It appears they're branching out some.  I just got a call a few minutes ago.  There number was a Maine Wireless: 1-207-504-5492.  (I live in ME)

They wanted me to press 1 to receive information.  Same as above: $3000 and Medical Alert Bracelet, etc.

 Received two calls from this number today.  Did not answere, they did not leave a message

May be a coincidence but this type of call seems to be connected to 518-621-1390. according to other comment both are related to medical alerts.
Just don't answer.

I get these calls all the time. How can this be stopped?

Scam type. Looking for pigeons.

Received call 9/24/13 at 5:39pm , listed as unknown caller. I get one at least everyday, from a different number and it is unknown.

They call constantly and I never answer. When I call this number, I get a recording claiming that I have reached a number that is no longer in service.

Called me twice about five days apart.  "Senior Assistance".  Reporting to fed DNC; which works if they get enough complaints.

I USE PHONETRAY PRO TO BLOCK ALL THESE CALLS.   IT NOT ONLY HASNGS UP IT GIVES A DISCONNECTED TONE.     ITS THE GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD.

YOU CAN PROGRAM IT WITH YOU COMPUTER  TO BLOCK ENTIRE AREA CODES OR JUST SPECIFIC A/C AND EXCHANGES. I ALSO HAVE RELATIVES IN ATHENS WHICH IS ON A DIFFERENT EXCHANGE SO I BLOCK EVERY NUMBER AND EXCHANGE EXCEPT HERS
 BEST GIZMO I HAVE FOUND,  BETTER THAN DIGITONE.   UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF NUMBERS YOU CAN BLOCK.   AS MANY AS YOU CAN PUT ON YOUR HARD DRIVE.  IT ALSO RECORDS THE NUMBER ANSD TIME THE CALL WAS MADE, WHICH YOU CAN PRINT OUT ABND USE IN COURT SHOULD YOU PRESS CHARGES.  WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.  THERE IS AN ATTORNEY IN CHICAGO WHON WILL GO AFTER THEM FOR A PERCENTAGE OF THE RECOVERED AMT.

Got several "dead air" calls from this number before they finally answered with a recorded message yesterday afternoon.  It's the same spiel as described above, so I just hung up.  They seem to call 2 or 3 times a week, and most of the time it seems to be dead air calls.  Very annoying.  I'm also on the Do Not Call list, but that doesn't seem to be enforced anymore.

These people call me every week, sometimes more than once. I yell at them to take me off their list, but they keep calling and have been calling for a long time, over and over. Just got a call today, so they're still at it. They're always selling their medic alert junk. Oh, excuse me, trying to give it away free. But then, whose alert works without a service? When I return the call, the number, my phone service tells me it is disconnected.

I get calls from this # several times a week.  The latest was today at 12:50.  I did not answer.  I have a grandson in Athens, Ga. so I almost answered.  Instead, I just dialed his number and got him.  I am a senior citizen but not about to fall for a scam.  Sometimes I let them go through their entire spill and then say I didn't quite understand, could they tell me again.  I tie up their line for a long time and then say I'm not interested and hang up.

calls from 706-395-8443, 646-467-6467, 781-884-0682, 702-705-5398, 616-980-2164, 866-948-0664, 208-389-8691, 713-574-8468, 813-883-3021, 410-654-5543, some as late as 10:00pm. and some 2 and 3 times or more. I am on the no call list but that must be something that does not work. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?????????? some unknown, some  telemarketer

When I tried to call them back, I got a message stating the phone had been disconnected.  The call just came in today

Almost forgot, the guy who answered the phone and was so "helpful" (NOT!!!) claimed his name was Ralph and gave some employee id I didn't get a chance to copy down. And, when I demanded the company name and address again and again and again and again just hung up. Told him about his mama too!

I got a call from these morons just now! I have REPEATEDLY "press(ed) 5" to be taken off the call list and I have pressed 1 to tell someone directly. BIG SURPRISE I'm never given the name/address of the company calling; and, all you get is SMART MOUTH about how you "opted to receive offers" by pressing 1. Told these folks I was going to shove a lawyer up their youknowwhats!! Also reported them AGAIN to Do Not Call registry, although I'm unsure what good that ever seems to do!!! They spent more effort on Naptster when it was illegal! ;p

There is a maximum db level--volume-- that can be transmitted through a phone line--using an air horn, or other device will have little effect, but if it makes people feel better by doing it, that's all that counts! If a person chooses to answer the scammer's calls the same effect could be attained by requesting them to stop calling--nothing!

They did leave the message about $3000 free grocery money and the medic alert system.

Yes, it is a scam targeting senior citizens.

Got this scam message as well.  While it is not illegal to spoof a Caller ID number, it is illegal to do so for the purposes of fraud and scamming.  Criminals don't let some law keep them from doing what they do, so it's time to strike back at these scumbags.  I say we all pop down to the nearest Walmart or similar store and buy one of those safety air horns (Should cost less than $10.) and whenever these scammers call, we press the necessary button to be connected to them and once they pick up, blast them with it.  If they value their hearing, they'll hopefully get the message.

I think it was meant that the messages from John have stopped, and this new tactic is being used by the medic alert for seniors scammers.

Billie is wrong--not out of business. I just got a call and it's September 6. Maybe they just took a long holiday vacation to rest up for more robo-calling.
There really should be a way to stop all of this robo-calling at the source--if you get a call and press a robo-call button on your phone, the robo-call  machine explodes (and nothing would happen if it were a regular call). Pay-Back!!

You're right.  The DNC list is of no help when it comes to scammers and scofflaws.   It is just a list of numbers maintained by the FTC and purchased by legitimate Telemarketing companies,  who ARE registered with the FTC.   Nothing else.

THESE PEOPLE/CALLERS ARE SCUM - trying to bilk seniors.  Not only would I like to these calls stop, but these people/companies stopped.  There must be something the public can do.  Obviously, the DNC list is no help.
