it does work.  it is the same voice and recording for 1-703-291-9022 which called many times, the worst being 18 times in 2 1/2 hrs. last week.  the calls did fade and then stop as stated.

They call at 8:00 or 9:00 PM several times in the past week asking for my husband.  When I say he isn't home, they say they'll call back later.

the putting your number on the do not call list dosn't work. And one day the called asking for my mom and the next my brother. My brother's name has never been listed for this phone number. I'm assuming that since quite a few people have gotten quite a few different responses that it is one of those people trying to get a credit card or bank number to steal money!! so ya

Alright all you losers that do nothing but b***h and whine! I called the number back and its a fund raising company they are hired by different organizations to raise funds, all you have to do is press 0 (zero) and enter your phone number to be added to their do not call list, end of story.

FYI on the government do not call list - this list does not apply to this number because the list does not apply to fundraisers for charities and political orgs (like the NRA). My voip provider lets me block specific numbers so that is what I did...

They called and didn't leave a message.  I called the number back and it said that it was a fundraiser for a non profit organization.  There is an option to remove yourself from their database but it could take up to 48 hours to take affect. I did that so that they won't be calling me again, plus it was automated so you don't have to talk to anyone.

As many folks stated its a outsource company that does cold call fundraising for multiple people. Call the number back, press 0 and enter your number to be put on their Do Not Call list

I tried the "opt out" option by entering my number after pressing zero.  I've done it twice now and these bastards continue calling.  No messages, just hang ups.  I wish whoever is paying them money for marketing reads this board and realizes what a waste of their marketing dollars this service really is.

Got several calls from them They say the NRA but I found out it is an Organization who works for the so called president Obommamama and is using it to harass people and make them think it is the NRA.

I found out it is from some "left" wing organization that is trying to get people upset over the NRA. That is why they say it is from the NRA. However, we believe it is ACORN. We traced the call thru the Virginia police department. They called the wrong number this time.

Yes it is Strategic Fund Raising for Non profits and political fund raising they maybe related to NRA because they are aggressive to stop the anti-gun lobbyist.
Which I believe should be done because if they take away one right they will take away the next and the next.
Although, I don't like their fund raising tactics.
Call NRA and see if they can remove you off the the call rolls.
I did not believe in gun ownership until I was a victim of a car jacking before it was called car jacking.

I am tired of the criminals getting the upper hand of law abiding Citizens. Whether people like it or not the states that have rights to carry a gun have less crime the police cannot be everywhere. I know I been through Two Riots, LA Riots, Watts Riots and three major earthquakes.
The police could not be everywhere. There are on record at 911 in LA request from business owners that called for help and the dispatcher said you are on your own.
And another fact when Katrina hit New Orleans the law enforcement came and collected all the gun owners arms instead of letting the people protect themselves. I verified this and I was shocked on this issue.
And they the US Govt has setup military cache around the country strictly for the use against US Citizens and this information is on the You Tube and I read it elsewhere.

So I have mixed feelings when NRA calls.

I called the number back and verified it was Strategic Funding.

I get 8 to 10 calls a day from this number.  No one ever responds to my Hello.  Now I just let it ring.  If they can't identify themselves - I don't need to talk to them.

So, have been getting calls from this number for a while.  NRA.  We had a membership YEARS ago but choose not to contribute anymore.  Regardless, they call daily and I never pick up.  Took the advice of others here.  Called the number back and requested to have my number removed from their call list (digitally). Amazed that it actually worked.  That was 4 days ago and I haven't had a call since.

Received call from 703-398-0839 never left message

I found many ppl thinking it's only the NRA, but when calling this # back...it's a company that makes calls for many different organizations (NRA included) to get donations. I have entered my number in their do not call list, will see how that goes!!! They call about 6 times a day starting around 5pm til exactly 8:52pm every single day!!! Hanging up on them or screaming into the phone will not get rid of these ppl lol CALL THE NUMBER BACK, ENTER YOUR NUMBER INTO THEIR DO NOT CALL LIST! If that does not work, report them to the FCC, charity or not...it's harassment if they keep calling after being told not to!

I answered the phone "Ola", they said hello, I said "como esta".  They asked for my husband I said "Ola", they said you speak English, I said Englis?  I played dumb they said they would make note and not call me back.  Ten minutes later, they called, my son answered and they hung up.  Really annoying as we were trying to have family time and they kept interrupting. Won't answer again.

I received three calls in past three days at various times and the called ID did show NRA.  I always let the answer machine pick up.

Calls started about a week ago. Calls about once a day about 6:30pm. Does not leave a message.

it is the nra.,.. they bought our numbers from a source that they can  not or will not give me... You have to call the national nra and tell them to remove your number.. it can take up to 30 days

I tried calling the number back & got a recording. Supposedly it's for retrieving messages from your Verizon Wireless account.

I received a call from the same number at 2:30PM PST. ID is NRA.  Did not leave any messages.

someone finally was on the other end of the line. I told him the number comes up as a cell phone in VA and he acted like that was crazy.

703-389-0839 call at 2:02 pm march 1, 2010.  Came up UNKNOWN NAME on ID and they did not say anything.  Was very annoying!!!!!!

Calls coming in 2 - 3 times a day. Caller ID indicates NRA from 703-398-0839.  I let it go to the answering machine, but there is never a message left.  This is getting very tiring and I consider it to be harassment.

I called the number and followed the instructions to have my # removed from their call list. The calls have stopped.

Just got a call.  They asked for my husband and when I said he wasn't home they said thank you and hung up.  I called the phone number and got a recording that said it was "strategic telemarketing" and they call on behalf of either charities or political campaigns.  It then gave instructions to enter your phone number in and they would place you on their do not call list.  So I did it.
