i received this call from 704-878-0080 on my cellphone at 2:45 pm and nobody there when i answeres. i called back and got the number disconnected message. and yes gordo i advertise on craigslist if that helps you out.

Well, today the FTC announced its BIG winners for best tech solution to the robo-criminal telemarketers.
They should have announced it yesterday as an April Fools Joke!

The only thing that will stop this organized crime will be Felony charges and Prison time for all the scumbags robo-calling from "cardholder services" , "home security", and fake "sweepstakes contest" criminals. Include the bottomfeeder "debt collectors", and robo-dialing "callcenters" too.

You were called by the drug-addicted "card services" scammers. They pretend to be associated with various credit card companies in an effort to fool people into giving them their credit card numbers.When the scammers are successful in getting that number the unsuspecting victim can expect to see hundreds, if not thousands of dollars charged to it on their next statement.

what the heck! just received a call, same as all those above no message and when re-dialed said not in service. Sent a scare as in-laws are in this area code and couldn't reach phone fast enough.

Got a call from this number. I am on the national do not call.
It was a recording telling me to press 1 to speak to a rep about lowering CC payments.
I spoke to the rep asking to be removed, he angrily asked about my cards.
Told him I've never had debt & he hung up in my face. The number was disconnected when I called back.

This 704 number is a proxy for some credit card scammers.

I got a call on my cell this morning at about 9 AM PDT.  I didn't recognize the number, (7048780080) so I let it go to voicemail.  And just like with everybody else, no message and the number is disconnected when I tried to call back.  I've never used this number to pace an ad on Craigslist, although in my search for employment, I was sending out resumes that included my phone number.  I don't think it's that, because that would be a stupid way to collect phone numbers and email addresses.

I am on the National DO NOT CALL List and I continually get calls from this number.  When I call back it gives me a message that says "We're Sorry this number has been disconnected or is no longer in Service."

Why do I keep getting these calls?

Gordo - I've only ever made one posting on Craiglist, about a year ago, but yes did use this number! Hope that helps.

What is the reasoning for calling and hanging up?  Not sure what it means or how I can be affected.

Called a few minutes ago and left no message. I keep track of these calls and then call the FBI, letting them know a terrorist is on the loose. I feel it is terrorism because these foul smelling, degenerate, sexless, orges, obese individuals have to make these calls of terror, because no one can bear to look at them, they are so grotesque. I am on the do not call list as well, but these animals need a voice to hear, so they keep calling. It is their only human contact.

Got the same call .. then returned the call and got a message that said disconnected.....Its obviously a scam but whats it mean?

Why bother calling if your not going to leave a message and cannot return call!!!

Receive call weekly from 704-878-0080, all are hang up calls, when calling the number back, message states number disconnected.

Have you posted it on Craigslist to sell something?

Have you used the number to "verify an account" with Craigslist?

I'm almost POSITIVE that Craigslist is how these scammers are getting your numbers. Either Craigslist is selling their "account verification" phone lists to them, and/or computers are scanning ads to get your numbers off of there, unless you spell out the number (i.e.- three two four six two four five). It is common knowledge that computers DO INDEED scan the Craigslist ads for the numbers- unless it's spelled out.

I can't prove it yet, but I'm almost there!

Received call at 8:42 pm on April 1, 2013.  I didn't answer the call and no message was left.

Called my cell at 8:57 PM. Caller ID said NC, USA. Sent it to voice mail. Gee, they didn't leave a message.

They called me too and no message. I am also on the DNC list and I am pretty peeved because they called too late.

If you are registered on the DoNotCall.gov  go to their site and file a complaint. Only real way to make them stop calling.

Called just now - no message. Just tried to call back and says number is disconnected. I've seen on other sites that it's a message from a fake "Card Services" offering to lower interest rates. I'm on the DNC list!! :(
