got a call from a 1-703-823-8134. Was listed as out-of-area from the call info...which means some asshat is spoofing that 703 number from some long distance exchange given that all of 703 is local to me. Calling the number back got me a tin lizzie recording...and old one...about the number not being in service.
NOT a legit UPS number. Some phone scammers are using it to drill useful informtion out of people.

It's a legit UPS number, not everything is a scam or prank. They called to let me know there was a problem with a package I was sending.

It's a legitimate UPS number. You can call 1-800-PICKUPS to have your package delivered. They call if perhaps you didn't include a suite number or if the address was incorrect.

I rec'd 5 calls today back to back within a 5 minute time frame tried calling back and received a auto msg stating that the number is disconnected....there's a lot of fraud going on out there. Be careful not to give your personal information out to ppl on the phone who call you.

Keep calling me today and I have not yet answered, but when I called back it was the same as previously listed. "Not in Service."
I looked it up on whitepages.com and it said it was a land line in Washington, VA. But I have no idea if that is true.

The same thing happened to me. However, in my case, we knew there was a package which couldn't be delivered previously because we had been out of town. It was a little strange that this was the day before Christmas (Wednesday) and she said it would be delivered "tomorrow," but I figured she really meant Friday.
When I checked the tracking number the next day and found the item had not been loaded on a truck, I called the local number and got the disconnected message. However, even now I assumed it had been because UPS didn't want people disturbing the local staff. When I called the 800 number they said no arrangement had been made for delivery.
Sounds like a prankster with a weird sense of humor, but who also can spoof Caller ID.
