talking to American Express... then the caller must have figgured out what was going on as he abruptly ended the call.

I laughed and laughed.

Male caller attempted to get my bank information so that a payment could be applied to my AMEX card account.  I found it strange given that my caller ID stated the call was from a "Carolyn Hunter" in the Las Vegas area (based on area code).  When I stated that my payment is automatically taken from my account, by AMEX, he said he couldn't access that information.  I then challenged him to confirm his identity by telling me what AMEX account info he had in front of him, he couldn't give me any.  Obviously, he got nothing from me and I've reported the call to AMEX and local law enforcement.

Didn't answer called a 7am eastern if it was Amex from vegas that would make it 3am. call centers don't work at 3am. but just wanted all to know that mine came up as a CELLULAR CALL. Not late on any cards. Hope they call back cause I love to have some fun with them. you should all make it a habit that even if you get a call from a legit company you should always call the number on the back of your card or on you billing statment. AWAYS. Phishing  doesn't just happen online anymore. And if you get scammed it willtake a long time to correct. causing you lot's of HARDSHIP. Be Afraid Very Afraid when anyone wants any INFO ON YOU. GOOD LUCK

They say they are from AMEX, and as a coincidence I missed my payment two days ago (sent it yesterday) So i thought it might be a legit deal...until I realized that they were calling my husbands cell phone, his WORK cell phone! My AMEX acct is strictly my own and there is no way AMEX would know my husbands private work cell number. IT IS A PHISHING SCAM!!!!! anybody who says otherwise is probably in the same coincidence boat as I am -let's face it, these criminals are smart and they know lot's of people have an AMEX acct and in this economy lot's of us are behind....the odds are in their favor which is why they set up this scam! think people!! think!!
Pay you AMEX acct on the phone only when YOU DIAL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER!!!! DON"T TRUST ANYBODY WHO CALLS YOU!!!! PLEASE FOLKS! PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THOSE THAT WANT YOUR MONEY!

Called at 8:30 am, 12:00 and again at 6:17 in one day.
They ask for me to give my AE # and then tell me to call another number.  I called AE and they did not have me down for any to be called or red flags.  I added this number to the do not call reg for my phone number. And I entered that number in my phone as spam so when it does come up for a while, It will show as thus. They dont even leave a message.

Male, claiming to be from American Express, wanted me to give him my bank information to make a payment on my card.  I found it strange that the caller ID stated the call was from a "Carolyn Hunter" with a Las Vegas area code.  When I stated that I have my payments made directly from my bank to AMEX through their corporate website, he said he "didn't have access to that information".  When I asked him to confirm who he was, he couldn't give me any of my actual AMEX account info.  Obviously, give them nothing if you get a call from this number.  I have reported it to AMEX as well as local law enforcement.

I got the call too - three times, once with a message, caller ID Carylon Hunter.  I have an AMEX and am a few weeks late, but not yet "officially" late.  I suspect also that it is a scam because it is ILLEGAL for a legit debt collector to call with a false caller ID.  If it is AMEX, the caller ID needs to say AMEX, not C Hunter, Private, Unknown, etc.  Thanks for all who have posted - good info to have!!

I think this is actually American Express because I missed my payment and they are calling to get me to send it in. I didn't answer the phone because I wasn't home but I sent the payment and doubt they will call again once it has been received and processed.
