Actually $1 of that $15 went to charity the other $14 dollars was pocketed. Official studies have been done and only 1 percent is the average seen by the charity. I don't donate to any of them anymore. If I knew 100 percent of what I donate actually went to the actual study I would give it to them. Otherwise they are on their own. Sorry but I a old enough to know when I am being ripped off and I stand fast with the old policy of "charity begins at home".

I have never received any phone calls from legitimate telemarketers since I registered every phone number we have. The only ones that call are the rip-off scam artists. That is why they never get to speak to any of us at our phone numbers. We let the phone ring and if they what to speak to us they can leave a message. Then if we want to contact them in return we will. It hasn't happened yet. None of them leave a message. I have reported many of them to the DNC registry but the DNC does not act on individual complaints. Read the info provided when you file a claim. It clearly tells you they don't act on the complaint other than to add it to the National Data Base set up for the complaints. Law enforcement and legal groups use the data base for research and collection of complaints pertinent to cases they are working on. So what we do now is after the first call, we put the phone number into our blocked call data base and they NEVER EVER get through when they try to call anytime after the initial attempt. Got to love modern technology at times.

Dunno how to break this to you, but landing live men on the moon was another lie. The do not call list is worse than a joke. It wastes money, and creates more surveillance, and gives some a false sense of security. We can't get rid of scammers because we are too careless with our trust. I have gotten rid of most calls by grilling them with probing questions until they acknowledge responsible truth or hang up on me. The worst scams operate under the guise of government.
Remember, It is the fate of those who don't like politics to be ruled by those who do.
Throw off the chains of public indoctrination and hold people accountable for their actions.

Get a phone or service with call blocking. Ooma works great.
bajaskier 2014-05-27 14:32:43 Unknown
$3.00 of that went to the charity. They kept the rest.

Fake charity scammers. Blocked with Ooma.

The Do Not Call does not apply to charities. Even if they're scamming charities.
PaPaRick 2014-05-26 14:52:55 Unknown
When answering machine connects they hang up. Never leave a message.

This is a robocall. I have NoMoRobo installed on my landline phone system with Time Warner. It really works...phone rings once (after NoMoRobo determines that it's a robocall) then the line is ZAPPED and the call is ended. The number still shows up on your caller ID so you can be sure it's a number that should be ZAPPED. Check it out on their website (it's free if your phone service can accommodate it)....https://www.nomorobo.com/

They called again today, which happens to be a holiday (Memorial Day), and I decided to answer the call so that I could demand to be taken off their calling list. They started their usual high pressure banter for donations, but I cut him off mid-sentence andI asked to be removed from their calling list . He hung up abruptly. Pure scam. Pure scum.
PaPaRick 2014-05-23 16:23:09 Unknown
Same as most. They call and never leave a message.
So funny 2014-05-23 03:59:52 Unknown
Answered this call because my kids were sleeping and I didn't want it to ring more than once. Female called asked for someone that worked for us...years ago. But only asked by their first name so I assumed it was a debt collector. So I asked the caller, "Phillip who?" And then they hung up on me. LOL. Usually I don't enjoy having my time wasted in this way but, this one made me laugh. Silly thieves. :)

Multiple calls from this number today. Ignored them and then got a telephone spoof call with my own name on it! Caller id said it was from my own number--obviously not.

Wanting a donation for breast cancer treatment. I said "no thanks".
Emmi-cat's mom 2014-05-21 23:29:03 Unknown
If you want to give to breast cancer patients, do it directly by calling them or by looking for an appropriate website. I would never give money to anyone who called me no matter what they said to me.

Same thing here as everyone else is saying. This is just a scammer who keeps calling and hanging up. I did some research on these sorry pieces of garbage, and they are asking everyone for money for either one of these many scams:
1.) Saying that they are with the Sheriff's Dept. and they need donations.
2.) Saying that they are with some kind of breast cancer research and they need donations.
3.) Saying that they are with some kind of children's cancer hospital and need donations.
... And the list goes on and on. The bottom line is that prey on people's good hearted nature and try to con you out of your money. Obviously that 'Do Not Call' registration does not work because these scammers still bug all of us to death. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. I don't know why they even bother now days in the 21st century. Is anyone dumb enough to give them money? I hope not!
willie 2014-05-21 21:53:13 Unknown
I tell them to take their scan and stick it up their a**. They get the message and do not call back.

This number has called just about every day for the past week. Never leaves a message. Am on the DNC list.

Got this call several times. It's a computerized call who asks to speak to me. When I say "hello", there's a 10 second delay. After the delay, the computer asks me: "Are you still there"?. I say "Yes". 10 second delay again then the computer says " OK". (Now what).......so I wait for the next "prompt".. 5 seconds later the computer says "hello", are you still there"?? So now I'm pissed and I say "Your mother really sucks good $%%^^. Then a human sounding voice laughs!! I hang up thinking to myself, how do these idiots make a penny, when they don't even respond to my "hello" when I answer. I love messin with their minds, cause they're not getting a penny from me, and they're just wastin their time and money makin those stupid calls. KEEP callin, I love it !!

I forgot to mention that NoMoRobo is free for individuals. They charge for company phone numbers.
Chuck 2014-05-20 14:58:40 Telemarketer
This is a robocall and you can do something about it if your phone company supports the new (started at the end of 2013) application called NoMoRobo. Here's their website: https://www.nomorobo.com/
I received a call from this number yesterday at 6:48pm and my phone rang just once. That's how I know it's a robocall. See the website for more details. It really works.
And for numbers that are not robocalls, I just add them to my Selective Call Forwarding list (I have Time Warner). I use a phone number that I know is not in service as a forwarding number for specific phone numbers. I usually add numbers that I don't recognize that have called more than once, leave no message and when I try to call back the number is not in service or I can guess it's a scam. When they call again, they get the 'not in service' message from the fake number I forwarded their number to. I can list up to 30 numbers doing that so I place a date in the description box so I can purge when I have to.

Don't answer your phone if called from this number. It is a fundraising operation and not legitimate in my opinion.

Someone from phone number 702-832-3139 keeps calling and hanging up. I finally called the number back and they claim to be from a "fundraising center". LIke all the other comments above, I believe this is a scam.
Disgusted 2014-05-19 11:22:17 Unknown
I got this one except they claimed to be wanting donations for women who can't afford treatment for breast cancer.
The "do not call" program is obviously as worthless as the rest of our Government
Shay 2014-05-19 01:06:03 Unknown
Several years ago, my husband agreed to give them (Breast Cancer Research) a donation. Now they
have his name and call non-stop. It's Sunday, they started bright and early this morning and just called
for the 4th time today, at 9:00 PM. I looked up info on them a long time ago. Less than 2% of funds they
receive go to actual cancer research. The rest goes to "administrative costs". So, so tired of it. It makes
me not want to donate to any charity.
JMalachowski 2014-05-18 22:49:57 Telemarketer
After they called a few times, I decided to call them back. It said they were a fund-raising organization. At the end of their voicemail message they gave an option to press 1 to say I am not interested in making a donation.
Have Fun With Them 2014-05-18 21:08:12 Unknown
I think rather than just complaining that they call us, we should share our ways of aggravating them when they call? It's not illegal to purposely aggravate them, is it? I mean, they are calling us, after all, not the other way around.
1) Might I suggest telling them you've been laid off, are sick or something...and beg them for money?
2) Talk to them and act interested, then say "just hold on a second" and put the phone down and walk away for a while.
3) Go to the bathroom, including flushing sounds
...
Come on, these people are giving us a free chance to get back every time they call! Don't waste it!
