The safest thing to do with an unknown number is not to answer. If it is someone you really need to speak with, they will leave you a message and identify themselves to you. If you don't recognize them, or it's unclear what they want - leave it be and don't call back. The really irrating thing is if they are calling your cell phone, you are paying for those minutes they are using up every time they call and leave any sort of message. TIP: You can also BLOCK the number - I did!

These would be incoming international calls.  CallerID works by sending  the 'number'  THEN the "ID" is matched with records in a two step process.
So the caller is using different numbers in a foreign country and it matches different local names in the US each time when the ?callerID name? shows up on your system.
Same old lie, that they are ? Data compiler for Google search directory?.  They are using new technology to interrupt and waste your day.
The telemarketer is using technology and lies to harass, interrupt and annoy busy hardworking business owners.  Please don't fall for their tactics.  Please don't reward and encourage them by doing business with them. Don't put you and your business in danger by giving them info.

I got a call from this number but did not answer cuz I was at work. I normally don't answer calls that I don't know. Wish I could get off thier calling list!!

Message in Spanish saying I just won blah blah blah...it's all robotic.
DON'T PRESS ANY NUMBERS TO SPEAK TO A LIVE PERSON. All you're doing is confirming your number exists. When that happens, they sell your number to hundreds of telemarketing companies for $5.00 each. They make money every time you speak to a live person.
Every time I get a call from a telemarketer, I just add this to my contact list as "Telemarketer" so I'll know when they're calling. Answer and hang up immediately. Their system sees it as an invalid number and they delete your number right away.

hi guys i got the call today and look the number online before answer so since i read all in here ....i answered... and they said i was a winner for a 100 dollars in spanish! i m glad i understand ...so i just hang up later...and i will not answer again!! same thing happen with credit union i got many calls from a 800...number when i do not even hav kind of service or anything with a that words so i will keep not answering!

I called the number back and the message instantly says "thanks for returning our call. If you do not want us to call you, press 1."  Ans so I did. I just hope I didn't give them further incentive to call me back!

Same as everyone else.  And as to how they're "allowed to do business", they aren't, they're a pure scam, but until the phone companies start providing real trace information and law enforcement starts caring, what's gonna happen?

These people called me, saying they would lower the interest rates on my credit card (a lie, never had a credit card, had this phone number for 3 years). I pressed the button to talk to a person, when the woman came on, I said "Hi, you just called me and I want you take me off your list"

And she said

"Yeah, that's not gonna happen" and HUNG UP ON ME.
Are you kidding me? How are people like this allowed to do business?

Robocall offering help with "your mortgage problems and foreclosure."  Really?  What mortgage problem?  You know something I don't?  

I called back to remove the number from their "special offers" list.  We'll see if that works.

Work at a law firm. I answer the phones and wright down the phone numbers of recorded messages we get. The message lately has been a female voice saying,"THIS IS GOOGLE DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE DATA COMPILER AND WE NEED TO UPDATE YOUR LOCAL DIRECTORY LISTING." Then there is a request to push 1 to talk to someone, 2 to be taken off the list. COMPLETE SCAM!!! Whenever I get one of these calls, I ALWAYS get a call later in the day from someone out-of-state wanting to talk to the person responsible for the company telephone account or our gas bill. Last time I told the girl to take us off her call list and she called me back 6 times in a row, and called me a Little B***h. I don't think they know we are a law firm...

I just got a call from this number on my cell phone, I didn't pick it up and searched it online right away to find out what it was and from what i have read i am glad i didn't waist my time answering it. I hope no one falls for that crap. there was no voice mail, I just called the anti-telemarketing phone number and all those lame calls will completely be stopped within 30 days, so if you want to get rid of these ridiculous callers, the national anti-telemarketing number is: 1-888-382-1222

They call me pretty regularly. It's always early in the morning-like around 7:00am. I've never gotten to the phone before it stopped ringing. They call me about once a month.

they called and offered me better interest rates on my credit cards. they said they were card services. but yet they called me by my maiden name (which i do not use anymore) they also asked for my social security#, billing zip code, and credit card number. when i asked them how do i find out if they were legitimate the girl became hesitant to answer the same punch line and hung up on me.

No-life butt-hole shysters. Good lord, who actually does business with creeps like this?
