Got a call at 2 PM on a Sunday.  No message left on answering machine

I got a call and the woman stated she was calling for the government offering me $5200 and change.  I didn't believe her and told her to go away.

I got two calls from this number this morning--one at 9:27 am and the second at 9:28 am.  I was in the shower so I did not answer either of the calls.  No message was left.  I most likely wouldn't have answered anyway--I tend to not answer any number that I do not recognize or any of the ones that just say "anonymous",  "cellphone", "private number", etc,  In the past I have received calls from both Special Olypics and MADD, so I suppose it could be they are using the same caller agency.  In either case, I wish they would just stop calling--I am on the "Do Not Call" list.  The calls are aggravating when they interrupt you in the middle of doing something.

Repeated hang-up calls from 708-406-6179. Reported to the local phone company. Nuisance.

Charities, even dubious ones, are exempt from the DNC list. I still get barraged with several unwanted calls a day: They must think I'm rich.  I'm just rich enough to buy a call blocker:

Received a call from this number at 3:10 in the afternoon. As soon as I answered the caller hung up. Caller ID said Unknown Name.

You "still get these types of calls" because non-sales calls are exempt from the Telemarketing Sales Rule, which the DNC registry helps enforce, and you keep hanging up without ordering the calls to cease. You were invited and supposed to read all about this when you registered.

Heritage calling for MADD.  She began by calling me by my first name and thanking me for my previous donations (I don't have previous donations to them). When she began her spiel, I told her I didn't have time and hung up.  I'm on the do not call list, also, but still get these types of calls.

For a scammer thats just one more law to break.

Phone rang at 8:30 Saturday morning, it was 1-708-406-6179. I didn't answer, instead looked it up on the net and found it was a a telemarketer claiming all kinds of things. I thought they were not supposed to call before 9:00 a.m.?

Unwanted calls from this number, they never leave a message.   I called the number back and the no answer just a recorded message stating they were an agency that collects money for charities.  They also stated that their office hours were M-F 8 to 5;  except they called me after 7pm.  The recorded message is about 1 minute long and doesn't allow you to leave a message/reply.  They must be registered as a charity since we're on the Do Not Call Registry.  Other people have reported this number as coming from Special Olympics or MADD.

Rec'd call from this number did not answer said from Oak Park, IL.

Call came from Cicero, Illinois to Kansas at 18:44 hours CDT on 4-9-12. Call not answered and no message left. Other sites advise that the caller will ask for the decision maker of the company and then pitch for Special Olympics. I have my own business, so of course I'm the decision maker, but the call rolled on on our residentional land line.

Received a call from this number.  It was from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Call came from Cicero, Illinois to Kansas at 19:57 hours CDT on 3-14-12. Call not answered and no message left. Other sites report this as a Special Olympics fund raiser. Caller ID said - Unavailable -.

Lady called and asked for my wife by name.  I asked her what company she was with and she
said Mission Calling and I said just a minute.  I asked my wife if she wanted the call, she picked up the phone and they had already hung up.     Have had calls from this number before and they always hang up.  Best way to prevent calls from coming in all the time is when you answer and they start asking for someone or don't give who they are, just say    "hang up, dont call back, the police are here and they found the body in the garage"    That usually stops all the stupid calls from them.

Phone rang, answered no one there, hung up. Not sure who it is but, I see the above say it is Special Oymplics.......just a note to you.....they also have the numbers 800-319-8396 & 800-324-7049. This one came up not a 800 #.  I choose to give more local and see who in our own area that needs real help!  TELEMARKETERS BE GONE!!!!! I also have registered to the Do not call list BUT, government, charities, & politics can still call......I don't think that is right!!! If I want, need, or want to give something......I'll call you!!!!!

Received call.  When I answered no one was there.  I keep getting these calls.  Why do they always hang up.  I am polite and explain I have no money to give other than the ones I normally tithe to or help.  When people like this keep calling, whenever someone is on the line I tell them in a whispered voice,  "Don't call back.  They have found the body and I have to leave town"   That usually gets my number off their list>>

Get the same thing.  The phone rings, shows the number on caller id.  When you answer there is dead silence.  If they are calling for Special Olympics - they just made me decide to not give period.

This person called and said she was heritage foundation calling for MADD. Since i was expecting a call from Oak Park , IL relating to a critically ill family member,  I asked where she was calling from and it was from Arkanas, not Oak Park, Il as the caller ID said.

Some jerk called my Mom's house yesterday. He refused to believe she was not available when my niece answered the phone. He insisted she was not telling the truth and got very rude. He was really creepy and refused to tell my niece what he wanted, but he kept telling her she was telling a lie to say my Mom was not home. This MUST STOP. Her phone number has been on the don't call registered list for years. When searching for the information on this phone number it has it registered in Oak Park and then again in Woodale Illinois. When I called the number I get a recording that it is some company that helps incoming and outgoing charity calls. This is crap.

I also get these calls wanting to spek to owner of business.  He calls twice a day, & says he's with the Special Oylmpics.  Very annoying.  Acts like he's the owners friend, asks by name.

Said he was calling to talk to the owner of the business or the decision maker of the business. Then proceeded to claim they were looking for finacial support for Special Olympics. I am not sure I believed him. Told him I gave locally and he was polite and hung up.
