I can't believe I'm reading these emails! He did the EXACT same thing to me!! He would only text and referred to himself as Alphonso. He also sent me fake PayPal links indicating that he transferred money to my account and he didn't. He asked to only ship the package OVERNIGHT UPS ONLY AND SEND ME THE TRACKING NUMBER ASAP! He provides a random address and follows the package so he can grab it upon delivery. I actually had a funny feeling afterwards and called PayPal and they verified that the PayPal emails being sent to me were fakes. I was able to have my package intercepted and I called the post office in the city he asked to send it to (San Diego), and I also reported him to the Postal investigators. I will also be reporting him to the FBI.

He's been busy...called me about the same thing, buying a ring for his fiancée. Only he stated he was from California. Wanted me to give him my email contact for PayPal purchase.

Scam. I received a name, address, phone number, and two email addressed. This person was stupid and determined. I was selling an expensive ring on craigslist. Wish they's get caught!

We had a beautiful ring for sale on craigslist and i got a text and tried to call them however its a text only phone according to the automated service. So we texted them back and he said his name was Alfonso and that he was a contract worker from Clarke County and was working out of the states and wouldnt be able to call until he got back. We contacted Paypal whom stated that he is a scammer and that they will monitor our account information to make sure he does not get it. I texted the number back telling him he is scum for doing this and all he said was get lost. Please do not send your information to him and if you do make sure you contact paypal and change your password and email for them.

Also received a message about an ad I posted on craigslist. Will be turning this information over to the FBI for further investigation.

The scammer offers an eBay / Craigslist / other auction site seller a wonderful deal. The scammer will use "PayPal" to send the money, so the deal will "be protected by PayPal". Here are some of the variations on the scam:

*    The scammer picks up the item or has it delivered to a place that has no snailmail tracking. Since there is no online-visible proof of delivery, the scammer successfuly files and wins an Item Not Received case with PayPal, and gets both the money and the item.

*    The scammer sends the seller a PHONY link to PayPal. The phony link states the item was paid, but the seller has to send some money or the Tracking Number "to release the funds". The scammer gets both the money and the seller's PayPal login information!

How do you know that? Did paypal say someone was trying to get into your account?
