I called the place back and turns out they are a roofing company call Carolina shingle, however they were very nice people.  They have 2 employees making phone calls on an computer dialer and if your volume on your phone is low it doesn't recognize someone on the line and doesn't forward the answered call through.  So it sounds like they hang up on you.

The guy apologized multiple times and said they are constantly adjusting the system to cut the dropped calls because it is lost business.  I guess that this system allows them to make 3 times as many calls as manual dialing.  They were very kind over the phone and seem like a reputable company.

I looked into it and I am as upset with the political system as ever.

They created an online system to submit complaints for a DNC list that doesn't really mean anything.

I read the previous post and then went to check the small print of the law.  Only companies trying to sell you something over the phone are constrained by the DNC list.  I was more annoyed to learn, if they set an appointment for a sale person to come to your door solicit sales, bc the sale didn't happen over the phone they are also exempt.

You understand that the DNC list isn't actually a do not call list, it is a Do Not Solicit list.

In an effort to appease voters politicians created the DNC list.  However, they left a few loop holes to service themselves.  In order to not cut off their own fund raising, the DNC list only stops calls from companies soliciting (aka selling goods or services).  To avoid suspicion for being the only group to benefit from the loophole, I think they expanded exempt groups to include a few others.

I got calls from this company and they offered a free roof inspection.  I told them I would be reporting them for violation of the DNC list which comes with a $10,000 fine.  They politely responded that they would remove me from their list, however they were offering a free service while working in the area.

I submitted a complaint and did my homework about the free service, because I would not pay them for the service they ARE exempt.  Even if they fixed my roof they are EXEMPT because the roof would be paid for by the insurance.  I am annoyed at the political system, not these guys for using a loophole to market an area they are doing work.

I avoided calls from this unknown number for two weeks.  When I finally picked up in frustration, they explained they are a roofing company in Charlotte and offered a free roof inspection, while working in the Matthews area, to check for wind and hail damage.

I was leery but had them come out anyways.  After 10 minutes they showed me damage on what I thought was a new roof (4 years old).  I submitted it to my insurance, days later an ins. adjuster came out and agreed it was damaged.  Two weeks and a $500 deductible later I had them replace my roof.

Very decent company with good BBB ratings. Actually very happy they called and I finally picked up.

I get calls to my DNC registered number almost daily. I will file a complaint today and for each subsequent call. I suggest anyone getting calls to their DNC registered number do the same.
